What was your highlight of the direct?

I ascended when I saw how amazing the museum looks and that we can change the ability to modify cliffs and rivers!

the path making tool! This morning I thought about what I'd like to see in the direct and how cool it would be if there where "official" stone path designs. I was already happy with the dirt paths and didn't exactly expect for my wish to come true!

Everything...

@__@ The hair, the clothes,...the LONG DRESSES...the windows inside the houses! The textures of the flooring! THE VILLAGERS BEING MORE INTERACTIVE...THE MUSEUM. That butterfly exhibit dude. Hnhnhnhnhnhgh. I want it now.

Favorite part was the beautiful museum. It's something I'm looking forward to unlocking and visiting each day.
Next favorite thing is moving houses and shops. Happy I can live on the beach during the summer and move it during fall/winter.

1. Terraforming! Wow, that blew me away!
2. Amiibos; being able to invite my pal Hopper to live there, since I have his amiibo card. I think this was the biggest highlight for me.
3. Shops will be on our island! and we can MOVE them!
4. Being able to go to other islands.

What a terrific Direct.

Nintendo answered all of my questions except one, and that is how many letters we can use in a town name, or for our own name.

TERRAFORMING

Not just because of the ability itself, but because it means I won't have to spend time obsessing over the initial map. That relief alone makes it the highlight for me!

So many things!!!!!

1. Picking your map from the start
2. Being able to transform literally everything
3. Being able to move your house and the villagers houses (I have a feeling I will move things around a LOT)
4. The museum looks amazing (I used to spend a lot of time in my museum watching the fish but this one is so beautiful it puts the ones in the other games to shame)
5. Being able to place furniture outdoors
6. QR codes and being able to customize everything
7. The mini islands, I like the idea of being able to go to another island to get more supplies and meet different animals.
8. I like how decorating the house is like HHD, so much easier!!

I could go on and on so I guess I should just say everything is my favorite lol

I feel like they really listened to what people wanted with this game. I know not everyone will be happy, and they can't please everyone, but I do feel they took the major things people wanted and made it work in a cool way. I cannot wait for this game, I was excited for it before, but now...I can't even express my excitement for this!

Seeing the low-key confirmation of the character increase for naming our towns. "Nintenland"? Looks like we're potentially getting at least ten to work with!

I'm sorry, but where did you see this? I've only seen "Ninten" and all the other shown island names haven't been longer then six letters.

Yeah, I only saw ninten as well!
I'll watch it again.

1) Terraforming is easily the biggest. Maps and the desire for a "perfect" one is ultimately what caused me to abandon New Leaf. The ability to change things means I don't have to restart constantly and I can tweak things to my liking.
2) The museum is freaking gorgeous and it makes me actually want to visit.
3) QR codes from New Leaf. I hope we can use them to place paths in New Horizons because I have QR codes from NL with gorgeous paths that I would love to use in NH.
4) Having the ability to place down empty plots for villager homes. Hopefully if we have multiple empty plots and a villager is moving in we can pick which plot they go to.
5) When place down a house, it shows the exact footprint it will take up. Thank the lord. New Leaf needed this so badly.

Terraforming has to be the most exciting development. Peoples islands are going to have so much variety with this feature. I'm planning on my home surrounded by a moat or cliffs to deter invaders:)

However, the most impressive feature for me was the beautiful museum. You will be so much closer to the exhibits/collected creatures.

And that scorpion and tarantula, on the Switch, bigger and bolder. Yikes!

Thank you! I went and checked out the same timestamp on the Japanese version of the direct and the town's name on the map was Ninten with a single character of kana/kanji (presumably "land" or something similar) added at the end. So, I'm not sure the "land" part isn't just an automatically added suffix and therefore doesn't count to the character limit. :(

So many amazing points from the Direct! I cannot wait for this game!

~ Terraforming
~ Crafting/Customisation
~ Outdoor furniture
~ Paths and different bridges!
~ Keeping QR Codes
~ Villager plotting and reallocation
~ Tours
~ Museum is beautiful
~ Some of the clothes in the direct were amazing!
~ Data transfer from PC and the new app.

I feel like they have really looked at what people have been doing in NL and taken it on board.

One of the little town pieces they showed on the direct actually made me cry, it was so pretty!

Name limit. Not sure if terraforming was shown earlier, but if so, then terraforming is my favourite. Villager plot setting is useful, though... Furniture outside looks good...

The museum was beautiful

I lost my mind at terraforming

Was happy to see you can pick out your spots for future villagers

I ended up watching the Direct late as it was airing at 1am here so I viewed it as soon as I woke up.

As I said in a previous post, everything looks great so far to me and how I initially expected things to pan out.

If I were to say anything negative it?d be that the islands you travel to for gathering additional supplies along with other things look fairly bland. At least not as memorable as Tortimer Island. Maybe that could change though.

It would have been funny to see Mr. Resetti pop up right at the end of the Direct randomly, but...:(

Maybe another drawback for me are the holiday character updates. People have said it?s to prevent TT but the one thing that isn?t really a concern but something to maybe keep note of that I thought about:

If they?re only going to be including holiday characters in updates, it means that eventually once the game becomes unsupported...we may be left with no holidays at all? Could be totally wrong, but yeah. Or, if you were late to the party years down the line in playing the game and updates are no longer supported, you?ll just be stuck with the base game?

Don?t really know for sure how?s it going to work but maybe eventually they?ll start shipping out carriages with the updates already installed somewhere down the line. But it will probably be supported for years to come and we?ll all be playing the next animal crossing game when switch support ends.

The quick-save outfits is a nice touch, terraforming and the MUSEUM. OMG. That museum is beautiful!!!!

Mine has to be the fact that you can transform the terrain! I'm gonna have so many waterfalls in my island!

Terraforming, the return of QR Designs, and that Museum! This game is seriously gorgeous, and I cannot wait for it!
