Lazies have always been my favs. The bug obsession in NH doesn't bother me since bugs are such a big part of AC anyways and it's kind of cute, but I do think they play up their childish traits way too much in this one. In previous games they came across as more 'endearing manchild' than 'actual toddler'. (the gravy letter, for instance. ugh.) Still, they tend to have the funniest dialogue in this game so they are still my favs.
Smugs (and peppies now since they seem basically the same to me in NH, just with different genders) are my least favorites. I didn't really like smugs in NL aside from a few with interesting designs and I don't much care for them here either. Peppies in this game are overbearing with the constant ' OMG WE'RE TOTES BFFS NOW' (esp. when they've only been in your town like a day...) type dialogue AND the idol-wannabe/fame obsession that smugs have.
Most favorite - usually Lazy though I'm not as big on their bug obsession dialogue in NH...it would probably be less noticed if there was more dialogue overall but between the obsession just feeling a bit out of place and it being so repetitive - it's sometimes meh for me
Least favorite - Smug though I feel I tolerate them more in NH than previous versions..most likely again because of the lack of dialogue so I haven't felt like they are as cringey as in previous games with all the flirtatious dialogue
When it comes to the villagers that I like especially with their designs I tend to like normal villagers and lazy villagers. I’m not a huge fan of most of the uchi villager designs so if I had to pick a least favorite villager type I guess uchi. I’m also just not entirely sure what sets their personality apart from others, except maybe being kinda tough like? But sometimes the cranky villagers will act a little tough too so idk
Smug are my favorites, for some reason I always get really attached to them despite hating them at first. Their pompous attitude also leads to some really fun situations. Quillson wouldn't stop going on and on about his superious taste in decor, he even sent me a letter with a gift attached boasting about the amazing piece of art he just found but it was fake
My least favorites are either peppy or lazy. Peppy because if I hear that dialogue about "the sun travelling for 10,000 years only to shine on their faces" one more time I'm going to twist someone's neck. Lazy because I always end up with too many of them so I'm a bit fed up with them but there are so many cute lazy villagers! I have 3 on my island right now, I love them but I'm so bored of talking to them

Uchi is my favorite personality because they always act the most like an actual person, imo. Like they have backstories and jokes that make sense and don't seem corny or exaggerated. Unfortunately I tend to dislike their actual designs, though.
My least favorite is jock. They need to change the subject more.
I like the snooty ones because they feel like older-sisters. They’re kind-but not too kind. My least favorite ones are the peppy because their dialouge feels so fake and annoying.
My favorite villager personality is smug, with the caveat that I haven't seen what they're like in New Horizons yet. Hopefully they're still just as romantic and eccentric as they are in New Leaf.
My least favorite pre-NH would probably be snooty. I don't actually dislike them, I just feel like snooty is not a very good descriptor for how they actually act. I've had conversations with snooties and normals, with the normal being a little more snippy. They're more like older Peppy villagers, with their usage of words like 'totally' and all the talk about how they used to be stars (at least in New Leaf).
In NH, my least favorite is definitely lazy. They took what used to be a cute and innocently mischievous personality and turned it into Billy from Billy and Mandy. Gross.
I'll vote for Smug cause I love many of the designs and find their personality at least somewhat interesting. As a gay male, I can relate to a little of what they say as well since they can be a bit dramatic.
Not sure on a least favorite though as most of the others have something that bugs me. Snooty is solid all around though. Cranky has A LOT that don't fit the dialogue creating a rift between their appearance and what they say especially with the rock star or punk looking guys talking like they can't work a cell phone. Normal is really solid but also so vanilla and one note they all melt together into one soup. They do have a few that pop like Merengue though. Peppy and Sisterly have good personalities and are entertaining, but most of their designs are not my taste. Reneigh is a queen though, saved me from having to settle for a Sisterly with her S tier design. I actually like Jocks, but they do suffer to the same feeling dialogue as Normals. Their designs feel more varied overall however. Lazys are a bit overly a slobs with the bugs and stains all over their home, but they also have some really cute lines and designs.
I may go with Lazy as my least favorite since they go to sleep early and I typically don't get home from work till late. This causes me to have to wake up early to gift them or possibly miss out on them.
My favorite is Normal because they are all so sweet and just... I want to hug them so much. My least favorite is Lazy because they kind of come off as a little gross to be honest. They're getting food stains all over, and apparently their house is filled with bugs. I even had one one time say that he had a food stain on his shirt, but it was okay because he was able to suck it all out. That was Erik, whom I really wanted for Christmas time and now I'm so ready for him to leave.
I think for right now my favorite would have to be the jocks. They have really funny dialogue and some of my favorite villagers (Antonio) are Jocks. I don’t find the sportiness theme to be too overwhelming, it’s almost like a normal male who likes to exercise.
Speaking of Antonio, he walks around with a chocolate covered donut and I’ll never get over that, lmao.
My least favorite are lazy and peppy in the sense that they are the villagers I get tired of most quickly. They do say some really cute things though. Sisterly villagers can also get tiring but I've had Muffy and Reneigh for a long time and still love them both.
Smug, snooty, and cranky are my favorites. And jocks are sweethearts.
Normal villagers can be adorable but when they take forever to give me their photos, I get frustrated with them.
In ACNH I like the uchi personality the most (voted for that one), but I also really like crankies and jocks. My least favorite would probably be smug, except for Huck. I think I like Huck because his house is very down to earth (he basically lives in a straw hut) and that really influences my perception of him. I also sadly don't like normals that much in this game since I find them a bit bland. I feel like they have so much potential but are really lacking a little something special, ya know. Also I wish lazys didn't talk about bugs so much lol
In ACNL I really did not like jocks or smugs at all (except Pietro), nor did I like peppy that much. I thought the jocks and smugs were super obnoxious and peppies were annoying most of the time. I really liked cranky, lazy, and uchi personalities in that game a lot.
My favorite are crankies. They’re very endearing. The uchis as well they’re super cool but unfortunately the villager designs limit the ones I want. Opposite case for normals since I find them to have the most designs I like villager wise but they’re just so boring to me so it’s difficult.
I wouldn’t say I have a personality type I don’t really like as it all depends on the actual villager for me. Like the peppy dialogue can really go from cute to annoying real quick depending on who says it but same goes for smugs, lazies, snooties and jocks so I guess it’s all pretty much villager dependent rather than personality dependent.
I dont know why but I just really like the normal personality, maybe its just because a lot of the villagers i like are normal but . My least favorite is probably the cranky just cuz their personalities are not my forte. I like them but if I had to rank them all that would be at the bottom
