First console in our household? Atari 2600. 
We had a lot of "disagreements" over whose turn it was to play lol. The games I most remember playing were space invaders, combat, night driver, and yars revenge.
Later in college I got the snes, and would have a bunch of people over to play street fighter 2.
I remember we couldn't afford all the games, so we would each buy different games and then just go to each others' apartments to play. Good times.
And for a good laugh, this is the type of 'console' my husband first owned.
I remember playing pong with that set-up at a friend's house. The atari 2600 was so much better in comparison.
And now we're both laughing at how old we are.

The first console(s) I got were given to me from my older brother when we were kids. Nintendo 64, Sega, etc all those early ones. The first one I got gifted to me brand new was a gameboy advance. It was purple and I had the little magnifier attachment on it. First one I bought on my own was a Nintendo DS.

The first video games I played were SNES and N64 ones, but I used an emulator for them. My first console that I owned was the Wii that I got for my 10th birthday, which originally belonged to my older brother. (I played it before it was given to me, though.) As a bonus answer, my first handheld was the 3DS that I got for Christmas in the 7th grade.

Mine was a Nintendo DS Lite if I remember correctly. I think it was a black one.

My first console was the NES, I still have it too, and my first handheld was a classic gray gameboy.

The Gameboy Color!! It was a nice shade of blue. I also got a copy of Pokémon Gold with it!
But me and my brother shared it, technically. We used to fight over it ALL the time xD
But, my first actual owned handheld console, was probably the DS Lite! Mine was a metallic pink. I remember getting a Hannah Montana game with it for Christmas. I made my older brother trade his Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game to me, for it though xD
And then I think my first non handheld was.. uh.. Either the Wii or one of those stupid plug and play games; which probably doesn’t even count.
