So, yeah. The question's in the title..

Would you want paid DLC that adds more items, more house customization, more villagers from a new species type, and one 'gameplay feature' (like sand sifting or something), kind of like a Sims 4 expansion pack. I'd cost like $8-14 dollars a pack.

Honestly I'd kind of want DLC, as long as it doesn't affect the base game. I'd rather have a pay $120 for a bit more than get a $60 game with a little bit less features.

Also, what 'DLC Packs' would you want? I'd like a beach themed one. With a new strained furniture set, and a new 'beach house' house customization. Also new villagers like crabs or sharks. Lastly, the new gameplay feature for me would be like 10 new fish.

Anyways, I'd like to see people's thoughts on the topic, since Nintendo has a good chance there'll be paid DLC, like with Mario Kart 8 and Zelda Breath Of The Wild.

I don't think there'd be dlc for AC switch, considering the pretty large social aspect of the game. For example, say you haven't bought let's say, a beach town dlc. Your friend does, and uses it a lot in their town. In order to visit them, it would have to send all the dlc assets temporarily and delete them after so you still need to buy the dlc. It would be either very slow load times, or unreasonably amazing internet. Also 8 dollars for a few items is overpriced and you know it.

I don't think I would want that for AC. I'm not really sure why though as I do consider paid dlc to be fine. Dunno really.

idk I kind of got used to buying $10 expansion packs for the Sims 4 that got you basically 20 items.

I would really just like giant pieces of DLC after the game releases, kind of like how Splatoon 2 had a few major updates which added a BUNCH of stuff.

All in all, I think Animal Crossing isn't a game that's well suited to having paid DLC. But if it does happen, I hope at least AC follows the example of MK8 and BotW - both of which had two DLC 'packs,' and that was it. I'm a big Sims fan, but I definitely don't want to see Animal Crossing go in the direction of that game's DLC model.

I'd definitely be more okay with the 'packs', but I feel like Animal Crossing is something Nintendo is going to want to keep everyone on the same page on so I don't think they would want to lock something big behind a paywall if it meant your experience was going to differ greatly from other players.

No this would be so bad.
Like we all deserve the same content, Animal Crossing is not like Mario Kart where you can play without the DLC.
I mean if it's a furniture DLC I guess that's "ok". But any other type of DLC would be a no for me.

Paid DLC content doesn't really suit AC to me.

I feel like if they wanted to do exclusive items, they should make sets like the "7-11 set" in JPN region where you go to the store and import it to your game.
Or like for the USA version we had to go to Best Buy at some point to get some rare items. I think things like these are fun.

I think Nintendo should stay away from making people pay for DLC packs in AC. Just my thoughts on it

Oh god no, AC DLC would be so godamn awful. AC doesn't suit it at all. What Galaxxy was saying there about those 7-11 sets, those are just fun shenanigans, but when you lock content behind a paywall in what will probably be a heavily online game, with events that happen annually, It just would not work.

AC already has paid DLC through amiibos. You can get the items for free through trading, but someone had to buy the amiibos originally to trade it to you.

I'd rather them not have paid DLC at all, TBH.

latest

I’ve had my fair share of that in pocket camp tyvm

I don't think paid DLC is something that would happen, but I could see some sort of microtransactions in the game. I'm pretty much against all microtransactions in full AAA games.

no, AC is best suited for free DLC only. it's an expensive game... plus the market here would get ****ed if they incorporated paid dlc in a console animal crossing. where is your god now, mods

I guess another question could be... would you pay for it even if you didn't agree with it?
I... might. I love always having 100% within my grasp even if I never achieve it.

buy these 10 new villagers for only fifty dollars #deal

honestly if there are any dlcs i will be very annoyed. it's only acceptable in games where it expands the story or gameplay (adds another play mode or something) and maybe for extra clothes or characters (some people like that but i really really don't).
adding paywalls to the game for things that should be in the basegame is greedy and annoying and i hope it isn't coming to main animal crossing titles because that would Suck.

event dlc is okay i guess but paid dlc would be one of the worst things that could happen to animal crossing imo

edit: i feel a bit similarly about amiibos, the way they work now is okay but making more things amiibo exclusive would suck. items are alright thanks to trading and hacks but in game functionalities shouldn't need amiibos. imagine having to use a harriet amiibo every time you wanted to switch hairstyle

i dont think there should be paid dlc, they should do the monthly free one, if they want to have some way to have paid items ect... they could go the route of amiibo cards/ amiibos i wouldnt have problems with that for some reason though XD

If it's like Amiibo then yes, bring it on! I love collecting Amiibo and the cool furniture and clothes they unlock. And we can always trade/give away items, which I think is fun. I'm actually excited to see who they bring out next. I'm hoping for Nat, Pascal, and Luna.
But if it's more like pay x amount of money to get this pack, or, god forbid leaf tickets, I wouldn't be happy. It's silly, I know, but I feel like there's a big distinction between buying a figurine that happens to unlock extra stuff in game vs just buying digital items outright. Especially if it opened a new island with minigames or something like that. I think the main chunk of Animal Crossing should feel pretty cohesive across players, we should all have access to the same (major) things. And trade and share clothes/items that are Amiibo locked.

I HATE amiibo "dlc".

I don't want to clutter my house with nonsense to have some digital items.

If the amiibos have something, sell it for cheap as a DLC pack.

Absolutely not. Amiibo functionality is more than enough.

If Pocket Camp is receiving heavy backlash for Leaf Tickets, now imagine the backlash if DLC that wasn't Amiibo arrived.
