Why are they your dream villager(s)?

The title is pretty self-explanatory. Are you dreamies dream villagers because of appreance, personality, animal species or because they were in your previous game?

I chose my dreamies based off their personality and passed experiences. For example, Truffles was in my City Folk town and I lost my game, and I missed her. When she returned in New Leaf, I tried to find her. I did.

Now, for others like Phoebe and Eugene who are new to New Leaf, I based it off the fact that they're uchi and smug. I didn't look for Phoebe, she moved in. I loved her. Eugene, I met in another town and couldn't believe how cool he looked and how cool he actually was. So that's why they're on my list. I have them both.

For others like Peanut, Maple, Carmen, and Hamlet, that's all on personality too. Maple and Peanut are the cutest villagers and I am keeping them because they're normal and peppy villagers that I love. Hamlet is a cute jock, and the only hamster that didn't look scary or ugly. Carmen is a snooty. I have Tipper, but I didn't want a cow so much.. When I found out there were rabbits, seeing as I took care of one in the past, I really wanted to have one in my town. Carmen was not as popular as others like Chrissy, Coco, Francine, Genji, etc. I picked her because I wanted to have that experience.

Sorry if this was a little long.. I literally copied and pasted this in an argument to use it in terms of dreamies, but I reread what they said and this wasn't the most valid answer. So I'm using this here.

I decided based on their appearance (which colour they are) and personality. I have a themed town (sky themed) and I only want villagers that match my theme.
I have all blue villagers, with the exception of Pietro, who is the "rainbow", and Tia who is white and blue. I was going to have a mix of all white and blue villagers, but it didn't work out that way. ^^;

I go for personality regardless of looks. 'Nuff said. Even if they were from previous games, I like 'em for the same reason to this day.

I have several reasons as to why I like my villagers; some are based on appearance or personality, but I think most of mine are because they were villagers in my previous games.

Lobo: he was the first villager I ever saw in-game back in WW.
Tia: I couldn't resist a teapot-themed villager.
Roscoe: I saw his sprite in someones sig and absolutely adored his design.

Most of my villagers are hippos because they are my favorite animals in the game and in real life.

Rocco - He has been my favorite villager since 2005. Love him to pieces.
Bertha, Harry, and Biff - They are adorable hippos. Enough said.
Bubbles - She is a hippo but also there is something about her that puts me in a good mood.
Drago - I love the way he looks.
Charlise - I wanted an uchi villager and I thought she was the best looking.
Violet - She has always interested me but I had never actually seen her in game until now.
LOVE her color scheme, lipstick, eyes...everything pretty much. I can't get enough of her.
Eugene - As soon as I saw him on the Japanese villager list I knew I had to have him.
I've always had a thing for the whole teddy boy greaser 1950's thing.
Also, Psychobilly and Rockabilly is pretty much all I listen to. So he is perfect.

I like to have at least one of every personality.

I agree, I quite often see people say stuff like 'oh I love Marshal because he's got such a sweet personality' .. Um, so does Phil, and Henry, and all the other smugs! xD

My dreamies are all dreamies for different reasons.

Knox, Sterling, and Vic are my dreamies because they're armored animals that fit with the sort of historical theme I want for my town. I also love Knox because I can't take him seriously as a chicken.

Static is my dreamie because he is my favorite color combination ever, and has a cranky personality to match (I actually love cranky villagers).

Lucky is my dreamie because of his unique appearance and the fact that he also goes with the story of my town.

Wolfgang is my dreamie for nostalgia purposes, so I may let him go later down the line. It really depends.

Julian is my dreamie because he's a unicorn with my favorite of the new personality types. Also I just love AC's horse design.

I love Alfonso because he's been my BFF in almost all my AC games. I turned on my Wild World copy just for fun after having New Leaf for a couple weeks and the first thing Alfonso said when he saw me was that he missed me and he started crying. It made me sad and I knew I needed him for my New Leaf town even though I already have 2 other lazies -.-

I really like Sly because the Alligators are sort of my favorite species, I wish they kept some of the older ones, like Liz, and had more of them. But Sly's design is really cool to me and I love the jock personality so I would love to have him in my town!

Sprinkle. I've always loved penguins but hadn't been too impressed with the penguin villagers in past games. Then came New Leaf and I saw this adorable white-and-blue penguin named Sprinkle and immediately knew I had to have her in my town. I'm really hoping I can get her someday. A friend has her in her town and never intends to let her move out. ;_;

I always wondered about this. xD
I'd understand if it was combination of looks and personality, but I don't get it when someone says just personality.

I don't really have 'dreamies', nor do I plan to ever actively go after any particular villagers, but I know there are some I'd like to have and would try to hold onto. xD Mostly because I had them in past games (Tangy, Aurora, Whitney). Although looks have a lot to do with it, because I liked them in the original game probably because of looks, and that's probably why I remember having them at all.

He was in my Wild World, and I wasn't really "hoping" for him, but once I saw he moved in I was so happy! He's my favorite villager, point blank. He has a Lazy personality, and I agree with almost everything he says about sleep and food. <3 Plus he's so freaking cute!

I really wanted Kiki because she used to be my favorite villager ever and now.. she's not. LOL, she isn't as cute as I remembered.

Elvis is my biggest dream at New Leaf because I used to have him in Wild World. He was the first villager who gave me a photo, but I let him move away by accident (this was my first time playing animal crossing ;_; ) , I cryied hard cuz it. Want him so badly again, so this time I can properly take care of him !!

I don't think I have real reasons for my others dreamies... I just like the way they look ; v ;

Kid Cat - He was my friend in previous games, and was my starting villager in NL, so I decided he's never leaving!
Rudy - He's super cute, he looks like a little clown and I think that's cute on a cat, his little red nose! AW.
Merry - She is so adorable, and my favorite AC character ever. She is the cutest thing ever and I LOVE her. I saw her in hide-and-seek before and almost died becuase of cuteness.
Punchy - He looks like my cat in real life, and has the lazy personality... Just like my real one haha
Zell - SO CUTE! I love black and white villagers. He was the first deer villager I fell in love with.
Beau - He's really adorable, and I love his colors and his house.
Papi - He came into my caf? a while ago and I fell in love. He's one of the only horses I like.
Maple - She's super cute, and I saw her in a friend's village and fell in love. SOOOO KAWAII *-*
Molly - I love ducks. I went on holiday to Cornwall not long ago and fell in love with all the ducks there. They woke me up every morning on holiday and I fed them, and the whole family surrounded me and sat with me. I wanted Molly when I saw her because she looked like them, the same color and all.

Marshal - I'm his #1 fan and ever since I saw him in my friends town, I died. Cuteness kills.

The others: One is a freakin' unicorn, flamingo, mummy (or bandaged dog) and the others are just plain adorable.

Anabelle, Dotty, and Wendy are all so cute ;___; and I don't like Frita but I like sheep, so Wendy would be awesome to have once Frita's gone. Dotty is my favorite out of the three, though. Anabelle I like just because she's cute and peppy.
Jacques: I'm a huge fan of Jontron, and it would be awesome to have a BIRD named JACQUES who's SMUG in my town.
Marina and Sydney: I want both because I really like Normal villagers. I like Kiki, but her house spot is good and I'd want someone else to live in her place. I like the octopi characters but Marina is my favorite. Koalas are the bomb diggity and Sydney's adorable.
