Some info as to why I'm asking:

So, I told myself I wasn't gonna for this animal crossing as I did in new leaf, but the more I play the more I want to. I finished day 4, have nothing left to do and want to TT so bad because I want to progress.

What are some positives and negatives to TTing? The thing I worry about most is TTing a day forward or a few days, then TTing back to the normal date which is what I'll be doing, then having NOTHING to do the next day.

I personally TT in my game because I am a college student and there may be days that I can't play and then days when I can play all day, so I like to be able to play as much as I can on those days. The slow pace is just too slow for me and I run out of things to do on one day after a few hours, so I TT to stay occupied :) and since i'm quarentining with online school, theres nothing better to do to kill time when I am not doing homework :)

Don't you have that issue I mentioned above of having nothing to do the day after if you go back to the real date?

I TT'd hard in New Leaf. It honestly killed my motivation to keep playing after I perfected my town much quicker then I normally would had I not TT'd. Going into New Horizons I decided I'd have a strict no TT policy this time around and I'm enjoying the game a lot more. The biggest positive is that I actually get really excited for what's coming in game the next day!

We'll see if that holds up a month down the road though. Right now there seems to be enough to do since I've had to just grind out bells for the loan payoffs. That's enough to keep me busy at least.

I haven't gone back to the real date! I probably will in the future when time locked events start happening, but as of right now I'm just going forward

There's always the same stuff to do the day after. Hit rocks, talk to villagers, water flowers, check in for nook miles, check into nook miles shop for reset goods, etc. You're not going to not have the same things you'd have to do daily regardless.

With the current quarantine, I need to TT to aid my boredom hahaha ~

I think everyones game is obviously their copy, and you can choose to do with it what you wish. If you want faster progress, then just TT! You will not be condemned to animal crossing hell just for doing it.

Yeah, I ask myself the same question and I came to the conclusion that I should TT. I want to progress more in the game and since i'm in lockdown I have nothing better to do. I shouldn't feel guilty playing my game this way. Each person plays differently so it is up to the player if they want to TT or not.

I TT'd a lot in new leaf and have held off in this game, but I think i'll start TT'ing soon. I definitely wanted to play the first few days as intended to get a feel for the pace and atmosphere of the game, but with quarantine right now i've been playing pretty feverishly and have probably racked up ~30+ hours and am running out of things to do lmao. AC has been great for my mental health in the weird state of the world rn so I want to be able to play it to distract myself and will probably be TT'ing atleast until town hall opens in the next few days. Remember that there is no wrong way to play, whatever gives you the most enjoyment is what you should do regardless of others' opinions.

Overall it is how you want to play. For me personally it ruins it for me, I like playing as intended, here and there just chilling. Its not meant to have instant gratification or a fast game, its a slow game and feels even slower with new horizons. The developers disagree with TT but there is no good solution without sacrificing other aspects so it just get left. Its may some similarities to Harvest moon type games but not intended to be played like them. There is always be a back forth in the community to do it or not to do and that is up to you.

In my opinion, the quarantine is the reason you shouldn't time travel. You can pick it up for spurts throughout the day when you need unwind. You might find yourself having less to do as you speed through the days and your desire to play it less as you reach your goals. There's always something to do with the Nook Miles+ feature and people to visit. The choice is yours, though. Do what you want to do.

I'm not TTing! I want to so badly, I'm on the third day with nothing new to do besides get Nook Miles and try to get Nook Tickets with ROSES on the island! (Please, PLEASE!) but I keep getting orange windflowers and oranges :(

I personally don't like time traveling because it ruins the fun of the next day for me. I like having something to look forward to the next day and just enjoying the game. I don't have tons of time to binge either, so there is no point for me to time travel.

I TT'd a lot in New leaf, it allowed me to cycle villagers for people, progress faster etc... I loved it and it made new leaf very enjoyable (and I played for at least 2 years there) However, I have gone into New Horizons not wanting to do that, I have had very little time to tt anyway so I might as well go through each day. In my experience, you miss out on a lot (ie: there are still events in new leaf I haven't experienced yet due to tt) and don't (at least eventually) do everything as throughly as you would without tt. New Horizons has been very entertaining every day for me especially as I get to know all of it's new features, online play, exploring the different levels etc so I haven't been tempted. I feel like this game as with all ac games, has a lot of added details to its predecessors and I just don't think tt will allow for the best island results. As said before, regardless of tt, it's the same things you do everyday with exception for events and unlocking new things so if you are planning on tt, I wouldn't until you have at least set up all of the basic on your island and unlocked everything. It may also be worth while waiting until there is an abundance of info on the game like there is for New Leaf so that you can be more informed when you tt and have the answers to your questions.

Time locked events are also a consideration you should make.

Play how you want to play

I've had way more fun time travelling. The pace of the game is very, very slow otherwise in my opinion. People on Reddit are posting all their stacks of fish and bugs because they didn't time travel. To me that's not fun. I want to move forward and unlock stuff, not be stuck fishing and bug hunting all day.

I started out on a town with my siblings. And then I loved the game so much I got my own Switch and copy. I will admit I time traveled the 1st day just so I could visit to get my stuff from my 1st character.

It's ultimately up to you and it's your game you paid $60 for so do whatever you want.

I don't like TT'ing as I get burned out and, eventually, bored of the game.
It just loses its charm in my opinion.
If I have "nothing" to do, I go fishing or do island tours to collect materials or other bugs/fish.
I actually find it relaxing after I finish the day and can just get out there and fish... but to each their own.
There's really no right or wrong way to play this game.
