worth buying BOTW when 2 is already in dev?

what a sheer delight ! i live for that textured good game nostalgia that echoes inside your heart. can i ask what your favorite moment(s) were? heard some critique about the musical atmosphere in the game so am curious if the environment as a whole still offers that wow punch or if its mostly visual? no spoiler warnings necessary haha

good point as well on the DLC. it doesn't impact anything for me to purchase later - like its an add-on to the main storyline that can be completed at any time, yeah?

I'd never finished a Zelda game before playing BOTW but I got it for my birthday like 3 years ago so gave it a go. Had been playing for like 5 minutes and got at the cave at the start, but I had headphones in and well it like did the automatic pan over hyrule at the start I loved it.

I think the music is perfect, there isn't music all the time but there ifs occasionally softer notes in the background- but I just think that makes the music more impactful in cut scenes and boss fights etc. The music all the time isn't really necessary cause the whole atmosphere of the game is so satisfying imo

haha, yeah! i remember thinking the whole set up of entering the divine beasts was so interesting - an dungeon equiv open to the landscape, those sought after long puzzles, etc. nice nice! thank ya :D

fair and valid points, thank ya!

oooh, is wally world the only place putting in on sale, tho, or have you seen it other places? 🤔 could be very into an on sale price for BOTW, but wouldn't nec wanna support wally world as a corporation lollll

yeah!! i haven't seen it on sale any place i've been looking (would prefer to avoid wally world), but haven't been looking all that intensely or often either haha. if you know of any good shops, i'd love a rec! :D

Well you could try another store to see if they have it on sale. But only so far I saw was Walmart

Also don't worry the game is sooo easy imo and a lot of other people says so too

I would probably say it is still worth it, unless you do not have the money to afford more video games as Breath Of The Wild will probably be a good introductory game to the series and there is still tons to do and explore, it is a huge game and either game will probably give HOURS worth of content!

Don't ever assume that a Nintendo produced sequel is just around the corner.

The truth is that there is ALWAYS a Zelda game in development. Nintendo though, are so protective of the franchise that they have no qulams in tearing it down and starting over at any point just because...

Just play botw. Its great.

I know your question has by far been answered but i saw this thread bumped and thought id add my opinion.
I'm a huge zelda fan and i like to say I've played a fair amount of games. BOTW is such a different experience than the vast majority of other zelda games; it breaks away from the much more puzzling element that puts a lot of people off zelda as a franchise and focuses much more on the experience, combat, and creativity. I highly recommend it to anyone as it feels much more like a sandbox that everyone can enjoy, rather than more of a puzzle game that may only appeal to a certain type of person, if you understand what i mean?
thats my take on it anyway!

Yes! Watching people play/stream it doesn't compare to your own playing experience imo. I've had so much fun exploring and getting sidetracked by just side quests and my own curiosity that I'd say it's definitely still worth playing even if you already know the story :)

BOTW is probably still my favorite Switch game that I have played so far, even more than Animal Crossing! The story-telling and graphics are absolutely AMAZING, and the gameplay is incredible as well. My partner is playing the game again since she kind of just watched me play the game years ago when we first initially bought the game, and I’m still blown away by just how beautiful everything looks to this day. This is also coming from someone who had this as her very first Zelda game that I have ever actually played through (I have watched Majora’s Mask playthroughs though!)

I really think it’s still worth buying since I’ve had such a fun experience with it!

You should get it 100%! It’s an amazing game, and there’s so much to do (especially if you’re a completionist like me). I think you also benefit if you play before the sequel comes out so that you can understand everything, because while there isn’t as big as a story as other Zelda games, there’s enough to where you could be confused if you don’t know who anyone is or what happened previously.

It’s one of those three-year old games that is still worth that full price tag. I say do it. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely it is sooo worth it! I loved that game so much! And especially since botw2 is going to be a direct sequel to the first game, I think it would be a disservice to your experience not to play the original beforehand.

Botw is a visually stunning game. you don't notice how fast the time actually moves in the game because it's just blending in well. It's really fun if you like exploring tiny nooks and crannies all over the world. Except for korok seeds.

Everyone hates korok seeds

Yes. If you like Zelda and enjoy exploration type games it's a must by. It's also a great value considering the playtime you get out of it compared to many other titles priced as high.

Heck yeah. It’s a gorgeous game that is packed with a practical metric ton of content. I’m 100% sure I haven’t searched every nook and cranny in BotW

I haven't played BOTW but you shouldn't feel discouraged from playing a game just because a sequel is coming out in the near future. If anything, playing the original would give more context to the sequel. Having said that, BOTW doesn't appeal to me though I love open world games, probably because I never really liked Legend of Zelda

I'm confused about the question
Why play BOTW when BOTW2 is close? ...

well, unlike any other zelda game (other than zelda 2), BOTW2 is a direct sequel. meaning the game will probably summarize the events of BOTW. but it will never tell the full story. or at least, it looks that way from that 1 trailer I saw and I don't wanna watch anything more than that because spoilers. so you should play the original to get the full story.
or you wait. given that it is a direct sequel, I expect deals that allow you to buy both games as a single package when BOTW2 comes out

BOTW is a great game with great graphics. and it's cartoon style make it so that it isn't likely to have "bad" graphics any time soon. this is why I like cartoonstyle games. it helps them age better :) and this is why wind waker is one of the best zelda games ^_^ (I want a switchport of that game nintendo!)

I haven’t played in a while but I’d definitely recommend! The graphics still hold up and even if they drop 2 soon, the stories and quests will still be completely different
