I agree with you completely cuz cottagecore can be so cute but everyone is doing it so its not very exciting to see anymore! Personally, I really love seeing the industrial island designs because you can tell just by looking at them how much work went in and they are all unique in their own ways and exciting.
I had to look it up in google to get some better understanding haha. Anyway, it's kinda cute, I guess? Not my aesthetic by any means, but pleasant to look at.
i really like it! i think it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing themes one can go for their island. but it's true that this theme is getting a bit overused, however i personally don't mind seeing it so often since it gives me many ideas for my own island.
I like it. Never heard the word "cottagecore" until New Horizons.. I think most people are doing the woodsy/natural theme because a lot of items (like the fences and garden decorations) lend itself to it, plus it's realistic and cute. Japanese styled islands are popular for the same reason. Lots to work with.
I think if we had more items we'd see more variety, tbh. People have been very creative with patterns and simple panels and all that, but if you wanted to make an old timey island, medieval, or cosmopolitan you have to put a lot more effort in. There's just not really enough customization options or items.
I think they're nice. Maybe they get a little excessive, but I'd say for a good reason. There's a lot of furniture to work with and it's a cute aesthetic. I'll probably incorporate at least a little into my island.
I think it's cute, but I doubt I'd be able to pull it off well. Personally, I'm going for a more natural/forest/fairy forest type of theme for my island. Well, at least until the mushroom items come off, then my island will be a mushroom fairy forest theme for sure.
They're very cute in my opinion! I've taken some inspiration from them for my most recent island renovation, but I'm not committed enough to the custom path scene to get too crazy with those yet. I think since we have a lot more space to design in this game, it can certainly be a nice element to add c:
I feel like most islands I see are perfectly symmetrical. I don’t find that appealing really. I go with a camping theme and have a lot of parks and stuff. Nothing is straight tho, and all the houses are not lined up. It’s just more natural I think.
Well, now that I've Googled it, I like it. I've definitely seen a lot of pics with that look in ACNH- I don't really think it's a lack of creativity, if that's what people really like and want their island to look like, who cares if it's not unique? Personally, it's a bit much for me to want to an ENTIRE island like that, but I wouldn't mind a few spots like that. I'm... actually getting some ideas for my forest right now
It took me a while to see what the 'cottagecore' supposedly looked like... And after seeing it, I think it is common because that's what the game grants players the most options for: Natural-looking paths, rustic furniture, and wild terraforming. There just isn't much in the way of industrial and synthetic items in the game - and it takes a lot more work to nail such looks down in a natural island environment.
Looking at my island, it might be semi-cottagecore - I have this large naturalistic mountain on one side, and a symmetrical village of homes on another. Lots of flower breeding grounds, an orchard for each fruit tree, and a rustic campsite. No crazy paths though, and there's also a bit of a oasis in the center.
Either way, it suits my purposes, and I don't care what my town gets classified as. People should make towns for their own needs - not just because it's either exotic or trendy.
I'm still learning what "cottagecore" is.. I don't watch island tour videos, and I don't really explore most people's islands, so I haven't really experienced any cottagecore islands! From what google shows me, they look super cute, but it's a little too all-over-the-place for me personally. I can't wait til the dream suite comes out so I can explore all the islands!!
Cottagecore islands are really cute, but I don't think I'd ever make one myself. They tend to be difficult to navigate. I love my plazas and straight roads.
Honestly I think I just hate the name itself. "Cottagecore." Why does everything have to be "core" now? Why can't it just be a cottage/forest island? Why can't it just be a "fairytale" theme? What does "fairycore" even mean like what the heck
