A Nintendo DS lite in 2008 It came with a few games my nan had bought that she thought Id enjoy. With her very limited knowledge of gaming consoles she bought me Animal Crossing Wild World... good choice nana.
For a long time I said the DS Lite I got for my 8th birthday since it’s what really got me into gaming, but technically there is one other console I had earlier. It was a V.smile, a Chinese cartridge based console for small children that had licensed video games for animated movies. The only games I had for it were Toy Story 2, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo. Which one of those three was my first video game I have no idea. I lost interest in the system pretty quickly since the games weren’t very good and I didn’t know how to play video games properly.
My first console was a Super Nintendo—despite not being gamers at all, my parents had one from a garage sale or something, so I grew up playing Mario Bros and Donkey Kong Country from the time I was about 4. Plus a lot of classic old games like Pitfall, the video game of We’re Back!, the ancient Disney Lion King and Jungle Book platformers, etc. I remember making my parents leave the SNES on for several days so I could finally finish all the Donkey Kong Country games without having to restart every day.
It is interesting to me to look back on, as many of my peers’ parents were very hesitant about video gaming. I’m not sure why my parents were so positive about my interest in it when they themselves didn’t really see the appeal at all. Thanks, mom and dad!
First one I’ve played? I probably played on gamecube or Nintendo 64. First console that was mine and didn’t have to share? It was the first Nintendo DS. I loved playing the Pokémon games on it and still have a good memories of it.
Kind of both the DS and the Wii. I was 5 when I got my DS, but I played on my mum’s before that, and I also played Mario Kart Wii around the same time. So I don’t actually know.
The first console my family owned and I played was an NES, the first console that was specifically just mine was a Nintendo DS Lite, and the first console I bought for myself was the Nintendo Switch~
