Will you be resetting for the update?

I'll bulldoze certain parts of my island, especially to make room for the new veggie farm, but I won't do a fresh reset. I 100% completed my diy sets, museum, and my catalog, not to mention all the villager pics I've collected. So the thought of doing all that over again, in addition to collecting all the new stuff is...very unpleasant to me.

I've reset many times but the update is actually encouraging me to NOT reset. With so much new content to do, it's not as necessary.

I won't. It was too much work to get so many diys and catalogue items. I like where my island is at now, though sometimes I wish I could rename it.

I won’t reset. I collected all the bugs, sea creatures, and fish. I just gotta keep up with the art. I will remodel parts of my island though.

the island name is certainly the only thing that makes me constantly restart. i always end up regretting any name i choose for some reason - like every word relates to a theme and ends up becoming restrictive in my mind (‘seashell’ and it has to be ocean-based, ‘honey’ and it has to be decorated with yellow hues and bears, ‘enchanted’ and it has to be magical/fairycore-)
i definitely overthink it but it’s so stressful! i honestly just want a normal island

No. It’s way too much work to start over. Flattening is one thing, but I would never restart.

Nope, my island was never near completion and I was planning to move things around again anyway.
Also I have completed the Museum, my house and I'm almost done with the DIYs....So don't want to lose it all.

i started my island a year ago but didnt play at all so im just now unlocking everything and getting settled, i think if i restarted now id get overwhelmed again and drop the game... im just about to unlock terraforming so ill just redo my island like that :3

I won't because of nostalgia and all the work I put into my island. However I'm redoing a lot of stuff, decluttering, and also deleting some of the extra characters I made for storage purposes and house decorating purposes since they won't be needed after the update and expansion.

no, getting all the DIYs would be too much of a chore for me plus i'm attached to my villagers

Nope. I’m too attached to my current island, and there’s nothing about the update that makes me feel like I need to reset. It’s always possible to just reterraform everything and effectively start over, and I like the locations of my permanent island features, so even if I wanted to redo everything, I would probably just start from my current island base instead.

Realistically, I never delete my old towns. I’ll sometimes start new towns (though with the Switch’s one-island-per-console format, I haven’t done that here), but I always want to retain the option to revisit my existing villages.

I couldn't possibly reset when I'm just now getting the chance to do so many of the things I've wanted to do since day 1, like improve villager and player character houses, place ladders, create a functional fairground....

I restarted my island about a month ago, so probably not. I haven't even really progressed much at all, either. If anything, I'm gonna have to play catch-up, lol.

Luckily, I haven't built the orchard part of my island yet, so for all the farming I will probably build it around there. I've thought about it considering I want to change my island name and my user is set to my deadname, but I'm far too lazy to restart at this point. I probably won't be buying the other update, and I also don't want to have to work to get all my villagers back.

No cause I don't want to lose items and diys , would make it more difficult for me to decorate. The new items are exciting I can see myself making a swimming pool area with food court , a garden area using all the new garden stuff, an area with the new pillars and vines , a construction site with items like the bulldozer , a new outdoor movie area , there's so much that can be made now or even better!

Nah, I don't reset games like AC. I like to just continually evolve them until I don't feel like I can add anything. Then I'll find another game to play instead, and check back in on my villagers from time to time instead of playing for hours on end. I like revisiting my old games later on.

Now, if Nintendo had given us the option to have a second island...

I restarted my island about a week ago, and now that I saw the update I’m glad I did! Are you guys thinking of restarting your islands for the new update? Is your current island simply being updated for it? Or does it not affect you at all? Let me know!

I've actually never restarted my island and don't plan to.

Not because I'm too attached to the island itself, but it's hard for me to fathom losing all of my items, bells, my complete critterpedia, and NMT's.

I also hate the start of the game, doing chores for tom nook and going back to the basics.

I wish there was an option to clean up your entire island and start with a clean slate without having to restart and lose everything 😞

i won’t be. i love my island and the progress that i’ve made way too much to ever reset. :’)
