Area 51 because I'm sharing an island with both my mom and my sister! Aliens are a good middle ground for all of that. It was between Area 51, Roswell, and Neverland. Mom didn't care so I left it up to my sister to choose between them!
So, my first-ever town in ACPG/ACGC (not sure if an agreement was ever reached re: shorthand for the GameCube version) was named Peprland, because I was and still kind of am obsessed with the Beatles, and Pepperland is where the Yellow Submarine cartoon takes place.
I kind of ruined my ACNL experience by being a total perfectionist. I got really burned out from trying to make the perfect town. I knew I wanted to experience ACNH in a more organic, “go with the flow“ fashion, and just enjoy myself. That’s what I did in my first town, I didn’t know much about the game and didn’t feel pressured.
So, Pepperland is named after Peprland, hoping that it will inspire me to view the game with fresh eyes.
NGL, it’s cool to spell the whole name properly for a change.
Calla Bryn comes from Calla Bryn Sturgis. A town in the Dark Tower book series. It's a beautiful, small little village town that seems really peaceful and wonderful to live in (well, except for the fact that once a generation a hoard of robotic wolfmen on horseback ride into town and steal one of every two siblings only to return them lobotomized) and at any rate I just always loved the name and thought it was pretty and cool sounding.
"Coleoptrea" I wish I had put a bit more thought into it because I kinda don't like it now. It's supposed to be like coleoptera (I like beetles) but as a country hence the -rea ending
My island is named Beauvoir. It means beautiful view/to see in French. I used a variant on the literal translation, which would be “Bellevue” (however there’s a rather rough real life place I know of with that name, so I didn’t want to be reminded of that). And my name, Odette, is also French, so I think Beauvoir goes nicely with that.
Deilf Isle is Irish for 'dolphin'. I wanted some sort of aquatic name, since it's an island, and dolphins are both one of my favorite creatures and my patronus. I'm also Irish.
Actually, Irish won out because the versions in the languages of my background were too long.
honeywell, i couldnt think of a good island name so my sister and i looked for inspiration in music that we like and she found honeywell which is a band and it sounds pretty good for an island name imo. it also fits because my airport colour is yellow and we have oranges
i had multiple names i wanted to use, but i presented the options to my sisters (thought that they would make a character but then never did smh) and both of them chose wayward. i was a bit sad at the time, but since my island's creation i havent felt the need to reset once when in acnl i did all the time because of the town name i chose.
My very first gamecube town name was sunny. I was tempted to be nostalgic and name it that in dedication to it..
but I went with Area 51. Same as my NL town, because.. I like aliens. And the names kinda funny. Imaging area 51 is hiding an alternate reality with talking animals, lol..
THEN I reset. And I decided to leave area 51 to new leaf, and I opted for “Bouquette” a spin on bouquet, because I am obsessed with flowers and perfume IRL and honestly, it just sounded pretty.
My original GCN town's name was Scotland. I can't remember exactly why I named it that, but I've been naming (almost) all of my AC towns Scotland as tradition since.
Mine is Domum. I'm pretty terrible at names, and I was just messing around with different nouns and adjectives in different languages. Domum means home in Latin. I feel like animal crossing is a home and safe haven for me and many other players, so it felt fitting to call my island "home".
