Town Name Origins

I named my town "Rivendel" because I am a huge Lord of the Ring/Hobbit fan. I was sad that I didn't have room to complete the proper spelling. My town tune is the "Concerning Hobbits" theme, but I like a lot of fandoms so I have Doctor Who and anime things in my town as well.

Nice name~ I love Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as well. My town tune is also "Concerning Hobbits"! I have another character that I use for more storage/patterns named Bilbo too c:

Anyway, my town is named Tanpopo, which means dandelion in Japanese. I also created my own anime character a long time ago named Popo. So, I used my favorite Japanese word that happens to include popo :3

I named my town Velfa, was named after my least favorite map in an MMO I play.

:v

I named my town Rocky, after my favorite rapper, ASAP rocky (the guy in my avi).

Named my town after the continent/halidom of Ylisse from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Eventually I hope to make it a little FE themed outside of the town flag and tune, but for now it's still barebones.

I named my town Halcyon for a few reasons. The first reason is that the word "halcyon" means to be at a state of peace, calmness, and tranquility, all of which fit this game quite nicely.

The second reason is a nod to the Greek myth of Alcyone, the daughter of Aeolus, who married Ceyx, son of Eosphorus, the Morning Star.

For those interested, the myth is as follows (summarized, of course): The two lived happily together and would sacrilegiously call each other "Zeus" and "Hera". This angered Zeus, so, while Ceyx was at sea, he threw a lightning bolt destroying his ship. Upon this happening, Ceyx appeared to Alcyone in an apparition, telling her of his fate. Alcyone then threw herself into the sea out of grief and sadness. To show compassion, the gods turned the two lovers into Halcyon (Kingfisher) birds, named after Alcyone herself.

Also, it sounded cool.

My town is called Kougami, after the Kougami Corporation (and its founder) in Kamen Rider OOO. My town flag is black with red kanji meaning "kaiju", in tribute to Pacific Rim.

I started ACNL without thinking of a name for the town. I'm bad at thinking of names. I was sitting in my basement eating animal crackers, and they tasted sweet, so I named my town Sweets.

It took me a few minutes of thought while staring at the ACNL screen at Rover asking where I was going.

I settled on "Viaje" because one of the things I'm studying at university is Spanish. Viaje means voyage, journey, or trip in spanish. I figured that being the mayor of a new town was a journey in itself, plus, this'll make the next installment of Animal Crossing that I've played, continuing my journey of communicating with animals.

Since this is my first AC game I didn't know you had to name your town. So I googled "Cute town names for Animal Crossing" or something and there was a list of random eight character town names. I took the beginning of one, "Blue..." and the end of another "...star" and got Bluestar.

Paradise
From Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to infinity.

I loved the name of that so much, and I decided that I would make my town just like a paradise.

Twinleaf! It's the stating town for pokemon diamond/pearl. Just like the name for some reason :)

My town is Jadzia-- it's named after a Star Trek's Chief science officer from Deep Space 9. Her name sounds beautiful to my ears,

Like her too!
Anubia - once long ago when I was about 6 or 7 years old we (family) where going down the Nile and my old man was explaining migration and migration routes of tribes within the continent and mentioned that our tribe migrated from the area hence the unusual dialect. Nubia being an ancient land - part of southern Egypt and Northern Sudan. I combined Anubis and Nubia to come up with Anubia - with the town flag complete with hieroglyphs - only problem is those animals are taking their time requesting the sphinx and pyramids- I will wait patiently..

I named my town Tokyo because I'm a huge fan of the actual city. It's a personal dream of mine to visit some day, hopefully soon! Tokyo was also the name of my Wild World town so I was already attached with it by the time New Leaf came around.
