both me and my friend's right joycons drift down, so I was wondering if one may be more common than the other

On my original pair of joycons, both of mine drifted pretty badly, but the right one was a lot worse.

I have 3 left and 3 right joycons that are allllllll drifting. :) I am not happy with Nintendo.

I'll be sending them in for repair in the next couple of weeks. I have one good pair left. Some of the drifting ones are less than a year old. I'm not tough on them at all. My hands are tiny and I only have casual game or turn based RPGs on my switch.

I got a referb and the left joycon drifted BADLY, but it drifted vertically instead of horizontally, which I thought was weird
but gamestop replaced it and I haven't had any issues some WD-40 couldn't fix with this one lol

and my right one has never drifted

Both of my original ones drifted but my left one was significantly worse haha and mine mostly pushed me up

had both of them sent out to Nintendo and they haven’t started drifting yet and it’s been around a year

My left one (blue original joy on) was drifting prettty bad when the diving update first released, but for some reason I don’t have that problem anymore. I didn’t try to fix it or anything, seems like it just fixed itself. If it ever happens again, I’d probably end up sending it in to Nintendo.

My left one, and it didn't start until I got AC, thanks game.

It also drifts upward, and its gotten more extreme as time passes. I just use a GameCube controller my brother gave me until I can get new ones or get them fixed.

Its usually the right for me but now I think theres just something wrong with my switch because sometimes while I'm playing it'll just say that one of the controllers are disconnected
And I've been through joycons and it's always the same. :/
It gets really frustrating esp during an online game like Overwatch for example
Anyways you should def get insurance on it. Mines is like 10 bucks everytime instead of the 60+

Left joycon. In NH you don't really use the right joycon all that much, I mean you can't really turn the camera all that often. I got my joycons right back when the switch first launched and it only started drifting about 4 months back, definitely got more lucky with my joycon drift than a lot of others, I suppose 😅

I definitely recommend using a pro controller instead of joycons, if you can afford the cost.

My right Joy-Con (red, if it matters) I had to send to Nintendo for repairs because the drifting was HORRIBLE when I tried to play Splatoon 2 especially. It was like a constant fight against the camera, but it also affected other games to smaller degrees. After the repair process, the Joy-Con they gave back (probably a refurbished one rather than my original, but idk) has worked totally fine, and it's been about 9-ish months? But I live in fear of the drifting starting up again, 'cause I'm sure it will at some point.

None of my joycons drift, simply because I don't use them 😂 I use my Pro Controllers more and the two that I've owned and replaced have had the left joystick drift, probably due to lots of hours on Splatoon and Fortnite (yikes).

Both, but I got the right one replaced so now it's just the left, and its really bad. I'll definitely need to send this one in too

I don't have Joycon drift yet. And believe me, I know what that is even without experiencing it. My Vita had drift with the analog sticks until I replaced them. Not sure if it's because I'm lucky or my Switch is just too new. I just got my Switch back in March.

currently on my 3rd pair but it seems like the left joycon tends to go quicker...especially when i played a lot of splatoon and smash bros.
and given the price of these things you would think they wouldn't break down so quickly for so many people.

i honestly just use a pro controller when possible, it feels a lot more sturdy than the joycons at the very least

Thankfully, none of them yet. Not looking forward to the day I finally start to notice that happening.

I recently sent mine in to get repaired and they are fixed now, but first my Right Joycon started drifting to the right, and then a couple days later my Left Joycon started drifting up.

It's probably due to your Switch still being pretty new. It also depends on how much you use your Joycons. Mine took about two years before they both started to drift. I didn't use them much at all until Animal Crossing came out. As I mostly played on the tv with a pro controller. Now I play a lot of games such as AC in handheld mode instead.
