What's the last movie you've seen?

Watched two films today.

Desert Hearts was pretty good. A bit slow-paced, but I enjoyed it.

It's been on my watch list for awhile, but I finally got around to But I'm a Cheerleader. I can see why in the year 2000 it was more offensive than helpful, and I agree with many of the criticisms levied against the film, but I can also see why it has such a cult following today. The acting is really good, the set design and cinematography are great, and the satire is actually pretty poignant. I actually went into the film with low expectations, but I rather loved it. Its funny moments were hilarious, and its sadder moments were absolutely heartbreaking.

I don't watch movies very often, but I think the last movie I saw was My Neighbor Totoro. I rewatched it not too long ago!

I saw the Barbie movie this past weekend, it was fun for sure and with a great message. I'm usually the last to see any new movies but the hype around this was pretty infectious~

Don’t think I’ve actually watched a movie at home recently - think the last thing I saw was the Super Mario one at the cinema, first time I’d been there for ages but enjoyed the film

I think it was 13 Going on 30 or Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? I can't remember because I was watching movie after movie on a plane.
13 Going on 30 was a re-watch and is one of my guilty pleasures. And it was my first time watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. I enjoyed it and will probably see the sequel at some point.

I finally got around to watching the Super Mario Bros. Movie.I'm a fan of movies based on video games and this was a lot of fun to watch.I like that they threw in a lot of different characters from the various Mario games. It's weird but I kind of got freaked out when I saw Mario without his hat.I don't think I'd ever seen his hair before.

BARBIE! My partner dressed up with me to watch it and I had SO much fun :')

I wanted to watch something space related at some point during the course of Camp Bell Tree, but the various tasks, and general life aside, didn't permit me the time throughout the course of event. As such, I had to wait until yesterday evening to watch something to coincide with the end of Camp Bell Tree.

I decided to check out director Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. I had never seen it before despite knowing about some of it via cultural osmosis, such as the HAL-9000. Now having watched it, I thought it was great. It was pretty slow going for a while, but once it started to get where it was going it ended up pretty neat. It was quite the visual spectacle throughout, especially for its time, and the last segment was wild. I'm glad I finally watched it, it was cool.

i haven't seen any movies since i saw the barbie movie in theatres and it was fantastic! it really lived up to the hype and was so fun to watch! i kinda regret not going all out and dressing up to go see it but i ended up realizing i don't own a lot of pink items in my wardrobe that i'd like to wear outside of the house. that's got me feeling like i've failed you barbie............naur

This weekend I've watched the following:

- Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Amongst Thieves
- She Said

I really enjoyed both, D&D was just funny and a joy to watch as it was something other than a superhero film and She Said was really powerful and a stark reminder how much damage Harvey Weinstein inflicted on so many women who just wanted to work in Hollywood.

Having finished the book, I watched two adaptations of Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped.

One was a 45-minute animated adaptation from 1986, which I imagine would have been used as a teaching aid or companion piece to the novel, but it was quite bad. Forgiving the animation quality and voice acting (which are both dreadful, but it was obviously a low budget production, so expectations need to be tailored to that), the abridged but otherwise loyal adaptation tends to accidentally obscure character motivations while also tries to expand upon some characters that are more-or-less one-and-done characters in the book. If this were used as a teaching aid, I feel it would confuse me more than help.

The second is the 1995 live action adaptation starring Armand Assante. At just short of three hours long, it's a bit of a spell, but I rather liked it. Acting was good, sets and costuming was good, cinematography was good, and the alterations made to the original story (mostly for pacing, some to expand upon the source) were all more or less agreeable.

Jim Hansen's Muppets adaptation when?

saw red, white and royal blue a couple of days ago. i read the book a year or so ago and only really remembered a few things/scenes, was alright

film_Asteroid-City.jpg

I watched Asteroid City yesterday.Eh......Wes Anderson has made some really great movies but this ain't one of 'em.There are bits of good Wes Anderson here but they're held together by duct tape and baling wire and this movie was a kind of a chore to sit through.I usually laugh consistently through Anderson's films but there were long stretches of no reactions from me while watching Asteroid City.Hey,maybe next time,Wes.

I watched Blue Beetle in theaters over the weekend. He's not a character I've overly familiar with but it was a fun movie. I really enjoyed his Nana and sister.

Finished watching Parasite today along with watching 10 things I hate about you and Donnie Darko!

For some reason, I've found myself binging Scooby-Doo movies.

  • Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School: Nostalgic, cute. Not the best written movie ever made or anything, but I have such a fondness for it that I can't really describe.
  • Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf: Also fine for what it is, but less so than Ghoul School
  • Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders: I thought the soundtrack of this movie to be the highest point, but everything else is pretty good too.
  • Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase: It's okay, but honestly "okay" is considerably better than you would expect based on the premise alone. It's entertaining, but not much else.
  • Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island: Fantastic film, absolutely the best in the series. Brilliant music and animation, jokes that frequently land, and a genuinely tense and suspenseful film.
  • Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost: Not as good as Zombie Island, but very, very close. I love the Hex Girls more than I really should.
