What's the point of the option to complain about villagers (the way they talk/dress) to Isabelle if she doesn't do anything? I don't get it. I've been trying to get rid of Vladamir for like 3 months now lmao and it doesn't cause villagers to leave or anything like that. Does the option maybe influence them to dress differently or talk differently? Is that what it's for?

When you complain about "the way they talk", it will reset the greeting, nickname they call you, AND catchphrase. So you might want to consider that first.

Oh this is great to know. Thanks for this info.

They have no affect in making villagers leave. Nor does locking them in/hitting them with a net/neglecting them, etc.

Best way to get rid of a villager without the use of an Amiibo is the following:

Every now and then, one of your villagers will ask to move out. If you encounter one of them asking to move out and it's not the one you want, immediately close the game without saving (don't finish the dialogue). Continue ignoring said villager the entire day. The next day, someone else will ask to move out instead (it can happen that no one asks, just wait till the next day then). Eventually (assuming the villager you want out is not the latest to join the island) the correct villager will ask to move out.

So, if say... an annoying duck that plagued one of my friends for months decided to move to my island instead without my consent. I wouldn't be able to get him to move out since he was the latest ((and most unfortunate)) addition to my island..?

I think the functionality got changed with the update. Before 2.0, complaining about clothing put the villager in their default outfit for a while, but it didn't reset their wardrobe or anything. Now, doing so puts the villager in a Nook Inc. Shirt, and it might reset their wardrobe, given how complaining about the way they speak resets their catchphrase and nicknames.

Not through this method no. Although things might have changed since the 2.0 update so I reserve the right to be wrong :p but this is how it worked back then (pre-2.0).

You can still kick them out with non-Amiibo visitors from your camp though. If you want a visiting camper on your island to move in, do the following:

1. Talk to the visiting camper once, save the game.
2. Log back in and talk to them again till they ask if you want to play a game.
3. If you win said game, you can ask them to move in
4. The villager will then go ask Resident Services for a plot and come back saying they heard X villager is thinking of moving out
5. If X villager is not the one you want moved, immediately close the game (don't finish the dialogue, just close the game as soon as you see the name of the villager).
6. Repeat steps 2-4 till the correct villager is chosen
7. Profit

My memory is rusty but I believe this is the correct way.

This story sounds shockingly familiar. The same exact thing happened to me. A duck named Miranda. I’m gonna kick her out via amiibo.

Oh cool. Thanks for this tip. The only reason I won't try this is because I'm paranoid not saving will possibly screw up my data lol, particularly and especially if done repetitively. I don't know if that's Resetti conditioning or what but yeahh I'd rather not take my chances lmao

@Azzy 😂 😂 😂

@Dantia Cool, thanks for this info.

I believe back in WW/CF there were more issues with inappropriate letters/catchphrases/patterns etc. getting around so starting in NL they added this option.

Unless if this was added in CF? Can't remember anymore...

I got Quillson TT_TT
I'm trying to get my hands on an amiibo I want or at least am willing to settle for.

There is another feature that she can do but you only can get it with the HHP update and after completing it, if you don't have the DLC she is not going to have this feature. She can undo villager home interiors if you have an issue with it. Now you don't have to worry about gifted villagers anymore since you can just talk to Isabelle and she will tell the villager to revert their interior back to their original one. This also works with the starter homes.

Yeah I don't have DLC yet. Thanks for this info tho. I do plan to get the DLC pack soon along with the Nintendo Online Membership. I'm looking forward to those N64 games. Wish they had more tho like Paper Mario and Banjo Kazooie lol
