For me, it was in 2012 when me and my sisters were shown a trailer for AC:NL. This was our first time ever seeing the series, even though we had owned a GCN, DS, and Wii but never owned any other previous Animal Crossing game. They all said the game looked interesting, except me. At the time I thought it looked boring. But 2 years later one of my sisters sat me down and forced me to play. It was actually fun and I still play my copy to this day
I can't remember the exact year it was, but my mom bought my younger brothers City Folk for their birthday on a whim. She had no idea what Animal Crossing was- neither did we- but it looked cute. After playing it for only a few weeks, we were addicted.
We ended up getting a lot more about Animal Crossing after that.
2005 or 2006 was when I started playing. I played with my old best friend and after awhile I kinda lost interest until I saw that New Leaf was coming out for the 3ds back in 2012 and I got really excited about it and once I got the game, I fell in love with it again.
for me, it was over the summer when I first got pocket camp. Then, nearing the end of the summer, I got WW. Then, I wanted even more from AC, so I saved up and bought New Leaf and a 2ds.
I was introduced to Animal Crossing for the GameCube shortly after it was released in the US. I was around 20 years old or so and had just moved into my own apartment, but I still came home to visit my family one a week and do laundry. My brother had a GameCube and told me there was this game that I had to play. All he had to say was "talking animals" and I was on board.
I would play every Saturday night while visiting my family and my mom, my brother and I would all gather in my brother's room to listen to K.K. perform. I never had my own GameCube, so when my brother eventually sold his GameCube my town was lost.
I didn't play another Animal Crossing game until New Leaf, which I started in October 2017. My husband was watching Chuggaconroy's Let's Play of New Leaf and it made me feel really nostalgic for the game. I bought it and I've been playing every day since.
I got my first Nintendo together with Animal Crossing New Leaf on my birthday in 2014. Have played ever since and bought all the games except for the Game Cube version :') Last year I got my mom to play with me and now we're both addicted haha
im not gonna lie im rly embarrassed about this story but i first came across animal crossing in the moshi monster rp forums when ppl wanted to do animal crossing rps. and i kept seeing those threads pop up and i was like "what makes animal crossing so popular" so i googled it and got city folk right away.
Around 2006 with WW as well! I remember my middle school friend let me play on her DS during lunch break sometimes and I instantly got hooked and asked mum to get me one for my upcoming 12th birthday.
Glad to see there's so many others like me here, I almost always feel old when I talk to people on other forums about AC lol.
i'd watch my friend play ac on his gamecube. I remember he had the ancient e-reader cards and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I was maaaybe around 6 or 7? Can't believe that was already 16 years ago wow
I was first introduced to the series in about 2016. My very first game was Wild World! I took a break from it then started playing it again! Then, in 2019, I discovered New Leaf! I played New Leaf for about 6 months, but then I got tired of it. I learned of New Horizons in April 2019 from this wonderful forum!
