Who were your first 10 villagers?

I don't exactly know who my first 10 were because I actually didn't buy all 10 villager houses for a while. When I was just starting out I left my island and 8 villagers/9 villagers for a bit and didn't get my 10th villager house until I'd already had the game for 6 months.

I do know who my first 8 villagers were though!

My current island has a lot of males. I've made it a self-imposed rule to use only 10 NMT for island hopping, a reason why I have so many smugs and jocks. I really wish this wasn't the case since I have no crankies! Its been difficult for Pinky and Alli to give me their photos. Both Mira and Carrie left before their friendships were high enough for photos. Mira was replaced with Sterling and Phil was replaced with Blanche. As soon as I got my ninth villager (Cephalobot) Carrie wanted to leave, opening it for Alli, making Carrie the first villager to leave my island. I don't remember the previous island very well other than I hated having Fuchsia and Boone for the longest time.

I know this question has been asked time and time again, but it’s been a while!

Who were your first 10 villagers? Did you like them, or did you move them all out as soon as possible? Were any of them villagers that you didn’t really like, but having them changed your opinion? Or vice versa? Do any of them still live on your island?

My first 10 villagers were Kid Cat, Tammy, Piper, Prince, Pekoe, Shep, Bertha, Julia, Octavian and Zucker! I was pretty much indifferent about all of them except for Kid Cat and Octavian prior to New Horizons, but they’re all special to me in their own ways now, and I’m really happy that I had the starting villagers that I did!

Kid Cat has always been one of my favourite cat and jock villagers, so I was really pleased to start my island with him! I’ve never minded Tammy, but I’m much more fond of her now than I used to be. I miss the days where I’d run into her wandering around the island at 5am because she accidentally pulled an all-nighter, haha. I let RNG decide who my first peppy, lazy and normal villagers would be, and I think it’s a neat coincidence that they all have names starting with the letter “P“!

Shep was the villager I was the least happy about, and I remember complaining about wanting him to move out a lot during the game’s first few months LOL, but overall he wasn’t so bad! He’s still not my favourite villager, but he’ll always hold a special place in my heart for being my first smug villager in the game. Bertha and Julia were lovely to have, with Bertha’s Birthday actually being the first Birthday that I got to celebrate in New Horizons! I ended up booting her out shortly after for Audie (sorry Bertha ), but she was a treat to have! One of the most criminally underrated villagers imo! Octavian was super fun and reminded me of nostalgic memories from having him in Wild World, and I liked having him and Zucker on my island at the same time! I think it’s cool that I had 2/3 of the octopus villagers in the game at the time in my first lineup of villagers!

My first 10 villagers have all long since moved out, though there was a time where I had been planning on keeping Kid Cat and Zucker permanently. I sometimes think about trying to find Zucker again and moving him back in, but I’m not sure if I ever actually will. Regardless, I’ll forever cherish my memories with them!

It's a bit hazy trying to remember the last three that moved in, but I think the first ten I had in 2020 were:

I added in an 11th villager due to Mallary replacing Timbra after spending a grand total of three days on my island. What's funny is that I didn't even kick Timbra out; she asked to move away literally days after moving in randomly. As I was planning on moving Mallary in next anyway, it was a pleasant coincidence.

Patty is the only random villager left on my island. Bob and Mallary are still with me also.

Despite restarting my first island, and deleting the images that go to that island, I still remember my first 10.

Sprocket and Mira I was trying to get as my first 2 villagers. Now I don’t care about having them in my island as I have Ace and Quinn instead.
Raddle, Sprinkle and Gayle were my other villagers for the tutorial, while Raddle was found as my last NMT.
Raymond was my first campsite villager. And yes, I was shocked to have him as my first campsite villager, I had to invite him in without feeling defeated.
The rest except for Cyd were autofilled. I found Cyd in a nook mile island and invited him to my island only because he was new. Little did I know is he had the singing hobby and cranky villagers singing really ticks me off, so I wanted to move him out but he never did, which caused me to restart due to agitation.

I don’t want to talk about my other islands I restarted, I was going through a jealousy phase.

• mira: starter #1, i was sort of indifferent to her on my island but was willing to let her go when she asked
• sparro: starter #2, i grew to love him i find him really cute
• egbert: literally my NUMBER ONE enemy, he would not leave no matter how much i tried
• apple: she's so crazy, i love her unhinged nature
• klaus: goodbye sir.
• maple: i love cubs and she was a breath of fresh air, a slice of normality amidst the chaos
• zucker: he's my baby!!!! he's so cute and always talking about sleeping or food which is so relatable
• drago: i got him after my friend kicked him off of his island and he filled up one of plots...

i had to go back in my screenshots to see, since i’ve forgotten like half of them—

rocket and flip were my two starters. nana, bianca, and al were my first 3 NMT islanders. beardo was my campsite villager. and blanche, willow, ava, and monty were all my other random move ins. so those were my first 10!

my current line up is cranston, raymond, dobie, rudy, beau, lolly, poppy, bunnie, whitney, and deirdre. how things change in time!

My first ten villagers were (the order might be a bit off):

1. Fuchsia - she was okay. I think I appreciate her more now than I did before. Her design isn’t one of my favorites either.
2. Rudy - I still have him (not the same one since I temporarily booted him out when I messed up his house after I gave him a viking helmet). He is one of my favorites now . At the time, I wasn’t sure of him because I never liked jock villagers. In NL I had Hamlet and I didn’t like the muscle talk. But, he grew on me right away; the fact that he’s a cat helped a little . I think he has the cutest expressions. When he got mad at Rosie, one of my other villagers one time, he was holding an umbrella and he looked so cute twirling his umbrella and stomping.
3. Alfonse - I did not like him and still don’t like him or his design; to be honest, I didn’t give him a chance at all.
4. Tipper - same as with Alfonse. I used an amiibo card to kick her out.
5. Lily - when I found her island hopping, I thought she was kinda cute and that she’d only be temporary, but she grew on me; now she’s one of my favorite frog villagers. I did end up letting her leave (it was a tough decision).
6. Sprinkles - Of the penguins, Sprinkles design is one of my favorites. I liked her, but having another peppy made me sick of the peppy talk fast (ofc, later on i had two peppies at the same time again lol). I didn’t like her as much as I probably would have in Nl.
7. Bluebear - I had her at the same time as Sprinkles. I think I’d have liked her more had I not had them both at the same time or had I got her in NL. I still think she is cute though!
8. Merry - she has been one of my favorites since NL. I still have her! I’m still not as much of a fan of the peppy dialogue as I was in NL, but it didn’t stop me from having more peppy villagers. I just realized recently that Spanky kinda looks like her since she looks like she has a little hair cut , so it made me love Merry more than I already do.
9. Punchy - I used an amiibo card to invite him, which I regret since it is more fun to find them island hunting, through a campsite or as a random move in. He’s here to stay though! He was my starter in NL and I still love him; I just hate the bug talk . His facial expressions are so cute .
10. Kiki - I think I used her amiibo card to kick out Tipper or Alfonse (not 100% sure). She became my favorite after I traded for her back in NL. She still is and she is another permanent resident! I love black cats so much; one of my late kitties was a black cat .

My first ten were Louie and Shari (my starters), Marcel, Midge, Agent S, Keaton, Rizzo, Tia, Claudia, and Hornsby. Agent S was always one of my favorites, and I also like Hornsby, Tia, and Midge a lot. Keaton was one that I didn't care for at first, but he grew on me.

Louie and Agent S are the only two that are still around. Agent S because she's one of my favorites, and Louie just because I like to keep one of my starters around (and I liked him better than Shari).

Midge actually moved out in 2021, then returned in 2023, and then left again this year.

I'm not 100% sure that this is an accurate list of my 1st 10 villagers but based on the screenshots I have in my switch gallery it's:

I have a second island now too but it's still new so I only have 5 villagers. They are:

I've already decided that Maddie is never leaving but not sure about the others. Excited to see whom other 5 villagers will be.

1. Diva - I like frogs, but by frogs, I mean Tad and Emerald. Diva's ok, but really a nothing villager. Still trying to get rid of her...
2. Rudy - Fan of Jock villagers here, and Rudy's cool. I like seeing him run around, but I wish he wasn't a starter, because his regular interior looks so cute compared to what starters have(DIY/wood), and it doesn't justify buying DLC (it's pretty hard to).
3. Skye - Big fan of Skye, first one I got rid of... because Elmer was at the campsite, and I didn't know about/strongly dislike resetting. Either way, I like Elmer a whole lot because of AC, but I miss Skye... but I got over it.
4. Tutu - I very much dislike the Peppy villagers, and I know which one I'll get to replace her, but can't it happen faster? Ugh.
5. Broccolo - The first one I have a positive opinion on! Lazy villagers are ok, they're a bit messy but eh, and "beat it" Broccolo is silly eno- why does he have hair? Why?
6. Chadder - I'll keep this to 10 words. No hair, thank god.
7. Caroline - The red and yellow on a squirrel was cute enough to justify keeping her over Aurora. But now that I have a second squirrel, I'm not sure what to do here...
8. Freya - We love Freya around here. Out of all the Snotty villagers, I'm glad I gave up years ago when I first played (gave up on my island like a month in, right before the campsite, came back 3 years later.), because I would've chosen a different popular one. But we love Freya, and the cool wolf design helps me to forget about Skye.
9. Aurora - Bland, bland, bland. I don't miss her... nostalgia, but she was much better in AC. I'm being dead serious about that, too. She moved out, and I got ready to go island hunting, but I found Marshal and figured someone else might want him, so that spot's full... Anyways. She's bland. And gone.
10. Gruff - Wasn't too hot about Gruff at first- he randomly moved in between island hunting days, so I couldn't find who I wanted(8), but we love Crankies around here. Billy's my favorite Goat, but Gruff makes a dang good case for himself.

Not the most in-detail on each one, but general opinions of each! If you wanna hear more, then you can't, because I'm tired. Typing with a blindfold is hard.

I had to go back into my villager posters in the nook machine to refresh my memory for some of them.

My initial compulsory villagers were:

• Flo (Starting Uchi)
• Samson (Starting Jock)
• Filbert (Initial Plot Lazy)
• Anabelle (Initial Plot Peppy)
• Flurry (Initial Plot Normal)
• Huck (Campsite Smug)

Then, I bought more plots and had a mixture of autofills + laid-back island hopping, if I recall correctly.

• Fang (Island Hopping)
• Tasha (Autofill)
• Marlo (Island Hopping)

So I had one of each personality + an additional normal villager and cranky villager.

I haven't retained any of these villagers but I liked all of them except Samson and Huck. I wanted to have Anabelle and Ellie for years, even before New Horizons, so being able to be a bit more laid-back with villager choices was nice and allowed to be a bit more experimental.

Anabelle was the last to leave, which was only last week...I believe? She's such a sweetheart.

1. Diva (starting sisterly) - She is by far not the cutest frog by my standards, but she is OK and I don't have a major issue with her. She is likeable in her own way, I am still hoping she asks to move however as I prefer Pashmina to her.

2. Billy (starting jock) - Not my favorite. I didn't hate him, but I was glad when he asked to move.

3. Jeremiah (nmt find) - Cute lazy. Might eventually get another one but I like him for the time being.

4. Goldie (nmt find) - Precious doggo. One of the best dogs no doubt

5. Rosie (nmt find) - I was so happy to see her. I like many of the cats, but she is a real cutie

6. Tex (smug camper) - Neutral toward him. He's not someone I plan to keep indefinitely.

7. Ione (nmt find) - Such a good design. I found her and thought she was amazing!

8. Shino (nmt find) - I wasn't planning to take a 2nd peppy, but I really love Shino's design. A+ character! She is staying on my island

9. Azalea (nmt find) - There's other snooty villagers I like more, but she is pretty cute and good for now. I was tired of looking via nmt so I decided to take her that day.

10. Pashmina (nmt find) - Great sisterly. I love her!

I believe that is the order they came, but I might be wrong. Billy left and I traded him out for Chief. I'm hoping either Tex or Diva leaves next, but I don't hate either.

my starters were Flo (who i still have!!) and Billy, who i liked because he gave me a cute hat but then hated because of his personality lol

my first ever mystery island villager (on my very first island) was Merengue!!!!! i've had her ever since and i love her so much, even though her house is a bit ugly since she has one of the first five houses ;p
i also got Ozzie (who i still have and have stolen two bits of furniture from because i love the house he got, but don't actually like that much) who i met on a mystery island but didn't invite, and then auto-filled into the plot anyways lol
and Victoria, who i did invite from a mystery island but over time found a bit annoying (she was the first horse i saw and after accidentally restarting my island a few minutes after starting the game up for the first time, i was mourning Reneigh, who would have been my starting sisterly had i not accidentally restarted)

my first campsite villager was Graham and i hated him so much !!!!!!!!!!! lol it became my mission to get him off my island as soon as possible because i found him creepy and he had a crush on me (sobbing rn) !!

from what i remember, i then got Gruff, who i actually did really love, despite him not being on my island anymore, Marcie, who is very sweet and i still have, Savannah, who i liked but wasn't super interesting (and has since moved out), and Marshal, who i actually wasn't that interested in at first but i now find very sweet :3 i think that in the midst of all this i actually got rid of Graham and i think my tenth villager (the first time i had filled all the slots) was Opal!! who i love dearly and was so excited to find on a mystery island

I take a lot of screenshots, so I should have my first 10 in there! Time for a trip down memory lane...
My first 10 were Hamlet, Diva, Celia, Piper, Egbert, Peewee, Beardo, Timbra, Carmen, and Eunice.
Out of all of them, the only one I still have is Timbra, interestingly. I'd forgotten she's been around so long, and I'd been considering letting her go recently.
My starters were Hamlet and Diva.
I kept Hamlet around for a long time. It's really funny to have a Jock type that's a small round hamster. He left eventually, can't remember why, but I currently have no Jock villager. Kinda miss him, tbh.
Didn't really like Diva's design much from the start. She moved out after a while.
Celia was the first one I invited from a random island. She was sweet, but I had to let her go because I just kept getting more cute normal personalities on the island and I needed some variety.
Piper moved in, I think automatically. She's my birthday twin! She stayed around a long time, but I eventually let her be replaced.
Egbert was my first Lazy. Silly boy, but I prefer Sherb, who I got later.
Peewee...yeah, I tried to replace him as soon as possible. Sorry, dude, I'm not a fan of the gorillas.
Beardo was ok, but I wasn't a fan.
Timbra looks like a pinecone! I like that, and I like the sheep villagers. I'm not super attached to her, though, even though she's been here so long.
Carmen is pretty cute, but didn't fit the aesthetic of my island very well.
Eunice was around a while, but got out-competed by other normals eventually, like Celia did.
