What is the Purpose of TBT Bells ?

I can't for the life of me figure out what they're used for ; A ;
I mean, I can see that you can use them to buy collectibles,
but what is the purpose of those ?
And are collectibles the only things people use TBT bells for ?
Someone please enlighten me on the currency here ; o ;

You can buy in-game flowers and bushes, villagers, codes for Club Nintendo, there's a ton of uses.

If you go to the TBT marketplace forum people exchange them for goods and services including in game acnl bells at a great price! You can also get collectibles you missed in the shops, but they get pricey.

Actually the purpose of them was simply to buy collectibles and account upgrades from the shop. That was their intended purpose. They just happen to have a lot of other uses.

They're just for decoration, and bragging rights if you get your hands on a rare one. Some collectibles were only available for short times, so they're rarer than others, meaning a lot of people want them. The party popper, for example, was only from the New Year.

the TBT going rate right now is about 2.8 million in game bells so If you didn't want collectables/anything in TBT market place you could make a post and net yourself 55mil+
