What are you reading?

I am currently reading The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune! My eReader says I'm about halfway through. So far I'm really enjoying it! It's a fantasy novel which is what I lean towards and while it's not a romance per-say there is a romance blossoming and it's gay which I'm happy about.

I also recently started reading the non-fiction book Uniquely Human by Barry M. Prizant. The book talks about autism. I have a little boy in my care this year who we think may be autistic but he hasn't been formally diagnosed. I'm hoping that the book will give me more insight and a better understanding of how he sees the world!

Finished the 2nd mistborn book ‘The Well of Ascension’ and rated that one 5/5 stars too. Onto the last one, ‘The Hero of Ages’ and I cannot wait to devour it. I’m around 40% through and will more than likely continue delving into the cosmere after this series. Brandon Sanderson is a genius!

Two days ago I've started reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It had been waiting for 2 years, I think, so I'm happy to finally get to it.

Oooo this is on my TBR! I’ve heard so many good things about it. Please let me know your thoughts!

I finished Hero of Ages, the third book in the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve never felt so whole after finishing a book series ending. So many twists I didn’t expect (although unsure how I didn’t see them coming!!) and I love how it ended on a (minor) cliffhanger too. Just perfect. 5/5 stars.

This year I’ve read 24 books all together (24 in 2024 hehe), and although I don’t have a set goal in mind for next year, I just want to read more - so I guess I’ll set that goal for 25 in 2025 😎
Need a palate cleanser book (or two) before I move onto warbreaker, so I’m thinking “Butter” which has been on my tbr for a while, and something else although that’s undecided atm.

Last night I finished How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying by Django Wexler, and it was okay. I kinda wish I didn't buy this book.

I'm going to be reading Dandadan volume one now!

I've been reading The Time Traveler's Wife because I was recommended after asking for a sad book. I have a feeling about how it might end and it's giving me some dread.

I've started reading The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde because it's a classic piece of literature I never had the chance to read before. I'm also going into it blindly because I don't really know what the story is really about, it's very interesting.

I finished Hyperion yesterday and have already started the next book. It's hard to say much without going into details. There were things that I liked, some that I didn't, but the story is intriguing and the whole book strongly feels like an introduction to something bigger (it's the first part after all). Overall I liked the vibes and have high hopes for the next books in the series.

I'm currently going through a reading burn out because of mental health stuff, but I'm hoping to read Gideon of the ninth soon because its been recommended to me. I'm excited to read it!

I listen to audiobooks while I work and recently just finished, Final Girls by Riley Sager, A Holiday Homicide by Ellie Alexander and Sleep Tight by J.H. Markert. I enjoyed listening to them but Sleep Tight was my least favorite and Final Girls was my favorite! Check them out!
I appreciate any recommendations

Started reading Macbeth in school today, and it's pretty interesting! Unfortunately I have to write a 1 A4 page summary/analysis of the first scene so that's not fun

Also reading a Christopher Paolini book, but I can't remember the name because I don't tend to look at titles, and I always forget book names.

I haven't been here in a while, so here's a quick reading recap:

I read The Sword of Summer and The Hammer of Thor for my last two books of 2024, and I read 30 books last year! I've upped my goal to 40 this year, but I'm unsure if I'll reach it. I started this year off in a slump because I was unable to buy the third Magnus Chase book (and I still can't but I wanna know what happenssss), and it took me way too long to finish my 250-page ebook, I only finished it 2 days ago and I started on the 2nd.

Said ebook was Katathon by Janani K. Jha (formerly J. Maya). It's the companion novella to her debut album, "The Rest of the Laurels". It was kind of like if Percy Jackson and The Hunger Games had a baby in hell... the nine levels of hell from Dante's "Inferno", to be exact. The concept was cool and I was excited to read it, but it didn't end up hitting the way I expected. The plot was decently paced at the beginning, then dragged on in the middle, and was rushed at the end. The fact that it was an ebook may have had something to do with it, as I'm much more used to physical books. I think I would've finished it in one sitting if it were a physical book.

Anyway, I just started Six of Crows a few hours ago, and I've been loving it so far! I'll for sure be rushing to purchase the sequel once I'm finished! Thank you for reading my little rant, and happy reading!
