Challenge #6 SOLVED
Columnar Transposition
okay maybe i'm just stupid because it's before noon, but what's the key supposed to be ??? because every time i try to solve it, it needs a key, and brute forcing just isn't working. i can see some of the deciphered answer that way but not all of it. having the number of columns or w/e isn't helping me at least.
Ignore the numbers of letters in each "grouping" in the original code. That's a distraction.
So when you write the columns, use (number of seals in the bible) letters. After you get that many letters in a column, start at the top of the next column and do another of that many letters. Once you have that many columns of that many letters, (a block) read across the colums starting from the top, going left to right.
Ignore the numbers of letters in each "grouping" in the original code. That's a distraction.
omg thank you, this is what finally got it to click for me! i’ve been staring at everyone’s hints all night feeling stupid because i literally had no idea what to make of themSo when you write the columns, use (number of seals in the bible) letters. I think I made the exact same mistake But your post made me finally realize what I was doing wrong, so thanks!!!alright, so for number 6 I figured out the cipher and then in trying to input the answer, it turns out that I "solved" it all wrong
story of my life
For puzzle 6?Could someone please help me? I’m so lost.
Thank you for the hints everyone, I managed to get 6
Also, unsure If I'm jus being dumb, but was there a way to know how many letters were meant to be in each column other than trial an error? I was trying to do nine at first because of how many "words" there were in the prompt.
Ahh thank you!! That makes senseI was thinking
There are 49 letters. Perfect square. Square root would be first thing to try.Post automatically merged:
But if jadetine hadn't corrected our initial wrong direction, I'd probably still be trying it the other way.
uh, so... still stuck on 6.
i have the decrpyted message, it's the same as what i managed to brute-force anagram and guess this morning, but... it doesn't help. i feel like i'm missing a step between decrypting the message and inputting a code? or am i just like really stupid?
are you writing it in a column, gridlike pattern?Post automatically merged:
Sorted! I got the code. Great challenge.
