Hi there,
There's a wacom bamboo tablet in a nearby pawn shop, and it's only $40, so I'm toying with the idea of getting it, I've been thinking about getting a digital pad for a while and this seems like maybe a good starting one.
  • I don't know which version it is, the person with the key was busy.
  • It has it's box, but I don't know what it has with it.
  • I'm going to see if it's still available, if it is, I'm going to really research it.

So if you would recommend me it, what should it come with?
Thanks!

bamboo has **** pen pressure, ur better off with a small cheap intuos (about ?50, idk what it is in dollars)

Bamboo is a good starter tablet! Intuos (or intuos pro now) has double the pen pressure, but you might want to upgrade to it after you've jump started with the bamboo as it might be a bit tough to adapt to it;;

Generally speaking, the tablet box comes with the actual tablet, a cord, and a pen. Sometimes it comes with some sort of program so there's that too, but contents really differ from which edition the bamboo is. You might want to give it a google to make sure what contents come with the box ^^

just like jinti said it should come with a tablet, the usb cable/cord and a pen (possibly with a manual) and maybe a cd? if there's a code for a free art program it might not be redeemable anymore but u could try it anyway. a good friend of mine bought it for $80 and is still using it till today. hers didnt have a free art program but newer models do. it's a good tablet especially for starters.

edit: I forgot; you should also check the pen nib to see if it's worn out, and see if there are extra pen nibs that should be in a flat compartment under the tablet. if there's none u can always buy a pack of new nibs for around $11 online. good luck!

I think it'd be a good starter, I prefer the intuos like others, but a bamboo would make a good starter, so you can see if you like and will actually use it, and then can eventually upgrade to an intuos if you get into it. Like everyone else mentioned you want to make sure it comes with everything in it before purchasing.

Great, thanks guys, if it's still available, I might get and see if I actually like using a tablet or not. That way, I'm not out that much if I don't.

I have a small Wacom Bamboo tablet and I think it is fine. I don't use it much though just because I prefer to draw by hand and scan my drawings if I need to work digitally. It is pretty fun to use with the brushes in Photoshop and Illustrator though. I like the setting where the tablet screen is like your monitor screen: ex.) corners of the tablet drawing area moves your mouse / brush to corners of your monitor screen. I forget what the other option was, but it didn't work as well for me. The one thing I do not like is that the back end of the pen does not act like an eraser. I set the eraser tool to a button on the side of the pen, but it is a little awkward that way. Mine also came with Corel painter which is pretty fun because you can blend different paint colors together. Painter files just doesn't export to Photoshop well. For some reason it made them really blurry when I tried.
