The Villager Giveaway Thread!

Looking for threads would make me want to bash my head in.
It's not like I'd go digging through each thread when I have a villager to give up.
And most people have them in their signatures anyway, or looking trade/buy them in the exchange thread.
And lastly, theres the spreadsheet someone put together.
So I don't see any need for looking for threads.

Shop/hub threads would just make the problem worse. So instead of refreshing one thread or board, you're refreshing dozens of different adoption threads.

I guess they do seem kinda redundant.

But there are many cases that Person B will have a villager that Person A wants, but would really never think of giving them away until they actually find someone that is looking for that villager. They may think it's a waste of time because the villager doesn't seem to be very popular, although Person A really wants that villager.

I kinda think that the "Looking for" section, and the "Giving away" sections should be separate, but I guess that would be too many unnecessary boards. But I do think that you should still be able to look for villagers

This ^

Plus, I play with my sis a ton and she hates when I have villagers in the Void because she ends up getting them. So I have to find someone to give the villagers neither of us want away. Looking for requests helps tons.

Maybe one thread where you can only post once, and update that single post as needed.

Oh, please call the sub-forum "The Villager Expo".

I'm fine with whatever you decide! I would like my own thread to keep my updated villager list/villagers given away, but if that is just going to cause the same problem that already exists, then your way is definitely the way to go.

I'm on the same page as Chaos here. I'm kind of going cross-eyed with all these threads. I've been looking through so many to find people who may want villagers I have. I've let many go that apparently other people wanted because no one responded to my, "Hey guys! ______ is moving. Anyone want him?" I'm all for helping other people get villagers they want, but I just wish it was easier. ._____.

Would posting our own little giveaway/trading villager threads smooth things out or just muck everything up?

How would shops make things worse? Imagine Re-tail without shops, where you can only post a few items you're selling/buying.

I think the idea of having a ton of sub forums is just going to cause confusion and a lot of posts will probably end up in the wrong place. It would be nice if there could be some way to distinguish trading, adoption, and selling threads from each other though, sort of like how the retail forum lets you choose from the "shop, buying, selling, trading" option for your thread when you create it.

I think the idea is great but I still wish you could delete threads you made so like after you found a villager a home you could delete the thread so the place dont get to cluttered!

This! I kind of wish this feature was through out Re-Tail in general. That way auctions and what not can be deleted after and there will be more of a chance your thread can be seen through out the day without having to bump it.

he changed it for you. xD

I'm thinking from the point of view that you're looking for a villager being given away or sold. Without shops/hubs, you refresh the main board index looking for a thread to say "[Giveaway] Julian". There you go. If you have shops/hubs, you have ambiguous threads titled "Justin's Adoption Agency" being bumped with no clue as to what villager is actually available at the moment. So you start to click on every one of these threads every few hours looking to see if they have Julian.

As for the comparison to Re-Tail... There are literally thousands of different items and services. There's only 300 or so villagers.

I kind of like this thread though.. the Advanced Search option on the top of the page helps me A LOT!

I guess it would work. Just finding it a drag to make 3-4 posts everyday about a villager moving out. You should enforce using the search bar then. c:

edit: threads not posts whoops

The only way for the individual threads to work, imo, is to have your current villagers listed so people know which to keep track of if you have an animal they desire. That and as I said earlier, updating your thread title with the villager being given away so everyone can see who is up for grabs on the forum board.

I see the upside and downside of these threads, so either way is cool with me.

Well, whatever you end up deciding I'm sure it'll work out fine, Justin. I'm looking forward to getting to use this new sub forum.

I am trying but it is a much slower process. -_- Especially since only normal villagers are up at 6 AM and Tangy is a peppy, lol.

Thank you for replying though, At least I know this method works. Now if Tangy will just MOVE.

Is Tangy reserved for anyone?
