Usually I can TT back to June of 2020 to get wedding items from Cyrus but now it seems like the 2020 wedding event is inaccessible. It's likely because the event is coming up next month, but really?
I'm quite surprised they would retroactively lock the event since the wedding items have been available for almost a year now.

Other time travelers, are you still able to access the event?

all I can say is you better get used to it, since this looks like it'll be the norm going forward

(basically, if an update period is for a past holiday/event, expect the old one to now be inaccessible post-update)

So dumb but this does seem to be the case.

They've essentially made old items inaccessible for a month before re-releasing them in a recycled event.

yeah, it really is quite dumb, tbh. though nothing to do about it, except just hold off on updating, if you feel you'll need to get more of x holiay/event items in the meantime

they should be making them inaccessible starting with the very next update after they're added/revived

It almost seems like this game is catering towards more to non TTers. The "Correct" way to play the game, whereas not giving freedom to the TTers.

Now until next month the wedding items seem to have an inflation I would bet due to this.

Figured that would have been clear when we found out events would be time-locked. Actually kinda surprised though that they made it so you can't TT back to it. It's not even a holiday, lol.

If anyone needs some of the older wedding items though, lmk and I can prolly find time to get some, free of charge.

All events and seasonal Nook Shopping items before August 1, 2020 are inaccessible and unobtainable. That's because all of those events are moved into 2021.

I’m curious what this will mean for future events. At some point I’m sure they will stop updates for the game. Will that mean they will just permanently add the events or will they just not be there anymore.

I'm sure in their last update they will unlock all events and items across all years.
Right now they tweak and change things so I can kinda get why they would want to lock off the previous years version that was different.

Once we reach the point where all items are finally put in the game (the final update), then surely they will no longer bother with timelocks. They need to keep everything accessible for future players as well.

That makes sense thanks. I was curious just in case I ever restart my second island as well as anyone that buys the game later.

The Wedding Season has been time locked. So there is no way to access the event or the items.

To that is called "Drip Feed" that means that they are holding back items from releasing up until the actual date to come. They've been doing this since November 2020.

Yep.

Nintendo has removed some of the old holidays from 2020 like the Wedding event and Rover's maze with the latest patch. You can't TT back and redo those events anymore if you updated your game.

Any events or holidays that have been updated for this year, will be gone from the 2020 lineup. This includes all seasonal orderable stuff to. I'm mixed on this. It does feel like there is less freedom, while also padding NH as having the most freedom/creativity.

We can only assume that Nintendo/the NH crew will give us a final full update at the end of its life, but there's no way to be certain of that. WW has some core gameplay missing due to the fact that Nintendo stopped support of its online and that locked players out of its final shop upgrade or something of the such. So this wasn't the first time that something like this happened and it could very well repeat if they don't do anything.

I actually don't mind some exclusivity to items. Limited time (or even regional) items are sort of exciting, and we have more than enough storage to manage them. So long as the game is supported for many years I'm OK with it.

I dunno, it's only fun for those who have them because it makes them feel special.
Its never fun to be told you're too late and can't have something you want.

TBH, I'm not all that bothered by this. Don't get me wrong, I hate how this game seems to be designed to impair time travelers (despite it being allowed and a playstyle for a lot of players since the beginning- it feels like Nintendo is catering to the people who feel morally superior for never TTing) but they're only becoming unavailable when they're about to come back into season anyway. If it just means being patient for a month now, I can handle that. Plus, we'll be getting new items then, too (I'm so pumped for that bell- gonna put one right outside my resident services as a town bell!)

Now, if they start locking them completely outside of the limited time windows, I'll be super annoyed.

I mean, you can always trade for them- that also gives players who may not have a lot of bells a chance to get something that will have some value. I personally don't mind that as much as, say, items or villagers (*cough*Sanrio*cough*) that you absolutely 100% CANNOT get unless you do or have something specific.

But, in this case, it's not about being too late- at this point, you're too EARLY, and just need to wait until June.

Not everyone can pay for NSO, so no, you can't always trade for them. :( It's already obnoxious enough to have to help people who don't have NSO find items they want. I truly feel bad about it when I can't get a free trial code to them or they don't have it available or w/e.

That said, timelocked is entirely fine. I am a huge TTer, and frankly, I thin people just need to realize sometimes you have to wait. It's not like it won't come. Chillax.

Ah, that's true. Sometimes I forget you can't do that for free on Switch 😅

But, again, it doesn't matter too much in this case- you just need to be patient. It looks like all the old items are returning in addition to the new ones, so no big deal.

If their event was indeed a one-time thing and it's locked away for good now, this kinda further emphasizes why they should really just find permanent roles for Reese and Cyrus on the island.
