Joe Hendry was still hot ten years ago! 😍

And Sherri…what a personality! Such a funny and gorgeous lady. (R.I.P.) I’m sad no one recorded the match with her and Wendi.

I also read that Charlotte Flair is getting a divorce. My dad texted “Royal Rumble in the ring and at home.” 😭

The Royal Rumble last weekend was fun to watch.

The tag match was serviceable and the three way feud is good; kinda wish the Street Profits could've become more of a thing in the years prior to their heel turn, especially since Bobby Lashley and MVP left to AEW and now the Street Profits are just in a weird spot.

The Cody Rhodes-Kevin Owens ladder match was good and that ending was fantastic, haha. After seeing clips from yesterday's SmackDown, while they can put on a great show, I'm not excited about another KO-Sami feud.

The Royal Rumble matches themselves were entertaining, but I've got to admit that I'm not crazy about the winners. Charlotte Flair has always been my least favorite of the Four Horsewomen, regardless of in-ring talent I've just never vibed with her personality and the air of nepotism around her. Jey Uso's win is the inverse of that; he's charismatic and the crowds are on his side, but in-ring as a solo competitor he just kind of blends in for me as Guy Who Uses A Superkick #3875019826785. That Jimmy vs. Jey match at last year's WrestleMania was rough. I don't dislike him, but can't say I'm all that enthusiastic about his match at WrestleMania.

I saw talk that people have wanted Charlotte vs. Tiffany Stratton for a while? Since I don't keep up weekly I either forgot or didn't know. Hopefully she goes for Tiffany instead of Rhea...and loses. 'Cause it's Tiffy Time. Rather see Rhea face someone else, but if it's Charlotte-Rhea again then I mean, at least it'll be a good match.

Today is also Sherri Martel’s birthday, and she would have been 67. What an icon! I wonder what she would have been up to nowadays.

After hearing that people chanted “SHE’S A RACIST!” at Tessa Blanchard (and rightfully so), I wish people did that at the Super Bowl when Trump walked in.

It's great he had some voice acting roles back in the day

Didn't they just flip him off?

I think there was footage of some people booing him, but I would have loved it if they got a chant going lol.

I’ve seen some other clips of Randy in Space Ghost, and one where he mentioned his “true love” being “Elizabeth” and that had to be a reference to his actual wife. Fun lil Easter egg there.

My dad doesn’t exactly “believe” in Joe Hendry. Thinks the singing is “weak” lol. Maybe he’ll win him over….

Nia Jax not having an Instagram just feels…wrong. 😢 But I kinda don’t blame her; social media can be rough to regular people, so when you’re famous and under a microscope, it’s a thousand times worse.

Random tangent:

A number of people were released from the roster last week, one of them being Sonya DeVille, a member of the stable Pure Fusion Collective alongside Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. Admittedly, since I don't watch the regular shows and kinda lapsed in viewing the premium live events for a bit of last year, I wasn't altogether familiar with her. But this got me thinking about Shayna Baszler's position in the company. I'm a bit of a workrate person and I've always been a fan of Shayna's from back when she was in NXT in the black & gold era. I know people aren't all that high on her due to charisma, and I know that title wins nowadays always want to have a bit of a marketability aspect to them, but honestly, I wish we could go back to some of that Wild West Attitude Era type of booking where some members of the roster just get chances to shine even if they're not one of the company's top stars. Like, give Shayna a title run, just let her beat the hell out of these girls, lol. She's not LA Knight or Steve Austin on the microphone, but she doesn't need to be, she's just a badass and that should be good enough for something. ♠️All hail The Queen of Spades.♠️

The change from her awesome original theme music to the generic song she has now sure doesn't help. But then, everyone save for a handful of people on the roster have worse theme music because of Def Rebel. The Royal Rumbles over the past couple years have been testament to that, when you don't know who the heck is coming out because the music's so generic.

Natalya has practically been in this position her entire career and she's another woman who I wish they could've given some shine to in this way, unfortunately a long stretch of her career was under Vince's reign and they never bothered to give her anything that overwrote the dumb fart gimmick from years ago. She's solidly a jobber to the stars and practically has one foot out the door since she's more of a trainer, so nothing will ever really happen for her, which I accepted a long time ago, but is just kind of unfortunate. She's from the Hart family, for crying out loud. Deserved way better.

Asuka's a bit better off than those two but she REALLY should have won her first WrestleMania all those years ago. It's never happening again. What a waste.

Expanding on this, I really dislike the whole thing where you have great performers who, regardless of if they're charismatic on the mic or not, are seen as such good performers and sellers that they just end up relegated to that role forever. Dolph Ziggler/Nic Nemeth is like the textbook example of this, though granted, considering they gave him the freaking name Dolph Ziggler in this company, he was always going to have a ceiling.

Also how was Claudio Castagnoli, who can speak five languages, performed very impressive feats of strength that the crowds loved and has more raw strength than his physique would suggest, and is a great performer, never in a more prominent position in WWE than, like, in The Bar tag team with Sheamus? Which isn't a knock on The Bar, I loved The Bar, but you know what I mean. Claudio's awesome. He's not The Rock on the microphone, I don't care. You want marketability? You want an international brand ambassador? Looking at him. Why does he have to languish in AEW? 🫠

TL;DR: Just spice things up a bit and give some of these underappreciated people time in the spotlight. They don't even have to be long reigns or anything, heck, even secondary titles like Intercontinental and US are good enough, but come on. There's a thing I've heard a bunch in recent years after getting into Xavier Woods's UpUpDownDown, and which has also seemingly spread into the locker room at large, where there are certain performers who are great but underappreciated, and people say they deserve their flowers. And then when sometimes people do get more focus, they're "finally getting their flowers." I think we need more flower distribution.

Mini tangent: I know it probably has some relevant meaning to MMA or something but why would you name your group Pure Fusion Collective? Not marketable, forgettable. Literally who?

Oh wait she does have one…it’s just under a different name!

Some people reeeeeally need a life, good god. I remember Sonya having a stalker problem before too.
Definitely! In Sonya’s case, the stalker was planning to kidnap her. He even had “supplies” and everything. Thank goodness he got caught.

Once, I could have sworn I saw Randy Orton in the crowd on Judge Judy, but it was probably some dude who looked like him. 😂

I pretty much agree with everything you're saying here LOL the Shayna Baszler one hits hard cause she was a bada$$ in Black & Gold NXT and now she's so watered down these days. I remember when she was trickling into the main roster and ran through everyone in that years Elimination Chamber to face Becky at ThunderdomeMania. They had that one awkward segment when she bit Becky and popped a blood capsule and it just looked so corny and bad and they got cold feet about putting the title on her and it's been downhill since which sucks because she was booked as a LEGIT threat and has been doomed from the start of her main roster tenure. Her theme was sooooo good too, I hate what they did to it. I can say that about a lot of themes, but hers is probably at the top of my list. Asuka's as well.

I don't like to think about Asuka at Wrestlemania because I always get reminded of two times when they did her wrong:
1. When she lost her undefeated streak to Charlotte at Wrestlemania and said she's better than her on the mic
2. When they unnecessarily tried to heat up Becky/Charlotte/Rousey and make it for two belts and then had Asuka job to Charlotte on a random episode of Smackdown TWELVE DAYS before the show and Asuka lost the title and got bumped to the preshow 😔
3. you weren't expecting a #3 but I just wanted to mention that's two big reasons why I don't care for Charlotte (don't get me started I can go on for days with how they handled her vs Sasha to pad her title numbers 😒)

I think the days of wishing for a big Shayna push or even an Asuka push are almost gone, as we got a lot of younger talent coming up. I wonder how HHH will handle the upcoming crop of talent going forward. Roxanne seems to have a rocket strapped to her at the moment, and I wouldn't be surprised if she won the MITB this year 💰!

About Ziggler, the thing that sucks about him is that not only could he go in the ring and sell his a$$ off, but he could talk on the mic too! You had guys like Ricochet who can go in the ring but look like a deer in headlights when they're talking on the mic so when you have both mic and ring skills like Dolph, it especially sucks to see talent like that get pushed to the side.

The roster is so bloated right now that so much talent is there just waiting or getting underutilized. I look to SmackDown and see someone like Andrade who can put on a banger every week, but that's all he does (except I think he's won the Speed title whoop-dee-doo). Zelina Vega got moved to SD again, maybe they can pair them together and have her be his mouthpiece and rekindle that NXT Andrade. I would say pair him with Charlotte at least try something different with her and it would benefit him but that's a whole other mess at the moment LOL. The list goes on and on, but that's one that sticks out to me always. Santos Esobar is another that has both the in-ring skills and can talk, but he's just stuck on SD right now compared to this time last year when he had a hot program with Rey leading into Wrestlemania last year. LA Knight too, they've cooled him off CONSIDERABLY. Now that's a guy who I hope gets a turn at the top sooner rather than later cause he's up there in age. I thought Jey Uso would be the MITB winner this year but him (probably) winning the title at WM leads me to believe that LA's chances have improved unless they go with someone like Dom which I would absolutely love but we shall see.

There's so many people who I would like to think are in line for a world title in the semi-foreseeable future, I can't even think how its all gonna shake out with the way HHH books slow-burn style but at least there's two world titles now LOL.

But for real look at all the names: Drew, Punk, Fatu, Cena, Rollins, Reigns, Bron, Sami, etc. are all probably gonna win a World Title within the next 3 years. That's not even naming guys like Balor or Owens too who are severely due for another reign.

tldr: def rebel sucks, tired of charlotte, dom for MITB, here's natalya crashing to get out of a wellness test:

When Rey unmasked and they didn’t show his face to the camera…as if we’ve never seen him unmasked before lol.

That conversation between The Rock and Cody Rhodes last night was the most awkward, meandering thing I've seen in a while. The Rock of 20 years ago that was not. Feels like he's just coasting on his own ego and thinking he just has that It Factor without needing to practice. After the whole fiasco last year and now this, not to mention some behavior on the sets of his movies, he's lost a lot of luster and goodwill and I'm developing go away heat for him, lol.

Yeah, unfortunately the Asuka and Shayna potential pushes are unlikely now. I'd be satisfied with Shayna at least being a menace to the Women's Intercontinental Championship or Women's United States Championship division and hopefully getting a run with one of those; even if she can't fit into the top championship picture, it'd still be something.

I'd like to see Andrade and Zelina back together as a team, they have on-screen history and can lift each other up. Please keep him away from Charlotte for numerous reasons, lol.

It's a bummer how much they've squandered LA Knight's hype by waiting so long to give him title programs. He did thankfully get that United States Championship reign from that feud with Logan Paul 🤮(he's good in the ring but I can't stand either of the Paul Brothers) and he's been getting a bit more prominence over time, but even though he still gets good reaction, they waited a bit too long.

Thank you for that Natalya clip at the end, haha.

Here are today's random tangents:

1) Anyone else feel like, in the age of social media and with kayfabe long dead and buried, it's weird to have relationship storylines and on-screen couples? Like, sure, previously Rhea and Dom, and now Liv and Dom, have good chemistry, but like, Rhea's married to Buddy Matthews and Dom's got a wife of his own. Not the best examples I could give but they're top of mind. This is just a general thing I've felt for decades though. The thought came to me for this because of the Andrade and Zelina topic since Zelina's married to Malakai Black. Granted, I don't remember exactly if they portrayed Andrade and Zelina as a couple or not, but yeah.

I mean, I get it, humans are gonna human. Maybe it'd be weird to some people if there weren't on-screen couples in this mixed gender workplace with men and women in skimpy or flashy outfits in close proximity. But I dunno. It just kind of takes me out of it a bit.

2) They're milking the whole "have a wrestler put his opponent in a dangerous position, have guys from the back run out to stop it and make the offender go up the ramp, then have the wrestler run back down the ramp and do what they were going to do anyway" thing a bit too much.
