Your opinion on cottagecore islands?

The theme itself? Overdone.

Honestly I think I just hate the name itself. "Cottagecore." Why does everything have to be "core" now? Why can't it just be a cottage/forest island? Why can't it just be a "fairytale" theme? What does "fairycore" even mean like what the heck

I never knew what cottagecore was, but it seems like that's what my island is :'D I was going for a kinda mountain-ous rustic forest theme; turns out lots of people are! And I think that's great, because they all look great! None of them are exactly the same, so I have no problem with there being a ton of them

Not gonna lie tho, the very first time I saw the word cottagecore before NH came out I laughed and thought it was stupid. And now... Everyone uses it like it's some kind of commonplace thing. I guess it technically is now but I just don't get the "core" aspect of themes? Like if I wanted to make an island with a skatepark/punk theme, I'm not gonna call it "skatercore" that just sounds dumb.

Anyway I've gotten off topic haha.

Side note I have to say the most cringey thing I've ever heard was "kiddiecore" like that almost sounds ... Bad.

First time I heard of this term a few months ago. I mean, I honestly don't care about if everyone wants their island to be cottagecore or whatever they call it, as long as they're properly designed and the areas are connected, I would not mind. Let people do what they want.

I don't like the term "cottagecore". I prefer calling them "natural towns" like they were called back in the NL days.

But anyway, I was a big fan of the natural towns in NL so it's only natural (huehuehue) that I like the theme in this game too. I stay off most Animal Crossing blogs and stuff so I don't see screenshots of people's towns as often so I haven't gotten sick of the natural town look yet which is nice.

I love cottagecore, but I prefer tropical resort themes. I think anything can be a great theme depending on the island. I love more unique islands, personally. I think a lot of people have done cottagecore. It’s overused.

I do like them, the only problem is that they're the most common theme in every island you visit. Almost as if it's the meta theme or something.

I mean, uniqueness and variety exists. Which is why I prefer those islands more.

I hate any kind of core
They make all islands look the same so it can make dreaming quite boring if you're unlucky

I hate how there seems to be a rule book for it.
I hate how they all look like copy pastes of each others islands.
I hate how they all have the same villagers.
I hate how youtubers make guides on how to do cottagecore. What villagers to have etc

Its just so boring and uninspired.

I like to see islands with original stuff. Seeing the creators own stamp on it. The villagers they chose, not to fit into some arbitrary theme, but because they hold genuine love for them.

But that's just my thoughts on cottagecore.
I in no way wish to say that people shouldn't do cottagecore. It's their islands and they have every right to do as they please with it.

I'm just tired of seeing it lol

Boring, overdone, and an eyesore. I hate cluttered islands and custom paths/designs. Almost every island I visit looks similar.

Nothing against people who use this kind of theme for their island, but at this point it's just kinda overrated and overdone. Like if you check out AC YouTubers for example, it seems the majority of them only going with the whole cottagecore thing, which is a bit boring after a while tbh if you're not fully into this. Personally, it's not a theme I would use since I wouldn't enjoy it to have so many cluttered areas and decoration everywhere on my island.
