only if:

1. I know the floor is clean
2. It's an unusual/rare/expensive/otherwise difficult to obtain food

Never. No to even foods that fell on the table regardless how clean it is. It's a big no to me as general manner. BUT MY GIRL EATS IT REGARDLESS saying it's safe if it's within 3 seconds. ....Fine...

Some of the food I've had… You'd be doing it a favor by dropping it on the floor.

there are some factors for me LOL

>>Is the floor clean?
>>Was the food saucy (like pizza or smth)

most generally the answer is yes, but like if a saucy pizza or smth fell face down on the floor, I probably wouldn't eat it either way

It is both option 2 and 3 -- it depends on the floor and the food :p

I don't understand the five-second rule. Once the food touches the floor, it's thrown out, regardless of how clean the floor is. I can't imagine using this rule in a busy kitchen where you have to practice food safety.

In my own house? Yes
Anywhere else? No
Although as soon as it hit the floor my dog would eat it in lightning speed.

So it’s a given you don’t eat food off the floor...

So...

You don’t wipe your butt?

Of course I wipe it. That's why I said it's a given.
A question that doesn't need to be asked because the answer is (should be) obvious.

I used to eat food that fell on the floor, but I'm a man of culture now :lemon:

Definitely depends on how clean the floor is and the kind of food. A cookie accidentally fell on my immaculate kitchen floor and I picked it up after two seconds? Sure! Sticky food fell on a surface I know nothing about, where someone might have walked barefoot, thrown up or spat? Nah, I'm good.

My mouth has touched worse than the floor I assure you

just kidding but if the floors really nasty then nope

yes lol, unless it's like visibly dirty or something. You touch everything w/ ur hands, therefore they're really dirty, and i guarantee most all the people screaming eww don't wash their hands before eating.... >_>

...depends on how clean the floor is. I'm not above it when I'm alone.

It entirely depends on the cleanliness of the floor and the type of food. I never ever eat foods that are moist/squishy/etc because of how much extra dust and germs they absorb if they fall on the floor. I gotta admit though that I've occasionally eaten really dry foods if they fell on the floor in my own house in an area I know wasn't super dirty.

Depends on the food and where I am. If I drop a forkful of mac and cheese I'm not putting that in my mouth. But if a fry or a chicken tender slips off my plate? No problem, I'll blow it off and move on with my day.

It kinda depends on how likely floor dusties are going to stick to whatever I'm eating.

Depends what it is and how clean the floor is tbh, if it's meat, no. If it's a chip... maybe. My standards have increased from when I was 10 years old and applied that rule to everything.

I'm just curious.

How many of you who voted YES (you would eat food if it fell on the floor) are meat eaters?

Again, I just want this information for a personal theory. :D

I’m not about to waste food yeah I’d eat it as long as it isn’t obviously dirty
