Why did I randomly get seashells?

So I just randomly got 10 seashells (currency) for seemingly no reason. Don't get me wrong, I am basically ecstatic because that's enough for a username change. I'm just confused why it happened and if anyone else got it? Thanks!

read the bell tree direct. they explain how users who have been on the forums for 2 years or more get free seashells

mods announced in the latest direct that they'd give seashells to users when they reach the 2 year milestone alongside new users, as sometimes users want to change stuff but can't as they can't afford it

You need to make a new thread in Contact the Staff where an admin will manually change it for you. This can take a while to be done.

@To others who haven't received seashells yet: the system will take a while to deliver them all there are a LOT of users to go through!

Since there's nothing I want from the Seaside Shack, I should keep all of mine and name my seashells just like how I named my apples. But you don't get to see them.

Nope. Seashells cannot be given to other users and can only be used to buy non-tradeable items.

If you've ever seen anyone with a gif as their avatar (like LambdaDelta's in this very thread), that's what it is. So if you find a gif that you would want to use that fits the site's size limitation, you could use it if you buy the avatar animation add-on.
