thoughts on being able to choose from a couple islands?

so i'm pretty sure many of us saw the direct video posted on yt earlier today, and i'm not sure if this was featured in other vids but we have the choice between four islands! what are your thoughts on it?

It's the same as new leaf not really a big deal imo since it's something from a past game

i kind of guessed it was gonna be 4 island because you could only choose from 4 maps in acnl and also in accf (i think). i was kind of sad by it but then they showed terraforming and that sadness drained from me so fast lmao. like i said in another thread, instead of map resetting for a good looking layout (without knowing anything about what could constitute a good looking layout because everything's different in this game compared to acnl), i will instead be resetting for native fruit (if there's perfect fruit), grass shape, and airport color.

They said a wide variety.

I personally want a single river splitting the island in two, not several splits.

Exactly! It's the same as New Leaf. There, we got to choose between four towns. Here, we get to choose between four islands.

I love it!!! Even the displays of the islands are more easily understandable (although I remember having a choice between a few or having to reset until you got a map you loved in ACNL).

There used to be many potential layouts.

Except... With New Leaf you have to go through dialogue each time.

I love that they give us options but I wish it were a sheet of 10 different maps lol
I feel like we won't be able to move the town hall area so I'll be resetting for that, my native fruit, and maybe the airport color.

It only matters initially, as once you've unlocked the Construction Permit, you can design to your heart's content. I say that, but I'm one of those in the camp that thinks I'll do more harm than good to my island if/when entrusted with the authority, so will probably leave whichever map I start with 100% untouched; exception being bridges.

Ill be map resetting until i get a nice airport color and an island that doesn't have so much river going through it. I know we can change the landscape but i'm still not sure how limited it is.

They offer 6 to choose from, where New Leaf had 3, and the other games had none. I'm hoping it won't be too hard to reload and get another 6 choices.

I know there will be terraforming later, but I feel I should get a good template to start with, especially if terraforming has some kind of limitations that prevent me what having exactly what I want.

Yes, but you were presented with just four.

Right! that's how it was done in ACNL.

If you wanted to see different maps to choose from, other than the first four, you had to re-start the game. I am sure that if you re-start ACNH, you'd get different maps, too.
