After a busy week, I'm happy to have finally caught up on seeing what you've all been up to in this thread!
So happy to see so many successes for you all, and happy to see more cute Keagan pictures
@Croconaw!
I'm sorry if I'm replying to some of your news a bit late, but just happy to see that you're having successes or doing well.
I am happy today because my mom is cancer free. We have to go back for scans every couple of months but she is now cancer free
.
I am so happy for both of you Azurill! That is amazing news, and wishing all the best for your mum's health moving forward!
Hope you are both enjoying the good news.
➣ I haven’t posted anything about this, but for the past week and half I’ve been slowly recovering from a collapsed lung. My mom had one many years ago and she was hospitalized for five days. I’m glad mine was nowhere near that severe. I was told minor cases usually resolve on their own in time, and I’m feeling 95% better, I’d say. My favorite person comforted me through the whole thing. I’m not sure I would’ve handled it so well without her. I can’t wait to hug her tomorrow, lol.
➣ I battled last night with a friend on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I always enjoy playing with her.
➣ I worked at both of my jobs today so that’s nice for the paychecks. It was very slow and not much was going on the whole day at either job. What a nice paycheck for how little work I had to do today. I also received my paycheck today thanks to the holiday pay!
I can't believe I didn't know you had a collapsed lung until now.
I'm so glad you're feeling better. I hope it wasn't too painful or uncomfortable.
Im an offical Graphic Designer as of today!!
Graduated and certified. Im still soaking it in! I never thought I'd actually make it this far
Its been such a long road and Im so happy I never gave up. Because I tend to doubt myself alot, but wow. I actually did it
This is amazing Cylie! Congratulations! I know you've been working towards it for a while, so I'm so happy you've finished!
- my mom is doing great at the physio rehab centre. She's already moving her right arm & leg a bit which is great cause the hospital people didn't know if my mom would ever move her right side again
- me and my partner have spent the last 3 days straight cleaning my parents house up so it can be made wheelchair accessible. Hopefully my mom will be happy when she comes home in a couple weeks
- I got so many new tshirts and athletic shorts from my moms closet and most of it still had tags of them. I also took this floor length yellow floral dress. I have no where to wear this dress but it is so damn beautiful. She has a lot of clothes so I didn't even make a dent in her closet. Maybe no more shopping for her lol
- I got another one of those mccain deep & delicious freezer cakes
So glad to see you managed to get your mum a spot at a physio rehabilitation centre, and that she's been making improvements.
I can't imagine how hard it's been for you, but I think you're amazing to have been working so hard to support her coming home soon.

Some things I'm happy about today
- I've been participating in a research/industry program with some post-docs that's been taking up more time than I expected, and today was the last official day of it, so as informative as it was, I'm super pleased that it's (mostly) finished.
- We won an award as part of the program and so had to travel for it for 3 days. I left home Monday and arrived back home yesterday (Wednesday). I'm a bit tired and dehydrated, but I'm really glad to be home!
- I didn't really have any free time while travelling, but we did have to eat at least. It was mostly croissants for breakfast, and for dinner on the first night I had a vegetable yellow curry and steamed rice. On the second night I had pad thai, papaya salad and fried rice. I also had a watermelon and lemon soda, which was delicious. The second restaurant also had a robot waiter, and I love it. I'm generally a bit introverted, so my social battery is definitely empty.
- I wasn't able to participate in the Celebrating Diversity event this year , but I got to look through all the entries and they are all really special. I love reading what everyone shares here. Also so flattered to see my little rep in @/Firesquids entry. I had two ideas that I wanted to draw, but ultimately didn't get to execute, so I may as well share them here. Idea one was a multi-panel drawing, featuring AC villagers holding signs about all of them being loved regardless of their differences, the same way you are all loved. The second was going to be two AC-style reps sharing food. This idea was prompted by my colleagues. I have, or have had, colleagues who grew up in so many different places. One thing that sometimes brings us together is eating out. Eating out with my colleagues has been something I have had to ease into, but I've been exposed to so many good foods! And also some foods I don't like too (I'm looking at you ramen).
One occasion that really sticks with me was when I was having a really busy day, and I hadn't eaten all day. Another PhD student, originally from the Phillipines, had been to a Filipino bakery she likes, and she had brought me in a purple yam ensaymada, because she remembered I had tried part of one and liked it! If you haven't had an ensaymada, my best description of the purple yam ensaymada is a sweet bread, stuffed with a purple yam filling, and then it's topped with more purple yam filling like a frosting, sugar, and then cheese is sprinkled on top. I prefer it without the cheese, but it's still delicious either way! She didn't know I hadn't eaten, but this occasion stuck with me because it was a really sweet and thoughtful gesture. Discovering ensaymadas also helped me learn about Filipino history, as ensaymadas originate from Spain, as the Phillipines was previously Spanish-controlled. Before that, I didn't know that the Phillipines had a long history of being controlled/occupied by other countries.
- I saw my family last week for a birthday, and then saw my mum on Sunday again.
- Lastly, I went for a short run today.
- I'm still expecting to be busy for basically the rest of the year, but at the moment, happy to have completed some things so I can focus on other things.
I think this is my longest post in here yet, so I'm sorry for any spelling/grammatical errors!
Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the week!
