I, personally, am not paying the online membership for any game whatsoever. It saddens me that they tagged this on, because they just want more money, of which I don't have. The games themselves are already very expensive, which I can understand as they are amazing, but this means I can't afford the membership. On top of that, I'm stuck buying new Joy-Cons every 3 months, because they break. I know it's cheap or whatever, but in m opinion it isn't worth it. This will also take a lot away from being on the forums, although I will still be very active, of course.
Well, I already pay for the membership, so I will definitely use it too when Animal Crossing
comes out. I can't renounce the online mode, it would be just too boring for me playing
offline the whole time and missing all the online content. Sure, it sucks to pay for it, but
yeah...
I mean my biggest issue s actually getting a switch, but if I manage that, then yeah. $20 a year is literally nothing compared to just about every other premium service expense I've had
If I ever get a switch, I doubt I would pay for the online features mainly because that's just not a primary focus for me anymore. I like playing games with people right beside me more & that would stem into Animal Crossing, too.
I have bought the monthly subscriptions due to being too poor for a full year subscription LOL,,I have 2 primary switch games I enjoy playing online and soon animal crossing switch will be included in that mini list,,,
AC online has always been enjoyable for me and I look forward to playing online, so I defiantly will get it..
I definitely plan on being online, but I still find it upsetting that this is likely to significantly affect the online community. Personally, I created an account here when Bud was moving out of my town and I wanted to see if anyone would take him. I initially had no plan to stay around, but for some reason I did. Before I found this site, I really had no use for the online feature in New Leaf. If New Leaf required me to pay money just to play online, then I never would have tried selling Bud, therefore never becoming a member of this site.
Because of that, I wonder how much this will affect the forums in general. I definitely still expect a massive surge in activity when this game is released, but I also suspect there will be people who would have joined and made great contributions, if only they did not have to pay this fee.
Yeah, I'll be keeping my membership up, I've had one since the service's launch. While I don't care much for NES titles and all that, my friends and I run a family plan so we're all chipping in to make it easy for everyone. Thanks to this the issue of the membership is pretty much nonexistent for me. All that's left is being patient until the game arrives haha.
I mean, when we first heard about nintendo switch online costing $20 a year (more in Canada *sigh*), it sounded reasonable. But with how things are right now, it doesn't justify the price. They're pushing too much on the nes games and the online itself is pretty much the same if not worse. Look at Splatoon 2, the online matches are a mess and it's peer to peer instead of dedicated servers. If I do get the online service, I'll just take a seven day free trial and see how it works for me.
Aren't new joycons like $80 a pair? That's like paying for online membership for 4 years. I'm not sure if I'm following you here.
Anyways, my friend said that he's paying for the online service and he's gonna let me make an account on it. Idk if that actually works, but even if it doesn't I don't mind paying $20/yr for online service.
I'm currently on a family plan with my partner since I play games that are enhanced (imo) by online play. I'm not too bothered by it but I can see why it's annoying for some. Hopefully it won't negatively impact the AC community too much; I want to be able to connect with a bunch of different people again in the new game.
I had no clue that Nintendo added a online membership payment thing. I don?t really play on my switch much but maybe when I get to college, I?ll buy the membership as I used to love playing Splatoon and by that time, I?ll also want to play the future AC game online.
I played Wild World, City Folk, and New Leaf with limited/no Wi-Fi, so I'm actually used to this. I really don't want to give Nintendo any money for their rip-off online service by principle. Nothing has even remotely enticed me so far.
I got the year membership for Christmas. I'm not too bothered by the 20$, but I do think it's unnecessary. If I didn't get the membership, I'd only buy it for Splatoon 2 Online. that's it. Smash Online has a 50% of ruining a match by peer to peer lag, so I rarely play online.
I have no opinion on AC Switch Online, yet, because we have no information so far.
I resent being asked to pay, so I hope they don't do that.
That said, I heard it is $20/year and if so, I can afford it. So I will probably go ahead and pay. Despite that it would sure lower my opinion of Nintendo.
On the other hand, paying for individual items such as fortune cookies and such, as in Pocket Camp? Forget about it. If they do that, I'll sell my brand new switch and go back to playing New Leaf. Grrr...
I'm torn about it because I bought a switch to eventually play the new AC game. The current games that I have played on switch, that are awesome as it is, don't require online play, so I don't know if it's worth to get a subscription just for animal crossing. I mean, I know it's not that expensive but still. But yeah, I'd hate to miss out on online trading and playing with online friends so I know I'll get it at some point, I don't know if it will be right away though.
I expect it to be the incentive I need to pay the online fee. While it is affordable I'm really not using the Switch enough to justify the cost right now - especially as I currently have active subs for PS+ and an MMO.
