Just curious, would like to hear how many you went through and hear some stories. Some people go through a crazy amount, and some get lucky in a few tickets.

I was so frustrated and impatient at the start of the game that I just bought amiibo cards.

i think the most nmt i've spent island hopping was like 1000 or something last year while looking for dobie, i never found him but my cousin gave him to me then i gave him to my sister and she voided him 😅
then the most i spent buying a villager was 150 on raymond for my second island

i did once find megan in 2 tickets and judy in 28 so that was pretty lit

i got all the amiibos i could want so i don't buy villagers or go island hopping much anymore unless i want one of the new villagers, which is unlikely at this point

Around 30 is a good amount to find someone that I like. For a villager that I was specifically looking for, my fastest was 6 tickets.

It used to be around 50 or, but now probably 150+ or so. The difference is now I buy tickets from people on here, whereas I used to buy them myself with Nook Miles. But I'm usually not seeking a specific villager (and, when I am, I've never found that EXACT villager, lol) and more just looking for a fun one. I like island-hopping a lot, too, and find it relaxing so I'm never really in a hurry.

You really scare me all of you  I have a little list of villagers I want, spent 17NMT yet and found nobody of them so I'm not sure I want to spend 1000 tickets in one day

I would say around 50. Island hopping feels like a long boring grind to me so I loose patience fast. I also don't have many NMTs on hand since I used to get them myself so when I see a villager that I think I'll moderately like, I go ahead and snag them.

Now I resort to buying fan made amiibo cards and NMTs on here to speed up the process.

i spent around 500 looking for peaches... normally i use spoofed amiibo but that's not always an option. as for my average, i guess i'd say 100 or so? i think it would be way less if i were to just look for any villager i like rather than being picky and searching for a villager i like within a specific personality or one specific villager out of nearly 400.

I also started buying amiibo cards partially for this reason. I think the most I have done in one day terms of mystery islands was somewhere in the 20s.

I think the most NMT I spent island hopping was around 60. Usually I don't go looking for one specific villager but I have a list of about 40 I really like and another few dozens who I wouldn't really mind. I always get pleasant surprises this way! A lot of "rare" villagers showed up within just a handful of tickets and usually I just go "ok cool" and take them back home 🤷‍♀️ The dialogues and loading screens really get on my nerves so I'm not sure I have a several 100 NMT hunt in me ^^'

20-40 on a hunt. Usually I get bored after that and look for whoever I want online! I did spend over 100 NMT buying the villager outright from someone online once as well. But typically prefer that 40 nmt range for common villagers!

I didn't spend a ton of tickets to get my villagers. I think I might have done 2-3 trips for each of the personalities (not counting the starters and smug). I decided to take a chance on some new faces, so when I met Flora and Dobie, I invited both. Filbert, Lolly, Purrl, and Gruff are all old friends, and I tripped on them, too. Once I had everyone, I was lucky enough to see that I had cards for all but one (Cherry), so I moved them out and back, in order to get rid of the starter houses (I was able to get Cherry's, so she's out of the starter, as well). The only one I kept was Flora, since I'm not crazy about her default.

I do have a friend who spent a ton of tickets to get her villagers, but she was looking for a specific color combination, and her son wanted all monkeys and gorillas for his island. It would make sense that the narrower your scope, the harder it is to get them.

I burn out quickly when island hopping. Last time I think I spent 10-15 tickets and stopped looking (wasn't going for anyone in particular.) I let the game decide and got Diva. 🤦

I had lots of amiibo cards after playing New Leaf, so it was a while before a villager moved out naturally. My first time going out, I resolved to do no more than 20 tickets per sitting. I found Raymond on the 18th trip.

However, I also don't go island hopping very often, and when I do, I usually take the first villager I haven't had before.

somehow i only ever spend less than 20. drago was one of my ult dreamies and i got him on the sixth ticket. almost took sherb on the third !

Usually my limit is 60-80 tickets.

But I ended spending over 120 over a span of a couple of days looking for Skye...

It also doesn't help that I always get lots of villagers 2-3 times which means I'm just wasting tickets. 😥

I would say around ~50 as well. I wouldn't consider myself super picky about villagers, theres tons of villagers that I absolutely adore! My issue is that I am always trying to avoid personality and species repeats which means I can't always just accept the first villager that I like.
