some people i know do say x-mas. But i try to avoid it. I've seen some people get offended if you omit the "Christ" from Christmas. I know its just an abbreviation, but some people take it more personal. I wonder why its xmas and not cmas anyway?

Well I just say maybe because it sounds more weird and its faster to type in x-mas then Christmas.

The people who get most upset about Xmas because it's "taking Christ out of Christmas" are just too lazy to actually research and are being unreasonable about things. Not saying anyone here is doing that, just saying that people out in the world who get really up in arms about it are making a fuss about nothing.

For those who are curious, the reason it is shortened to Xmas instead of Cmas is because the X in Xmas has its origins in the Greek letter Chi, written as X, which is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ. It just seems weird to some because it's borrowed from another language, but the usage goes back a long ways. If anyone has ever seen a P intersecting with an X at or around a church, like

that X is the same. Our letter P shares its appearance with the Greek letter Rho. The PX combination is called a Chi Rho. X and P, Chi and Rho, are the first two letters of the Greek word for Christ, Χριστός. In essence, it's just shorthand for Christ.

I've probably used Xmas in writing or on a gift or something in the past, but when speaking aloud I just use Christmas.

Yeah already heard on why its X mas and not C mas, but to me its still pretty weird.

I say Christmas, I had no idea that some people call it X-Mas, besides the things on TV (usually in Cartoons).

I say Christmas. I type either. "X" probably comes from the crisscross, so it's spoken the same anyway.

I usually use "lol" to specify the tone I'm writing in seeing it's not as easily conveyed online, or else it's just something I'm used to from being online since 2005. I might seem aloof and apathetic irl but I'm really not.

I think of and celebrate it as the Winter Solstice, but I just say "Christmas" so as to not ruffle too many feathers.

ive never hear anyone say xmas...... I say christmas.

I always say Christmas because to me it sounds more magical than X-mas. Though, l wish I knew who came up with the word X-mas. :)

The X actually comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of Χρήστος. And if that’s all Greek to you, Χρήστος, of course, means Christ. Who'd have thunk?

The 0 votes for X-mas... it’s sending me..!

i've never actually heard anyone say "xmas" out loud, only every now & again in a text or something.

I don?t understand why people even type x-mas just type the rest of the word please.
All I want for Christmas is y-for people to stop shortening words on the internet please it?s annoying-ouuuuuuuuu
Also wait people say x-mas? Like out loud?

Alright then gotta add to my Christmas list to make that not be a thing.
(Note: this post is a joke. If you shorten words on the internet or say x-mas we cool don?t worry. Unless you say ?lol? in real life. Then we gonna have a problem.)

i say christmas because i was raised in a christian household, but if people say x-mas then i don't really mind since there's different religions and people and such. i don't think i've heard anyone say it verbally though...? i don't think i know anyone who says that, but when people get angry over companies using it it's kinda funny tbh

I say Christmas because it literally just sounds better. It makes me cringe when people actually say ?X-mas.? It even makes me cringe when people type ?X-mas.? X-mas sounds like an abbreviation, and I do not like abbreviations.
