The people who get most upset about Xmas because it's "taking Christ out of Christmas" are just too lazy to actually research and are being unreasonable about things. Not saying anyone here is doing that, just saying that people out in the world who get really up in arms about it are making a fuss about nothing.
For those who are curious, the reason it is shortened to Xmas instead of Cmas is because the X in Xmas has its origins in the Greek letter Chi, written as X, which is the first letter of the Greek word for Christ. It just seems weird to some because it's borrowed from another language, but the usage goes back a long ways. If anyone has ever seen a P intersecting with an X at or around a church, like
that X is the same. Our letter P shares its appearance with the Greek letter Rho. The PX combination is called a Chi Rho. X and P, Chi and Rho, are the first two letters of the Greek word for Christ, Χριστός. In essence, it's just shorthand for Christ.
I've probably used Xmas in writing or on a gift or something in the past, but when speaking aloud I just use Christmas.
