Why do most people seem to dislike jocks?

I have Jitters and Goose and they're my bros. I think they're hilarious and I don't mind having 2 of them.

Yea but most of them are so obviously not buff. How can you not find it funny to hear someone like Hamlet go on about his guns?

I like jocks, and my mayor's best friend Sparro happens to be one. He may go on and on about squats and oats, but he has also made more PWP suggestions than anyone else in my town. I also think it's comedy gold when they talk about their "fabs"- "fabulous abs."

I presume it's like what Officer Berri said where as most people see jocks in real life as jerks. I thought I wouldn't care for the jocks in the game but it's like the other personalities, it depends on the character. Like I didn't think I'd like Kevin but I have come to absolutely adore him and I think he's so hilarious. Some of the others I didn't care for like Pecks but I want to get Snake in my town who happens to be a jock.

Jocks are really fun to talk to. Even if they talk about working out alot. Alot of the time its cute cause they always overestimate their strength. It's even funnier when their tiny like Hamlet or one of the mice.
Jock, Lazy and cranky are the funnest to talk to for me.

My jock, Bud, is pretty cool. He says some funny stuff, and suggests BY FAR the most PWP. The trouble is all the jock PWP suck.

I love Goose, he was one of my starter characters and I won't let him leave. He's given me his picture twice, so we're pretty good buddies. And a chicken talking about his biceps? Priceless.

It's not that I particularly dislike jocks-- I like Ribbot, after all. But I'm not particularly interested in any of the PWPs they suggest, or the furniture they usually have, and they talk about working out and muscles all the time. As opposed to pretty much every other villager personality, none of which seem so.. Focused on a single thing.

To be fair, the game encourages exercise by offering furniture for Play Coins, which you get by walking around.
.. Assuming people don't cheat and just shake their 3DS around.

I love the jocks! Antonio is one of my favourite villagers and he always makes me smile when he's trying to turn everything into a game. Their voices are really cute as well.

I guarantee most people do shake it. Either that or risk street passing and get a random villager you don't want. Sure, you can just turn wireless off, but that kind of ruins the point. I mean, this is just me. *shrug*

I don't hate jocks the most, at least they're friendly and funny. Snooties contribute practically nothing.

wow i had no idea anyone hated jocks. like, i can get liking other personalities more than others but... hating them? l-lol all personalities talk about the same things over and over again, as far as i know. i have a peppy in my town right now that i talk to all the time, and she's constantly talking about being a celebrity and getting fanmail over and over again just like how jocks talk about exercise. it's equally annoying but i definitely don't hate them. i mean, i hate exercising but i don't see how that relates to a pixelated animal talking about exercising.

They're not my favorite personality type, sure, but I don't hate or even dislike them - they're just not really my cup of tea.

The in-game jocks are way better than their real life counterparts, too, in that they're not jerks (like most stereotypical ones are in real life). But, as somebody who's not really that into working out as an actual hobby, their dialogue does get kind of boring for me eventually, since muscles/working out is really all they ever talk about.

So while I get that it's their main focus - being jocks and all - it's kind of eh for people like me. I'd prefer a villager who can talk about a few different subjects in the very least, rather than just one 24/7.

This. So if you don't enjoy hearing about whatever one personality likes to talk about, that personality won't be your favourite. This is why jocks are my least favourite (stiff competition between jock and lazy to be on the bottom of the food chain). That doesn't mean that I will automatically hate every jock, though. If I like the design (or if I don't dislike it as such), I will be less annoyed with the jock. Superficial, sure, but the designs are what makes each villager different from the rest.
