Guest, you're invited to help build our new TBT time capsule! It contains three parts, with some of its elements planned to open in 2029 and others not until the distant future of 2034. Get started in 2024 Community Time Capsule: Blueprints.
My best friend and I would use Skype or Discord to talk while playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and plan to do the same for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I don't have the means to use Nintendo Online's voice chat, but even if I did, I probably still wouldn't use it unless I had no other option.
As for anyone that isn't one of my close friends, no, I would just type to talk with other people like I would in New Leaf when conducting trades, adopting villagers, etc.
I'll definitely want to try to use it and depending on the quality of it, I might use it a lot with my friends. If the quality sucks, then I'll just be using discord vc as always while we all play together haha!
If I’m not familiar with who I’m playing with, then I’ll simply text them over Discord. Once I get to know someone better I love to talk over voice chat! It kind of recreates the experience of playing video games on the couch.
As long as the player is an adult, I'm fine with it, as it's so much easier than trying to type with one finger on my switch lol...I do tend to get nervous and either talk too much or am awkwardly silent. ^^;
edit: I would love to use Discord but my old Chromebook won't have any of it and it won't pick up my mic on my headset no matter what I do ;-; ...*siiiigh*
I can see where it would be useful but honestly I don't think it's necessary in animal crossing. I mean look at sky the ios game where you just emote at people and still players manage to come together and help one another. Having voice chat in animal crossing would take out a lot of the lackadaisical charm of the game
