Today marks the third anniversary of the wonderful handheld known as the DS... and in my opinion, it's easily the best handheld ever made. I can name at least 40 must-have games, if not 50. Myself, I own around 30, and I'm happy with every single one.

Also, a note -- I got my DS at launch, November 21st, 2004... man, that was a great day.

YOU!!!....

beat me to it.

:(

@ I got my DS in '05 for my B-Day.
HA! I was about to make a thread on the same thing

But yeah, the DS has easily become my favorite handheld, and like you said Bul, it has SOO many must-have games.

Definitely the best handheld ever. I got mine about 2 months after launch for my birthday. Even though I only have around 15 games, I play the DS more than my Wii games and VC titles (although not so much since Galaxy came out).

I got my DS at launch even though I have only 24 games. I can't afford 40-50 of the must haves. I suppose my birthday may bring in a new game or games!

Mine's a launch DS, but I didn't get it on launch day. My mom wanted to give it to me on Christmas, and she was like 'Slowwww dooowwwnn', but I said 'Hell no!' and kicked in the face with my ENERGY LEGS.

So I got it around Thanksgiving.

Anyway, the DS is full of Pimp. Let no one tell you otherwise.

I worked all summer in '05 to buy my DS. It's an electric blue one that came with the SM64DS bundle.

I got mine on Christmas in 2005. It is my favorite handheld as well. I play more DS games then I do on the Wii. Almost every game I have played I have enjoyed.

Could you name some of those? Seriously, I'm in dire need of a good DS game right now.

I love PowerThirst.

I love it so much I gave shockolate to my babies to they would run like kenyans and then people would think they were kenyans so they deported them back to Kenya.

In need of a good DS game, JJ? You've played EBA right? Best. Game. Ever.

And yeah, I definately agree, the DS is the most amazing handheld ever. I almost even like it more than I like the Wii...heck, I might just like it more...

Oh yeah, forgot a few.

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
Tetris DS
Feel the Magic: XY/XX
Lost in Blue (though I personally disliked it, it's still a good game for most)
Pac 'n Roll
Worms: Open Warfare 2
SimCity DS

The DS games are fun but they aren't to the level games like Mass Effect and Bioshock are. I dunno about 40 must have games, I probably have 8-10 of them and I really could have done without them.

Dang, I have most of those D:

Thats probably why I'm in desperate need of new ones

:p
Yeah, well, you can't have a 100 great games on one system.

:p

...unless we're talking about the PS2, which the DS is probably going to topple as the best selling console ever.

Also - PS2 has been selling for... 7 years, right? Imagine 4 more years of DS, with developers now knowing its full power. Wow. 0_0

I wouldn't be comparing the two, they are completely different.

We're talking sales, and that's something you can compare two different things with. And actually they're more similar than anyone thinks. They're both geared mostly at casuals, with still a lot of hardcore users and games, yet easy to pick up and play.

I didn't get my DS on launch, but I did get the Hot Rod Red DS Bundle (came with MKDS) for Christmas 2 years ago. I loved it, and I still play it (I'm currently borrowing Elite Beat Agents from my cousin, and man doesn't that game have bunches of replay value!?)!

I agree, the DS is currently the best handheld right now. I only have 6 games (few are must-haves) right now (not many...), but I still play it, thanks to EBA.
