Hi everyone,

For anyone who is also a little concerned we haven't seen any bushes on the island yet, besides the ones attached to unexpanded houses, I just watched the Direct again and noticed the 2 big planters in this room with the big fountain and butterflies, in the bug section of the museum. And that the left one has a blue and pink hydrangea in it! And next to it is clearly room for 2 more bushes and in the right planter there is room for 4 more. In other words, there is room for all 8 bushes that appeared in New Leaf!

It seems like when the museum footage was recorded for the Direct, the player had already bought or received the blue and pink hydrangea. It sure looks like when you eventually collect all 8, all planters will be filled with every single bush in the game, right?

And while I'm just watching Nintendo Life's review of the game on Youtube, I noticed that if you pause the review at 9:16, you see the same room with the 2 big planters, only in their footage you see the blue and pink hydrangea on the right side of the left planter! Again, leaving room for the 6 remaining bushes. And since they are in a different spot, suggesting you donate/plant them yourself in the planters.

Sooo, I think it's safe to say there will be 8 types of bushes in the game!?

Sorry for my rambling and/or if this has already been discussed before. I'm new here.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

that would be cool if it were true - i never cared much for the bushes in new leaf but it’d be kinda cool to add them to your museum as you obtain them ahah

i loved the bushes in new leaf! i really hope you are right and they will come back. maybe they will be more like fences?

i am still worried about not having seen bushes out on the island. but as you pointed out, that planter or whatever it is looks weirdly empty so hopefully that means something.

Not only do I want bushes back, I want access to more than 2 a day.

i feel like they’ll definitely come back if they show them in the museum like that

This is a great find!

The empty space always struck me as odd—but the fact that the hydrangea has appeared in different spots is even more promising! I'll gladly be wrong and take back what I said in another thread about the absence of bushes being more or less a certainty :3 If they are in the game, I mean.

That would be fantastic! I'm still not sure Leif is in the game though. I really wish that someone would confirm him, because some dataminers say he's in the game and other don't even mention him. The fact that there is a blue and pink hydrangea in the left planter in the museum (diverse footage shows them in different spots) makes me wonder if in New Horizons you can just obtain one of each and plant them in the museum just for display purposes. So that everytime you walk by the fountain you are like :"Oh remember these from New Leaf? You can't plant any of them on your island!"

I hope the only reason we haven't seen Leif yet is because you have to upgrade Nook's store once or twice for Leif to appear in front of the resident services building and you can invite him to have his own special section in Nook's store again, like in New Leaf. The island definately needs more green than just trees and flowers, right?

Fingers crossed!

Did anyone already have any luck getting those bushes yet? Or discovered when you can start planting them on your island? I really hope you get acces to them early in the game, because the island looks so empty with just trees and flowers.

It will be really strange if the bushes get into the museum, but not actually available. I hope they didn't disappear. I do really like bushes.

Since they haven’t been confirmed I have a feeling bushes are being taken over by fences. That’s the new way of separating areas. I’m honestly not worried about it because it can always be added in later through dlc or maybe it’s something you unlock deep in the game like in New Leaf. Besides the bushes at Tortimers island bushes took a while to get in New Leaf

I was also hoping this was the case! I'd die for a botanical garden section of the museum. Especially since the little placards are present on the fountain planter boxes and ground ones, I'm more inclined to believe we can donate flowers/bushes to the museum.

My ONLY other theory would be that the bush appearance may increase the more butterflies you donate to the room, in the sense of a progress bar. It could also fill seasonally - I believe hydrangeas are in season for March/Spring, so perhaps we will see more the further we get into the year.

I definitely hope they get added back! I feel like you can't have a big beautiful forest without bushes, because they really help flesh it out and make it interesting! :)
