ACNH Pet Peeves and Petty Complaints Thread

The hourly music still sucks. I don't like the instruments they used so basically all the music is grating to me. I even listen to New Leafs and it's just so much better. Even Wild World's too.
I agree. I like New Leaf's music better and could listen to most of the songs all day. It's so relaxing and I actually get nostalgic from hearing certain songs. New Horizons' music just became bleh after a while. It's alright, though, I turn down the game volume and blare yacht rock while playing the game these days.

When I played New Horizons before my RS was built, I thought the music I heard constantly was the only hourly song in the entire game. I was relieved to find out that it wasn't, and now I actually kind of wished it came back in some form...

I always play NH with the sound off now. It's disappointing. I remember loving when the clock changed to hear all the different songs back when I played NL/WW. I wish I had that with NH too but alas.

To be honest, ACNH has the worst hourly music, even worse than Wild World’s. The only ones that I actually liked were 12 AM, 1 AM, and 2 AM, but that was it.

The GameCube version has some of the best hourly songs in the entire franchise. 7 AM and 5 PM are the ones that stand out the most. I also liked 4 PM, 6 PM, 7 PM, and 11 AM, as they defied the generalization that the GameCube’s hourly music was lazily made.

Wild World had the weakest prior to 2020, but it had a few that I felt nostalgic towards, like 10 AM, 1 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM.

New Leaf, even for the worst of the hourly songs, is the most cinematic one of the franchise. And as a collection, it was the best.

I guess the only ACNH music I like is the 12 PM music and 6 PM music, but everything else just sounds so meh to me. I tend to mute my TV and just play the 1 AM Music from New Leaf because that was the best one.

I always love the late night/early morning music in the series.

12AM in NH is good and so is 5AM. But otherwise, it's all way too upbeat for being late night.

I couldn’t order an OLED Switch from the catalog in ACNH. It’s absent.
There isn't an oled version. There's only the NH version, the regular switch, and the Switch lite in different varieties. Except for the NH which is just green. You can get the NH version if you have the actual system. Otherwise you'll have to find someone willing to trade it.

I randomly found the NH Switch for sale in my daily Nook Shopping selection back around when I first got the game, and I don't have that same switch in real life. Not sure if something changed between updates but I could've swore I've seen it being offered for sale randomly since then. I can even buy it normally from the catalog.

Same here. I only have the regular Switch irl and yet the NH Switch appeared in the daily catalog in my game and I bought it. I think that it’s the in game Switch that you get from Nintendo that matches the one you are playing the game on as I remember getting a free Neon Red and Blue Switch in the mail about two months after NC had launched.

I just think the Animalese in this game sounds off, especially with the smug and lazy villagers (and by extension, the special characters that share voices with them, such as Flick and the Nooklings, although they feel strangely fitting for Phil and Cole). Then again, I'm just really used to the ACNL rendition of Animalese, so by now it just sounds off otherwise.

To me, Animalese just kind of varies from game to game. In the GameCube version, I could decipher actual English words every now and then, but it started sounding more gibberish-like later on, which is probably a good thing.

I got used to all the voices in NH specifically after a while, and ironically whenever I revisit New Leaf and hear the cranky villagers speak, it sounds off to me. They did give a lot of the cranky villagers much deeper voices this time around, like Rolf for example. I had him in my New Leaf town, and his voice was much lighter in tone compared to when I talked to him in HHP. It really fits him, however, since his default expression is essentially a big ol' RBF.

The only cranky villagers I have now are Tom and Bruce, and even though their voices are deeper now than in NL, they're not as deep compared to Rolf. I like how the tone of voice is different for almost all the villagers depending on their physical sizes; it's a nice little detail.

I do agree, however, that certain male villagers' tones (mainly smugs and jocks) are a bit high, but I can't really think of anyone off the top of my head that stands out specifically (non-cranky villagers with stubbles, maybe?). The sisterly voices also sounded pretty weird to me at first, but after having Cherry as my only sisterly for a long, long time, I just got used to that voice quick.

AGREED! I prefer the WW/CF sound of Animalese much better. NH sounds off.

I really hate when villagers just run up to you to ask you if you asked for a gift and even if you said No they just give it to you anyways. Its one of those things that just rubs me the wrong way.

in NH the voice actually varies based on species. my normal villager megan has a deep voice, whereas Kiki's is a bit higher. I haven't heard the cranky voice for bears/elephants in NH but I have a cranky hamster and it sounds very off lol.
I feel like New Horizons makes the Animalese more "natural" sounding, like what a real animal crossing character would sound like, whereas older games (most noticeable in Wild World) it feels more digital.
New Leaf's animalese is iconic and charming.

i hate that we can't put hanging items on cliff walls, honestly! it would make things so conceptually fresh ✨✌🏻

I would love to be able to place hanging items on cliffs . I had to give up on a zodiac area because two of the items are wall hanging . It wouldn’t have looked right without them.

yeah ! i had this exact problem ! why give me a set of things i love and would love to decorate with, that is locked inside ! 😭

that or lamps. so sincerely wanted sconces to be on cliffs. it would make spooky valley builds so great.

I don't like it when villagers get in the way. Like sometimes when you're busy hitting a rock several times they like to come near you and then you somehow talk to them which makes you mess up your hits on the rock so you don't get enough materials.

It's been 3 years what do you meeeeaaaan I have to exit and re-enter the dressing room every time I want to buy different colours of the same thing!

There are so many wall items that would look better outside then inside. They took the time making nice items it’s sad you really can’t use them outside.
I would have loved to place the really nice small and medium rugs outside . It would create more pattern space. I really love the seasonal and fruit rugs but they would be better outside.

For me they usually get it the way when trying to catch a bug. Sorry I wasn’t trying to hit them with my net they just walked in the way .

It's wild because in the Nook stores, those items come with a metal frame that they hang on.

So why can't we get that outside??
