carol of the bells, played on handbells
it just sounds so chrismassy and pretty, I'm usually more of an instrumental person when it comes to christmassy stuff
I'm partial towards "The First Noel" because of positive childhood memories. I've also always thought "Auld Lang Syne" has a really pretty melody (although that's more New Year's-related than Christmas)
As for my least favourite song - I find "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" to be boring and overdone.
It may come as no surprise with my avatar and signature pic, but my favorite Christmas songs are from the 1966 How the Grinch Stole Christmas special. You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch is hands down the best, but Trim Up the Tree is cute and upbeat, and Welcome Christmas does give me a very uplifting feeling.
Other than that, I love the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I can't really name my favorite song from them since I just let the album play and never check the titles, but there really isn't a bad one in the bunch.
it's always been my family's tradition to listen to the chipmunk's christmas album while putting up the christmas tree/decorations so those are always super nostalgic for me haha
(no why are these so old it hasnt been that long has it)
additionally the artwork for "christmas eve and other stories" and "the christmas attic" specifically rocks my socks off
This Christmas (preferably sung by soul/r&b artists)
Otis Redding - Merry Christmas, Baby
Aly and AJ - Not This Year (bubblegum pop but in the form of an anti-holiday song lol)
Destiny's Child - Opera of the Bells
Mariah Carey - O Holy Night
Christina Aguilera - Angels We Have Heard on High
For me, it's generally about WHO is singing, not WHAT is being sung.
