depends on the floor/food, ur girl ain't about waste, i wouldn't like to eat off a carpet but i know i clean my wooden floors well so tbh i'd totally pick something back up, if it's outside that's absolutely gross of course lmao

ok so i voted under the assumption that this was the floor in my home and not something like a restaurant floor or someone else's home... if i know that i've cleaned recently i'm probably going to eat it off my floor but otherwise absolutely not

Usually not, but it also depends on the type of food. If I can clean the food without breaking it (imagine an apple f.e.), then yeah I'll do that at home. I wouldn't trust the cleanliness and health of other places though, no matter how sturdy the food is.

Depends on how good that food is. No way am I letting a bit of mud and dog poo get in the way of my croquet. (? □ ?)┛゚!!

The five second rule is a myth. As soon as that food touches the ground, it's already contaminated with hundreds of bacteria, so I tbrow it away, except for those occasions where I shut off my brain.

I used to if the floor was clean, and wasn't carpet, but now that we have a dog I don't eat anything off the floor.

I'd eat food off my own floors if it was freshly cleaned and I'm the only one who had been in there. Otherwise no.

i mean i dont rly see a huge problem cuz im not a germaphobe so ye ill pick food off the floor if i drop it (unless itse like rly wet food like soup/pudding/upside down pbj)

Nope. It’s like the universe double dipped. Don’t borrow trouble... believe me when I say that the floor will eventually fall into your food... and it sucks.

Totally depends on the floor and the type of food.

If it's in my house or the house of someone I know is a clean freak, the food has been on the floor for less than thirty seconds, it's the kind of thing that won't attract dust & dirt the moment it hits the floor, and it can be easily picked up off the floor? I will absolutely eat it.

If it's at work or in public, the food has been on the floor for an extended period of time, it's the kind of thing that will attract dust & dirt the moment it hits the floor (i.e., a cough drop that's fallen out of your mouth), or it can't be easily picked up off the floor (i.e., pudding)... that food is going into the compost, no matter how tasty it is or how hungry I am. :(

I'm a total clean freak too, but I still wouldn't eat off my floor.

Your shoes pick up dust and whatever is outside that you bring back in, plus my cat could have just used the litter box and walked around the house and to the kitchen where her food and water dish is.

No way, no how, would I ever risk disease.
Surely y'all aren't THAT hungry. o_O

There was no mention of kitchen. It was just floor in general. :)

It makes me shudder to think of anyone doing this. Yuck. :(

Being hygienic doesn't make you a queen. :)

Dude if you know what has been on the floor or the floor is clean it's not that big of a deal. If anything it makes you healthier by strengthing your immune system.

No way. It's really gross eating food off the floor. I'm very sensitive when it comes to germs and I don't care if the floor has been cleaned not too long ago. Sometimes I watch my dad do it and I'm like groooossss. So the answer is a strict no. :/

Uh, no. No it doesn't.

I've never heard a doctor recommend I compromise my immune system to strengthen it by eating off the floor.

Your post is truly mind boggling. o_O

Anyhow, I've got better things to do than debate the PRO's of E. coli, because there are none. :-/

Also, the 5 second rule is a proven myth.

Don't put yourself at risk. It's sheer idiocy.

as long as there isn't anything stuck to it when i pick it back up then totally! i'm here for a good time not a long time

It depends on the food, really. If it's not sticky and won't pick up hair or anything else gross from the floor, I'll eat it. Like m&ms.

The post didn't specify what kind of food. What about unpeeled veggies and fruits? Like you dropped a raw and unpeeled potato or an apple. You have to wash those anyway and those might have hit the floor already and being touched by many people before you buy them. Just like wrapped pomelo are full or germs but they are okay once washed.

We should also kindly remind people not to keep their shoes in the house!

We are very lucky to be able to choose whether to eat it or not. Plenty of people are still eating from the garbage where food than be exposed to something worse than what we found on our kitchen floor (although pets are doing a good job)

I do it sometimes but only at home because the floors are usually pretty clean. Doing it in public places is risky as hell but no shame if you choose to live on the wild side.

If I have a killer sandwich and I drop it on the floor for 2 seconds BEST BELIEVE I’m eating it. E. coli can suck it

The matter depends for me both on what type of food it is and what condition the floor in the situation is.

If it's something like a fruit that hasn't yet been peeled and cleaned and you can do so, like an apple or orange or some such, then yeah I'd totally just wash and remove the outer layer and then eat the flesh. I feel the floor still needs to be fairly well-maintained though.

If it's something that doesn't have the benefit of an outer layer, then no, more often than not I'll tend to throw away whatever fell. The five second rule is a myth, so yeah, I'd rather not.
