What part of the map do you usually place your home, and is ACNH placement different for you than previous games?
In past games I used to always live by the beach, and I find it funny that now I live way at the top of my map in the complete opposite direction. Maybe i was just tired of the beach and wanted something different. I guess I shouldn't have moved to an island then huh? lol

I don't have a particular preference. In NL, I placed my house near town hall because I wanted to pretend that my character was a responsible mayor. In NH my main character's house is on the third level of the north-west corner of my island.

Im not sure, In NL I don't remember at all what caused me to place my house where it is, but it was kind of by townhall and also kind of by a river and bridge so I guess I just wanted to be efficient lol? But I came to really like where I had placed it, it was in the middle of the town too so it's easy to walk around.

In New Horizons ive moved my house a few times but every time it always seems so stay in the back of the map, usually off tp the left, weirdly seems to be similar to the other answers here lolll. Idk I had this idea of my rep being in the mountains so I wanted to create that vibe with the cliffs in the back, im not sure it turned out but im working on it lol

I usually like mine near the beaches and initially for NH, I planted mine on a small beach area near my airport but I realized as I expanded my home, it looked a little awkward since I could barely decorate the surrounding area. So I pushed it more inland, closer to Redd's beach (before I knew it'd become his mooring spot) because I wanted to use the beach and tide rocks as an export zone.

I've never had a hard preference for the games where you can choose

for new horizons, my house was initiallly on the southern beach. though now it and all my other player houses are in the approximate middle-right part of the island

I’ve had 4 ACNH islands and in the first 2 I lived near the back on cliffs, on the 3rd I live kinda near the middle in a neighbourhood with 5 of my villagers, and on my current WIP I’m living on the beach (also near the plaza and facilities) but may move my house as I develop the island more. On ACNL I’ve always liked putting my house near the river, and as for PG, WW and CF? I take what I can get lol.

My home is currently on the beach because it's very close to my airport so it's only a quick "walk away".

I chose that out of convenience but now I'm curious about changing it.

Generally very far from the gate, I don't plan on doing that but it always happens. lol I just try to find a nice large spot that's scenic.
You make a great point, now that you mention it. I remember trying to be as far from the gate as possible, which always was the beach, but in NH even though it really doesn’t matter as much in this game I’m still the absolute farthest from the gate, in the back of the map up to the highest level lol

I'd always place my house close to the beach, but I'm thinking of maybe doing it towards the top of the map in the next Animal Crossing game.

Usually in the south of the map, close to the beach, which is also where my shops were on my original island so I was quite well located for those and the airport. I’d also started decorating the southern area of the island first so it was handy to have the house in a permanent spot that felt complete.

I don't really have a preferance. When i first start, i just place it anywhere near the plaza. Then when i unlock terraforming and start decorating, i will figure out where on the map i want to place it.

I haven't really changed my house location, but since we had the chance to put it on the beach that's where I put mine XD
A lilt patch if beach near the airport

In New Leaf I liked the idea of putting houses near waterfalls, and did it a couple times, but then as the houses get bigger it kind of ruins the visual appeal since the house partially blocks it eventually. After I realized that, I decided to just put houses wherever they happened to look nice on the map, depending on whatever other housing plans I have for villagers, other player characters, etc. No real designated place across all towns.

In New Horizons, I decided to have the businesses and major buildings on the front half of the island and all of the residential housing, human and animal alike, on the back half of the island. I figured it would be convenient for visitors if my shops were easily accessible from the airport, so it made sense to have them in the front. Then it made sense to have the residential area separate, plus I like the higher elevation, so yeah.
