It's not the theft that will result in a swift and painful punishment that bothers me, it's that I don't want to wake up in my John Wick themed town of Parabellum, with a giant pastel mermaid princess statue built outside my house. O_O

If villagers can craft items, I kind of want to see them use a power move. As in grab the last piece of wood of the day and make the item I wanted to make. They don't even use it. They just chilling with it. xD

Yeah, it would most likely be how they go through the motions of fishing and stalking bugs, without actually catching anything.

Still, faux crafting would be a nice new villager animation!

I think it is faux. But it's great to add to the sense of liveliness of the game. Moreover, devs could have thought about novel approach on how to use the villager's inventory when it comes to crafting. If it's not faux, than I think it will be used in clever ways rather than have villagers littering the whole neighbourhood.

That looks cute -- I just hope we don't have to compete with them for resources, and that they won't go placing stuff on the island or dumping it anywhere on their own! Finally having the ability to put furniture outside would be significantly tarnished if you woke up every day to seven new sofas littered around the island... XD
