I'm extremely excited right now because I just got the best volunteer job in the entire world today!! It's one I have been dreaming of doing for years; working at my local animal shelter! :D
Until I turn 16 at the end of June, I will be helping clean out the cat's area, and socializing them as well (basically, I get to pet cats!! EEP!). Since the shift is two hours long, I get lots of extra time to bond with them as well. When I turn 16, I get to work with their dogs. I have to be 16 because they do take in some Pitbulls, but that's not too big of a concern for me. Their cats are super friendly and sweet!! You can meet them here if you'd like: http://www.arcofmecostacounty.com/adoption/cats-available-for-adoption/
Pi is my favorite so far! When I came in to meet the cats for the first time, she jumped right up on my shoulder,, I'm gonna cry,, I CANNOT wait to start one Tuesday oh my gosh
So, with all that out of the way, does anyone else volunteer? If so, what do you do? I'd love to hear about your experiences volunteering as well!

Nice! I've volunteered at pet shelters too and it's tons of work, but a lot of fun! I volunteered for a few years during university in an after school program for immigrant and refugee kids which was probably my favourite volunteering job I've had. I was also a volunteer camp counsellor in high school before I could actually work for money. Good old child labour laws.

Congrats on the awesome volunteer job, that sounds like a lot of fun! I haven't volunteered for anything yet, but it's always been something I want to do. I have some social anxiety, which sort of has been preventing me from going to a volunteer office, but I'm hoping that if I can't handle a formal volunteer job, I can appoint myself to trash pick-up by just going on long walks and picking up garbage.

Actually, a big reason I'm doing this is to help me be more social! Of course, it's mainly because I love animals, but I'm also trying to get out and see people more. I tend to be very antisocial and haven't had a friend in years, so I figure getting out will help a little. :)

I've gotta say, I really respect what you've done for those kids. That was really nice of you to do! I volunteered at the long-term care unit (bringing movies to the elderly) and I loved it so much.

Congrats!

I've only ever volunteered at my school. I may help out at different organizations this summer, though.

Aw congrats on the fun volunteering job! These pets are all good and wholesome.

I used to volunteer more when I was part of a volunteering organization in high school. We did a lot of communal and organizational events like helping at a child development institution with raising awareness about child's motor skill or handing out food and drinks to marathon runners at the end of race. After I graduated high school, I've volunteered here and there, but it wasn't as often. It was even more difficult when I landed a job and picked up hours like it's free samples

I volunteered over 200 hours of community service when I was in private high school

Hello there. Glad to know about your volunteering. Volunteering is one of the best things that one can experience once in the lifetime. One can certainly make a big difference in someone's life by volunteering and helping them. I haven't volunteered yet, but one of my colleagues has shared a great an experience of volunteering with mission humanitaire Afrique and also suggested me to join an NGO to aid the needy people.

Thats awesome! Id love to do something like that since im planning to go to vet school but unfortunately i live in a kinda secluded area and i dont have any nearby animal shelters! I do volunteering in the summer holidays, though, and its something that really changed me and how i view life! I deliver dinner to homeless people, and its been a really important experience for me.

I cannot help but love reading about all your stories of volunteering and helping others. I'm going to volunteer this summer if I can. I've been offered to work at a family store for no pay at all, and I may just take them up on that offer.

All your stories are absolutely wonderful, I love hearing your experiences so much! A big special thank you to anyone who shared their stories, you're all such amazing people ♥
