Would you kick a villager out and move them back in to reset their house/clothes?

Can't decide what I wanna do. This game is a bit too different from the old games and when I tried to replace some furniture in Cleo's house she began to instead hoard everything and rotate it on the daily and honestly i hate entering her house now. I hate even knowing what the inside of it looks like. My own fault though. Anyways, I'm considering using my amiibo to kick her out and then just move her back in. My only problem is losing a high friendship and any small memories she actually has as a villager in my town. Resetting her somehow feels dirty. What are your thoughts? Her house is driving me CRAZY.

Hmm tbh I personally wouldn’t, but I also don’t plan on keeping anybody permanently so that’s a major factor in my decision. I don’t think it’s dirty to use an amiibo card you have of her, though; that’s what they’re for!

I do wish they wouldn’t actually display the stuff you give them though lol. It was a major thing I disliked about NL, and while I think it can be kind of neat and add to the immersion of the game, for the most part it just makes their houses look like junk heaps.

Reneigh is the only villager I have that I’d need to do that for, but I really don’t care that much. She’s cool but not my top favorite villager ever so no big deal.

i would, lol. it's all about your enjoyment of the game - if it bothers you to just think about her house and it's impacting your enjoyment, then of course, change something so it stops gritting at you like a bad sand bath !

I don't mind them displaying what you give them, I hate that they rotate stuff now instead of moving old stuff out. I was able to replace all of the furniture in Fuschia's house from the ugly primary color kiddie stuff with sweet pastel versions to match her better, although she won't change her wall clock for me yet. In that situation I am so happy for it, but Cleo's house has gotten so bad that it looks like a joke. She seriously throws random crap onto different surfaces every day and it looks so bad. Having a computer sideways on a table instead in front of the chair where it used to be...

Sure. There's no harm in doing it. It's your game and it's not like you're kicking her out because she's ugly or you hate her (I've felt kinda bad doing that in the past, but did it stop me? No.) You can always just re-build the friendship back. I plan on doing it eventually with some of my villagers I had in the beginning who had starter homes/gave me their photos and I let move on. To me at least, I'd say go for it if it's bugging you.

I've thought about it, but a TBT user had a really interesting way of looking at it and I've decided against moving Skye out to invite her back in. In this game we don't have a town tree, so there isn't really anything that grows with the island since the beginning. Having a villager in their starter home is a way to show people: "hey, I didn't adopt them or have their amiibo, I found them on an island early on and they've been here since the beginning". I think that's beautiful! <3

That is a really nice way to look at it! I do have Fuschia in my town and she is in her starter home although I'm swapping the colors on her furniture from the standard to pastel. Since Cleo wasn't a starter though I feel more inclined to do it. I would never kick Fuschia out even if I had her amiibo. Her being a starter is definitely important to me, but I'm working with it in my own way. I hate the "kiddie" style furniture but I found out that I can swap out her "kiddie" colors for pastel. So she's still kind of original but not totally i guess? Certain things cannot change though like her wall, floor, and crafting table. Her clock has not changed although I've tried... so I'm changing her color pallette but the furniture is otherwise the same...

I love this! I don’t think I’ll let Reneigh go because of this. I let Teddy go but I want to see her stick around now.

I've been so tempted to do this with Dom since he was one of my founding villagers, but I don't like that they forget you when they leave and come back, and I want to keep him as the original founding member ):

Does it reset their clothing? I thought people said they bring their wardrobes with them?

I would. But more so from the perspective of the tutorial/starter houses. I like Buck a lot but, if I do choose to keep him, I'm still going to let him move after I get his photo and then would move him back in so he doesn't have the starter house anymore.

Clearly it's an issue to you if you cringe at visiting her home. So, I would probably do it if I were you. Friendship can be made back up.

You can reset their clothes with Isabelle, btw.

Also, I usually keep them until they ask to move at least a few times. I prefer cycling out different villagers to keep dialogue and personality fresh on my island.

I would totally do that! I am extra careful about what i give them currently because i dont have a single amiibo card yet.

I want to for Flurry and Genji because they have set houses rather than their actual house interiors...
But I don't have Genji's photo yet and I've gifted Flurry so many things I'd rather someone hold them for me.
I'd be worried of not finding them again if I don't do it that way :c

I would and have. First with Merengue, then with Cherry (who had the exterior house glitch).

I would! I gave nan a piece of clothing she didn’t like much, and she displayed it in her home. Eventually I plant to kick her out and bring her back with an amiibo to reset her house.
