I think 2010? I jumped around a bunch with the games. First played City Folk when I found it on sale in GameStop. Fell in love. Then played Wild World and City Folk together for a year or two. Got New Leaf and played that for at least 5 years. Went back to both City Folk and Wild World. Played Pocket Camp for a couple months. And now I'm waiting for New Horizons!
(Also I REALLY want to play the GameCube version but haven't gotten around to it yet.)
My friend in high school tried to let me play Wild World (I think?) but I didn’t get the point since she just told me to pick lots of fruit. It wasn’t till pocket camp that I got into the series but not heavily invested. Then when new horizons came out, that’s when I committed to picking up the game.
I was first introduced to the series when I was a little kid, but I never actually got to play any of the games until I was about 20! I used to just enjoy my neighbors playing the games while I watched, and then once I got older and finally got a hold of one of the games myself, I just knew I would instantly be obsessed.
I mean, how can it not be, you know? I’ve always loved life simulation games since I was young, especially The Sims, and so I love how Animal Crossing is super similar but just a lot less chaotic.
I was introduced to the series when a friend of mine had the original game for her Game Cube! I had watched her play and it seemed like so much fun. I never owned a game cube, so I had to wait until Wild World came out and I purchased a DS to play it on. I still have my Wild World cartridge too :')
Must have been 2005 I think, I got a secondhand GameCube in 2004 and one of the games I ended up with was animal crossing, I think it was one of the later games I got as I had to wait and see what my mum and dad got me second hand from carboot sales
My memory is quite vague about when I was introduced to the series. I would say I found it interesting when my sister got Animal Crossing New Leaf in 2013 and I saw her playing it then her bf, now husband and my brother-in-law, got a copy and I got my own copy and 3DS XL later
I got City Folk as one of my Christmas gifts. My parents know that I love Nintendo and animals-they see both at once, they buy it. Funny thing is I didn’t touch until a week later after watching my big sister play it. My family hasn’t looked back since.
