1,2, and 3 are all mint for me.

I will always love 1, because that's where it all started...and that's where I started with the series. (Pokemon Red and my dandelion yellow Gameboy Color will be burned into my brain for eternity)...but, I think Gold/Silver/Crystal are probably objectively the best games in the franchise. And Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald also had a really nice feel to them.

My vote goes to Gold/Silver/Crystal (and the remakes)...just because, if I had to choose one set of games to keep while losing the others, I'd probably go with those games.

Also, I think, you know...while Red and Blue might not have been the strongest games in the series...Gen 1 also includes the original season of the animated television show...the first movie...the base set of the Pokemon cards. There's a lot that goes with that initial Generation. So, it's always going to be hard to say Gen 1 wasn't awesome...because, it was. That's a lot of memories.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say Gen 7. I actually started with Gen 1 back in the '90s, but I had the most fun with Gen 7 overall. I just really liked especially that it's so much easier to raise and train Pokemon than ever before.

Gen 2 is my second favorite, and my only experience with that is the VC version of Crystal that I bought when that released. I didn't actually play Gen 2 back in the day because of being busy at the time, then got back into Pokemon with Gen 3. It really improved things from Gen 1. I think a downside of playing Gen 2 when I did is, of course, I played it after playing newer gens. The breeding is such a hassle in Gen 2. I'm glad they made it better since then.

I won't vote any of them because I would rather be able to vote more than one. I have 3 favorite gen of pokemon.

I think you're right that it's hard to compare any older gen vs. the newer ones once you get used to the improvements made in each subsequent gen, but at the time those improvements in gen 2 were amazing

My favorite game of all time was Soul Silver. I played that game for hours on end, it's definitely the most nostalgic for me.

Gen 3 for me. Sapphire for me was the game that really got me into Pokemon.

I like Gen 3 the best overall, but I also have a lot of love towards Gen 5 because it got my back into Pokémon after a while and Black/White is just a fantastic game.

I actually really loved the gameplay and story of Sun/Moon! The ending made me legit cry and I remember binging the game within a day and a half lol. I never got a chance to play Gold/Silver/Crystal or Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, though, so maybe my opinion would change if I took the time time to play them? I also really love the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games!

Gen 3 but that's 100% just nostalgia. I also really like gens 4 and 5, and gen 4 is my favorite in terms of spinoff games, but I also love a lot of the gen 3 spinoff games.

Gen 2 because that the Generation I started with. Played Soul Silver. I always have a hard time picking a starter. I love all three of the them. I had an undying love for Zigzagoon as a kid. I would catch on and name it Ziggy. I really love the new form it has now from the current gen. Gen 2 has a bunch of my favs like Mareep and girafarig. Plus it got Lugia who is my all time favorite legendary. I just have sone every good memories with that game.

I started my journey in the world of pokemon in Kalos so i will allways look back at it with nostalgia. kalos also means beautiful in french and thats a very fitting name for the region because the style is pretty beautiful

For me, heart gold and soul silver win by quite a bit. Gen 2 in general probably has the most nostalgia, but for pure terms of enjoyment and replay ability, Gen 4 / HG and SS are the winners. Randomizer nuzlockes on Heart Gold are incredibly fun.

Gen 4. Yes, it's because of nostalgia. Second favorite would probably Gen be 3, since I got Sapphire soon after.

Probably an unpopular-ish opinion, but I really enjoyed Sun and Moon! I thought the story line was pretty good especially compared to SWSH, I got really attached to Lillie and just enjoy the whole island them in general. I think SWSH story was good but it never felt as complete or fleshed out as I'd expected it too, I get that there's DLC coming but the story should feel complete in the base game still.. it should be so good that I get the DLC because I want the story to keep going not because it literally needs to to be fleshed out (sorry for the mini-rant, thought galar was beautiful so really wanted the story to be better than it was)

Emerald is by far the best game of the franchise. Best Pokédex (absolutely perfect starter lines), best music, best region overall, best teams aside from Team Rocket. They totally screwed up the remakes though, absolutely hated them, the music was massacred, and a lot of stuff was forgotten/changed for the worse. I mean Leaf green, fire red, heartgold & soulsilver were perfect in every way, how could they screw up the 3rd gen remakes so much... It made me so sad.

Second best game for me is obviously gold & its remake, loved it. And cyndaquil/quilava/typhlosion existing just makes my love for those games stronger. So sad my internal battery died and made all my Pokémon disappear. :'(

4th gen comes next, I wasn't convinced at first but now I really like this region. I really hope the remake will be on the hgss/lgfr level and not messed up like oras.

1st gen comes 4th, still love it but I've played it way too much. While leaf green and fire red were really amazing, I didn't really like the let's go remakes, hated the capture system, and was really sad the sevii island were not there. It was nice to stroll around with Pikachu on my shoulders and another pokemon following close by though...

5th gen was great, but really not my fave pokemon& music-wise. bW2 was a great addition though, I hoped they would continue going this way for the future "3rd games" but usum proved me wrong.

I'm amongst the few people who really liked sword and shield, loved the Pokédex and a lot of the stuff the game had to offer. The big negative point goes to the graphics which are pretty bad, especially in the wild area with the aweful drops of framerate. But hey, I've somewhat disliked the graphics ever since they switched to full 3D so... I really do hope they make it better on future occurrences though, because my eyes are starting to hurt.

XY comes next, I hated the childish dialogues and the use of emojis, and really disliked the three rival characters. But it was a nice game overall, though I'd rather they had kept the old graphics instead of going full 3D.

Sun and Moon were not "bad" but I didn't feel like they were "good" either, the big joke that was usum made me really angry with this generation. Those games were completely useless, they barely brought anything new, I don't even understand why they came out. I didn't even go through to the end. No big scenario tweak like in bW2, not the two versions in one with bonus content like yellow, crystal, emerald and platinum. No, lazyness at its peak, like wtf GF don't do that ever again please.

My first Pokemon game was Leaf Green but I feel like I enjoyed gen 3 (Ruby) and gen 4 (Diamond) the most. I enjoyed their stories the most out of all the generations for sure, and some of my favourite Pokemon were introduced when these games came out so that's probably why.

Gen 2. Silver was the first game I loved so much even though I did play Red/Blue before. I also liked the remakes a lot even though I could never go online T_T

Honestly mine is gen 5, Pokemon black and white. It was my first Pokemon game, that I've ever played. I beat it recently and it brought back so many memories!

I love the original 151, but Gen IV has an absolutely special place in my heart. So many fantastic Pokemon that gen, such as Luxray and Empoleon.
