I just wanted to gather some opinions on telling children that Santa doesn't exist (what age is best to tell them, should they be made to believe in the first place, etc).

I'm 15 and my parents still haven't told me that he's not real. In fact, every time I ask them about it they try and convince me that he is real. Everyone else at my school was told long ago that he's non-existent. The worst part is that they won't tell my sister the truth, and she's 18.

Last year I even put a secret camera in front of the Christmas tree to show that Santa never came, but my mum just said that he's so magical he doesn't show up on camera, and he just made it look like my parents put the presents out to protect his identity. You probably think they're just trying to have fun, but knowing them, I genuinely think they want me to believe in him for the rest of my life... They also told me that everyone else's parents must have been lying. Really, mother? ALL of them?

Maybe they just won't tell me because they don't want me to grow up? I don't know.

If you believe in Santa, I'd be interested to know why! ;)

I believe in Santa. He's a saint, Saint Nicholas. But I don't believe he gives out presents..

Kids usually tend to figure it out on their own, some never really believe but they go on in the spirit of things (that was me).

I don't think it's a big deal if they know you know or not. Unless they're making you see the mall Santa.*shivers* Mall Santas, their costumes and acting is the thing of nightmares...

"Come and sit on my lap, sweet little children. Let Santa make you happy..."

A mall santa said this to me once. I ran.

I figured out that he wasn't real when I was 6. My dad told me that potions weren't real I had some sort of fascination with potions for about a week. I figured if potions weren't real then santa can't be real because he needs magic potions to make the reindeers fly lol. So I asked my mom if he was real or not and she told me no. Christmas wasn't as fun the Christmas's after that though. I think it is weird that your parents try to make it out like he's real now.

They could just be in disbelief that you're old enough now, and want to hold onto that childhood magic... even if it means desperately trying to keep up the charade as you and your sister become adults.

I think this is probably right. I always imagined that as I'm leaving home for good to make my way in the world, my mum will stop me, hug me, and tell me that Santa isn't real (symbolic of leaving my childhood behind). If they're not going to tell me now, I at least want that to happen :3

Santa only comes to kids. However, he did visit my house last year while we were awake (even when our youngest child is not a kid anymore). I'm not trolling this time.

Sounds sweet. Like something from a movie.

Just say to her
"mum, I know Santa isn't real, just please admit it. I have proof. I am 15. Just, please."

I dunno xD

! He is invisible, my mom believes in Santa and she says that he gives our chihuahua treats to keep her from barking. I left out cookies and milk and he ate them :D

You might hurt your parents feelings if they actually believe in Santa and you say that. God is invisible right? So is Santa :D

Your mum might of eaten the cookies and milk...

My mom doesn't eat cookies and we are all allergic to milk, if she walked through the hallways I would have woken up and heard her (was a light sleeper at the time)

Put the cookie in the bin, washed the milk down the sink.

My mum told me that he doesn't exist.

Maybe the bin ate them...

But if you believe in Santa, go ahead. I'm not here to judge you :)
