What was your highlight of the direct?

finding it hard to pick one highlight as literally every new feature is such a big step forward . I just think the ease of use stuff will come in so handy and make it so much more enjoyable; being able to add stuff to storage from your bag, being able to pick what tool you want to use instead of cycling through - little things like that will make a huge difference in the long run for sure

Everything is so great, but what got lost in all the hype is that indoor decoration is now like Happy Home Designer.

Can I say that the whole direct felt like such a highlight for me? Totally worth it waking up so early.
I was also completely blown away by the terraforming, it's such a good feature

Definitely Island Landscaping and I LOVEEE that there's a dressing room and that we can actually see what the clothes looks like in our inventory! Everything had me screaming honestly

The whole thing was the highlight of my day. I love how we can choose where the next villager will move to! I had really bad experiences with new villagers destroying my gardens in NL and I'm so glad they're fixing that.
Terraforming is really going to change everything and I can't wait to test it out!

The freedom of choice, terraforming and lighting effects causing beautifull scenes (like the museum and night) were my favorite parts of the direct. Can't wait!

The highlights for me were seeing Buck, the museum, the customization (I got really blown away how you can make rivers), and the general lighting of the game.

I ended up watching the Direct late as it was airing at 1am here so I viewed it as soon as I woke up.

As I said in a previous post, everything looks great so far to me and how I initially expected things to pan out.

If I were to say anything negative it’d be that the islands you travel to for gathering additional supplies along with other things look fairly bland. At least not as memorable as Tortimer Island. Maybe that could change though.

It would have been funny to see Mr. Resetti pop up right at the end of the Direct randomly, but...:(

Maybe another drawback for me are the holiday character updates. People have said it’s to prevent TT but the one thing that isn’t really a concern but something to maybe keep note of that I thought about:

If they’re only going to be including holiday characters in updates, it means that eventually once the game becomes unsupported...we may be left with no holidays at all? Could be totally wrong, but yeah. Or, if you were late to the party years down the line in playing the game and updates are no longer supported, you’ll just be stuck with the base game?

This. This is the main thing that I'm a bit concerned about. I wish they would expand on it.

This is what they did with Splatoon2, and it was kind of a bummer

4. (unconfirmed) choose from 3 villagers who moves in next.

I can confirm that is what I also saw and understood from the footage. You'd get to pick who's moving in next from a small pool of characters (in this case 3).

Don’t quote me on it, but I rewatched it, It seems like basic holidays will be there by default

“Through free updates, we plan to introduce special events with seasonal guests and more”

It’s vague, but it seems they want to add on to the pre-existing holidays (so that there’s more than just Toy Day, Halloween, Harvest Festival, Easter and festival) not add them to the game so that there’s more for you to do.

Thinking about it now it might be due to the Northern and Southern Hemisphere differences. Still, it’s something to think about. Lol.
