Hiking is a unique experience for every individual. Some go to camp out under the stars, others go to track down elusive creatures such as the bigfoot (otherwise known as a hairy dude who is just good at social distancing). But what will you bring to survive in the great outdoors?

How to Play 🗻

  • Using Harvey's Photo Studio, create an outfit for your island rep/character that suits your idea of a hiking or camping trip. Next to your character, place 5 items that you would bring on your trip. In your submission post, explain your outfit and item choices in a few sentences. Your overall theme for your trip is up to you - whether you wish to go on a conventional hike or embark on specific activities - feel free to get creative!
  • You are NOT creating a full scene for this event - your submission should only contain your outfit + 5 items. However! Feel free to get as creative as you want in your description! Please look below for an example of an acceptable entry.
  • You may use a background and flooring that goes with your entry but you can also use a plain background if you wish! The important part is that the clothing and items and your description.
  • You do not need to list every single item of clothing you are wearing but you should describe certain clothing items that bring your idea together. You may use custom designs if you wish.
  • You do not need to name the specific item you are bringing but you must explain what everything is for. Eg. Instead of saying "homework set" you can call it research documents, instead of a "tourist telescope" you can call it binoculars etc. Make sure it is obvious if you are using certain items to represent different things.
  • Your screenshot/photo should be unedited or cropped. This includes in-game filters. If you are taking a photograph of a screenshot, please make sure all the sides are visible so the photo is not cropped.
  • Please submit one photo only.
  • Do not edit your entry after you have submitted it unless otherwise asked by the event host.
Please submit your entries to this thread by 6:59pm EDT on Sunday August 22nd 2021. Late entries will not be accepted.

Example Entry:

I am going on a hiking trip to my favourite national park to go bug catching! I'm wearing my red mountain parka and cargo pants that are breezy but will also shield me from mosquito bites! I'm wearing a red bandana just to match my red outfit! On my trip I'm taking my mountain bike to ride to the location, a water cooler and some grapes in case I get thirsty or hungry, and a mosquito trap to keep away those pesky bloodsuckers! Last but not least, I have to bring my trusty net to catch the bugs.

How to Vote 🗻

The cabin favourites are entirely community-decided. To vote, simply leave a reaction on the post of any entry. You can use either the Like or Love reaction, they will be added together. Entries that are approved will be marked by the staff with the accepted reaction, but don't wait for this to appear. Feel free to Like/Love any entries at any time!

While you can react to any entry, favourites will be decided only by votes from members of the same cabin.

Prizes 🗻

15 Mountain Tokens and 15 cabin points for your accepted entry (you may enter once).

The top 3 cabin favourites will earn an additional 8 Mountain Tokens. The top 1 will also receive a Rainbow Jellyfish Collectible.

since it's my first time going camping, i tried to carefully select things that would help me and my fellow campers while on our trip.
i'd bring picnic basket for any impromptu stops while hiking up the mountian. a extra camp stove in case anyone forgets one and
needs to heat their food up. a kettle to boil water for tea/coffee or to clean things. a ukulele to play and sing songs with everyone
at the campfire. and last but not least! a baby bear because i can't fall asleep without holding something!

it's also my very first time hiking on a mountain! i was a bit unsure what i should wear. i decided on a yellow school hat to
keep the sun and rain off my head. the bandage is for when i inevitably get bitten by mosquitos (they are very attracted
to me for some reason). the green dotted raincoat is to keep me warm and dry while walking. cargo pants have lots of
pocket space which is perfect for keeping extra things i need to bring (especially snacks!) everyday socks and yellow slip
on loafers
are breathable and lightweight, the shoes don't have laces so i don't have to worry about stopping to tie them!
my mom's duck knapsack is a great way to carry anything else i might need on our hike.

My Camping Trip
qSSsyzx.jpg

Hello! I love camping and have been going on camping trips since I was a kid.
My favorite place to camp is in Northern California like Big Sur or anywhere in the PNW.
There is truly something magical about having the mountain air mix with the cool ocean breeze.
It just wraps you up and you can get lost in it. My must haves I always need are:
my tent that is easy to set up to keep me safe from the elements,
My sleeping bag that that keeps me warm at night even when it's freezing outside,
my backpack which doubles as a dry bag so when I'm in or around the water all my
things can stay dry and protected, my stove to whip up those delicious camp meals and camp coffee,
and of course I have to bring a surfboard to go surfing. There's nothing better than waking
up at sunrise to go catch waves.

My outfit is modeled after an outfit I have IRL and would/have worn camping.
It features a Patagonia pull over and a Patagonia hat in a beautiful dusty rose color,
moisture wicking leggings, and of course my chacos.

I have a question! Would holding a flag count towards the item count or the costume? :0

A flag/phone/item that your rep is holding would only count towards the outfit. The 5 items should be placeable on the floor around you! However, you can drop a flag on the floor if you wish to use that as one of your item choices :)

edit: I have realised that items cannot be held in Harvey’s other than the “phone” reaction. So please disregard what I’ve said!

Any one with a similar idea, please keep in mind that all photos must be taken at Harvey’s. Thanks!

⛺Camping Holiday⛺

IMG_3400.JPG

Hi everyone! I am on a camping holiday in a beautiful area designed for campers such as myself, hence it is an enclosed space in the wilderness overseen by rangers. Camping is all about relaxing and connecting with nature which is why I have opted for a set of clothes that just exudes a chill vibe. I have brought a few essential items along with me including; a kettle, a lamp for the nighttime, a portable radio with my favourite caset tapes and access to an emergency channel for extra safety, my stuffed toy designed by Mum specifically for this trip and finally, I have crafted myself a log garden chair to wind down on at the end of each day.

Here's to the good times!

Pirate Camping Day!
20210816_085948.jpg

Arrrrr! Its Pirate Day and I am the captain of my one man crew to dig for me treasure! Arrr, dressed in me sea captain's coat, me pirate hat, me pirate pants, and me antique boots. Ye captain is ready for a swashbuckling adventure to the mountains! Pirates are only on the seas ya say? Nonsense! With me map in hand, thats definitely NOT a pirate rug, I will find me treasure as fast as a sailfish with me trusty golden shovel. Savvy? I will also need me magical Super Mushroom to give me the energy to dig, as well as me gold and white sleeping bag to recover me energy lost. Also, captain's secret...I will bring me kettle bathtub that doubles as me campfire and to clean that filthy dirt from me-self. Brilliant, eh? So now I set sail for me treasure unknown! Bye for now seadogs...uh Iandlubbers...wait I'm in the mountains...ah forget it!

I am setting up camp at the base of the beautiful Mount Belltree. I'm wearing a multipurpose vest with lots of convenient pockets, some trekking shoes to help keep me steady on my feet, a nice outdoor hat to keep the sun from my eyes, and a log pack to carry firewood.

I'm bringing with me a pop-up tent for a cozy night's sleep, campfire cookware to make mealtime a breeze, and an encyclopedia of the local flora and fauna. I'm also bringing a lantern for when I inevitably get scared of the dark and a trusty golden net to yeet away any bug that dares get close to me.

Getting ready to hike to the campsite on top of the mountain! I’m sporting my trusted bunny ears for the comfort of home. I also have my round shades on for the bright summer day. The explorers shorts and shirt are both comfy and yellow! They help me represent my fellow buzzy bees on this hike. My work boots are perfect to climb up the mountain with, and finally, my mom's knapsack to keep all of my items in!

🐝 Speaking of items, I bought along my Puppy because he loves to go hiking! He’ll keep me constant company on this long hike. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere without him!
🐝 I also decided to bring my best Fishing Pole along. Making sure I have enough food will never be a problem now! (And yes, I will share with my puppy.)
🐝 My cute pink Sleeping Bag is a must! Not only will it keep me warm at night, but it’s extremely stylish. There’s even enough room for the puppy!
🐝 I’m very resourceful, especially when I can only bring 5 items! My Frying Pan had to make it onto the list. Whether it’s cooking up a good meal, or whacking scary mountain cryptids, my pan has me covered.
🐝 Last, but certainly not least I brought Toilet Paper. Which, as we know, has many, many uses. Hehehe

I'm off to the meadow, where I intend to study bees! Because they're pollinators, I brought an exotic flower stand which will entice the bees for close-range observation and photograpy. I brought a throwback dino screen to ward off predators, and a star net for catch and release. I brought a barrel for storing honey, and a pop-up tent for overnight stay. This will allow me to observe the hive's daily rituals!

With the flashy animal boots and pointy-ear animal hat, I'll become one with the environment & the bees wont dare suspect me. I brought a band-aid for the inevitable stings and bites, and the explorer shorts will provide tremendous storage. The aran-knit socks will keep my toes warm and safe from mosquitos, and the traveler's backpack will store all of my discoveries.

My Trip Up the Mountain
8231BCA2-2EE4-4DF3-A72D-B44638D6C6CD.jpeg

I am a camp girl but not so sure about this hiking up a mountain thing. It’s HARD!!! I sure was glad when we got to our stopping place for the night! First things first, I had to bring a tent of course. I can’t sleep in weird silence, so I brought my battery operated portable fan (plus I get hot easily, too.) I wasn’t sure if my cabin knows a lot of campfire songs, so I brought a radio as well that we could all sing along to. I think I missed the announcement where we were told if we were hunting our dinner or bringing packed lunches, so I just overfilled my picnic basket with Food and water just in case.

The last thing I picked to bring takes a little explaining. So, I realize Twomp is not on the “normal” camping gear list, HOWEVER… 1. Our Camp Councilors keep disappearing under odd circumstances. 2. We have a bit of a ghost problem in our cabin. 3. Speaking of the ghost problem, last night he kept whispering about mountain lions that like to sneak into tents… Sooooooo that brings me back to Mr. Twomp. I have all faith, that if mountain lion or ghost or the mystery person that keeps kidnapping our camp counselors tries to sneak into my tent, Twomp Well either smash them or at least scare them away.
My chosen attire for this venture is:
A yellow gingham do-rag (Because if I get hot I can just wet it down and put it back on and keep my head cool)
A big travelers bag to hold most of my stuff in
My brown cargo shorts
My yellow rubber toed sneakers
So everyday socks
My yellow oval glasses (so I can actually see the mountains)
And the camp shirt I made. Here’s the pic of it!

If I were to go hiking, I would want to be prepared. I would want to bring snacks and plenty of drinks in order to stay energized and hydrated (hence the picnic basket and cooler). I would also ideally want to bring some sort of foldable chair in case I wanted to take a break (I actually have one that folds up really small and has a cylindrical bag that you can carry it in). While taking a break in my foldable chair, I might want to listen to some music, so I would definitely have to bring a portable radio. Finally, I would be sure to bring a lantern in case it happened to get dark while I was still out on the trail.

In terms of clothing, I would definitely want to make sure I am comfortable. I would wear a light jacket in case I was cold, but I would make sure it had a zipper so I could undo it if it started to get warmer outside. I would also wear a hat with a wide brim so I could avoid getting sunburns. I pretty much only wear jeans, but I would make sure to wear some comfortable, loose-fitting ones so I could easily move in them. Finally, I would wear some combat boots so I could avoid slipping on the path and wouldn't have to worry too much about stepping in mud.

To be prepared for my trip to try to locate The Jersey Devil, I'm wearing my cargo pants and outdoor vest so I have plenty of pockets to store necessities. I'm wearing my outdoor hat to keep bugs out of my hair and my trekking shoes so I can go over rough terrain. I also have my outdoor backpack on to store my equipment. Since I don't know how long I might be out here I've brought my camping cot to sleep under the stars but also my tent in case the weather turns bad. I've got my campfire cookware to heat up my hot tea and dinner. My cooler is full of water and food. I also brought my cassette recorder to check for weather reports and to record the terrifying screech of The Jersey Devil that echoes through these woods.

🦋🦋🦋 I love butterflies, especially monarch butterflies. After raising monarch butterflies at home, it is time for them to be released back into the wild. While on my hiking quest I wear comfortable clothes like my bug shirt I earned at the Bug Off, a sweatband to keep the sweat from dripping into my eyes, a bug cage to keep catapillars or butterfly eggs if I find any, and durable trekking shoes. I will also bring the artesian bug cage to transport the butterflies, a picnic basket in case I get hungry, a picnic blanket because I don't like getting dirty, a pillow for comfortable sitting, and a book to identify the monarch eggs or catapillars so I can raise more at home. Monarch butterflies are on the endangered species list so I have to do what I can to help save them.🦋🦋🦋🐛🐛

I'm setting up camp next to a rockpool (outdoor bath that definitely wasn't placed there ;) ) I found on my ventures. I've always loved being near water and this rockpool takes the spot for me. Near the rockpool I've made myself a wild log bench to rest on, a campfire to keep warm, set up my sleeping bag and brought out my book for entertainment.

it's a bit chilly where I am down in the southern hemisphere so I've dressed warmly with my pullover jacket, purple cargo pants, steel toed boots for safety, knit hat and travelers backpack for all my belongings :)

Do the items have to be realistic/practical or can it be outlandish and not truly possible realistically..? Cuz there are things I wish I could bring/have on a camping trip but it would never happen :(
