Thought this would be a decent thread and I haven't seen one on here.
Anyway, today I learned that hyenas are actually more closely related to cats than they are to dogs. Basically, the order carnivora is split into 2 suborders, caniforms (canines) and feliforms (felines). Hyenas, despite looking a lot like dogs are actually in the feliform suborder, meaning wolves and dogs are more closely related to bears than they are to hyenas.
