Mafia American Politics Mafia - Game Over - Town Wins!

lowkey not ok with Jacob saying I'd be a good president when I hadn't even posted anything yet, lol

Anyway my rq answers

What is your general experience with mafia, including in games with elected roles? A few years on a different forum, some with epicmafia, and a decent number of games on TBT here

As mayor, how do you intend to use your role? I'm nobody important so if I were elected, I'd listen to what everyone has to say and vote for the most scummy player. Not really much else I could do with it haha

Who do you want to be President? I'm getting good vibes from Ness's posts. I think he'd be a good prez

In an anomymous election, is there ANY situation (as town) in which you would lie about who you voted for? Only if I really felt general consensus was wrong on who scum was, and the person people wanted lynched was a strong townlean of mine. Ik it would make me look really scummy if I ended up lynching town in a close scenario, but yeah aside from strong disagreement in a close scenario, I don't think it'd be helpful for me to lie about who I'd voted for

Ness: Ahh gotcha, thanks much

Is toads really complaining about Ness' button?? Lol he's had that for a while as a little flavor/joke before the game, I have no issue with it at all

I didn't chose really the president candidates based off their towniness, the fact that you haven't posted anything and I consider you a good president choice shouldn't really be concerning.

Whoever is president will probably be under extreme play spotlight. So the readability of the player is much more important to me than their towniness, we can always lynch the president

I'm just gonna say that if Glow was legitimately hard-claiming there, she'd pretty much have to become Mayor by default. But I have known her to make dumb softs at the start of the game. If it's legit that she's a delayed innocent child, the only real concern would be that she's a third-party who wins once they're elected mayor or a jester (as no maf would claim that seriously, as would no lying town)

Actually, come to think of it, retracting my statement on that until I can look at some of the past games Trundle's hosted because this is experimental

While I agree with this statement, I feel as if a balance should be between towniness and whether or not someone being president would be telling to their true alignment. I feel like it would be a waste to take a shot in the dark and simply elect someone who we think would tell us their alignment, as the mayor role is a seemingly powerful role to have.

Instead you made a button for your sig and changed the catchphrase above your avatar. All you have said is that you would use the president/mayor power to push your own personal wants... thats not exactly who I want to have that power. And dolby is an awkward pick too rn. If anyone else shares this viewpoint with me, then I'm your candidate. If someone else wants to run with a more inclusive stance too, then thats cool... but right now I don't feel comfortable with either of you being elected

Does it really matter if he or I are town though? Might I remind you that those you advocate for the masses are typically the ones most easily corrupted by power

But seriously though, I would honestly be fine with Ness as king (purely based on how I remember him playing as scum) because he?s taking a different approach in his attacking style. Rather than focus on who?s on the chopping block, he?s focusing on many people. Am I 100% confident that he?s town? No. But have I see red flags from him? Not really. Toads, do you have anybody who you yourselve would vote for, or at this point are you all in ON yourself?

Moreover, is what a person admits what they do a disqualification if it works? I have literally never seen that one extra vote be the difference between two different people being lynched, so the consequences aren?t as significant. I do get the concern that he and I would drive town for sheep, but you would to, and I think you aren?t giving people in general enough credit

Please, you are acting so immature about this. The button is a joke that I asked Waffles to make, I'm clearly not taking it seriously. I may as well not even run for president if I'm going to get comments like this, I expect better then petty insults from you

I'm just going to drop this since I don't want a back and forth kiddy fight between me and toads about who is better.

You make a comment on me, I'm gonna comment back. Here is your quote:
Ness said:
As mayor, how do you intend to use your role? I would mostly use it for the extra vote, It would be quite handy to have it under my belt to use in an emergency situation. I've had several games where I REALLY wanted someone lynched (E.x Breath of the Wild Mafia) and was powerless due to someone not agreeing with who I thought was mafia.

I don't like it, sounds selfish. I am saying I will use the extra vote as a people's vote, similar to what I said in Kingmaker. You wanted me to stop "telling people to vote for me" so I am and here is my platform. If I don't abide by this platform later, I can be impeached/lynched. This way we aren't putting a ton of power onto one person based on poor early reads.

Lol, first line came off wrong. I meant it to be like”does it matter so long as we’re town”

I'm caught up. I am liking Ness's posts, and Punchy is also striking me as town too. Punchy is trying to generate discussion and get leads going, though his "you'll see" post was a bit weird.

Toads seems a little off to me; he kinda dumbtelled about the president role and something about his writing style seems a bit stiff/distant to me, idk...it's always a bad idea to vest too much trust in toads :p

I'm mostly running because you and Ness as president doesn't sit well with me, if a better candidate comes along I'll be more than happy to say vote for them

Trundle came about from the old days, pretty sure that the extra vote is automatically attached to your vote and can?t be used separately from your first vote. Though it?s a good question Iguess

Fair enough; I do see you explained this as well earlier in the thread. Still, singling out two inactive peeps for the president position is a curious play, to say the least. :eyes:

Look, you know that we’re both ambitious. If you are concerned that I’ll be an authoritarian tyrant, I will be, but pretty much all you’ve pointed out towards one or both of us being scum is how Ness would choose to use his extra vote, which i personally don’t see as alignment indicative

Oh if its attached to my other vote then boo.... but still I don't like you or Ness.

Does a president only cast one vote that counts twice, or can they make two separate votes

At this point, the invincibility is a much more important power for the prez than the double vote

Agreed, double vote is only useful at MYLO, and I guess LYLO, and by then most of the time the president is dead (in my experience)

When I said that, I meant that I would use the extra vote as a way of solidifying a lynch. Obviously as president, I'm going to be using the presidency to lead town am I correct? So, with the inclusion of body guards, I would more than likely be a good leader for the entirety of the town. Of course I'm going to listen to others opinions and base that off of what I think; Its not like I would rule as some dictator and drown out what everyone else has to say because I would only be killing what people think of me based off of that. I'm doing my best to act as calm as possible so that everyone understands what I'm trying to say, which is why I'm focusing more on scum hunting right now.

And about your comment, I'm DMing you about it because I don't want either of us to be uncivil towards each other since you're my friend.

Toads, you’ve focused on Ness more that me. Do you find his candidacy more objectionable and/or him more scummy than myself

As mayor, how do you intend to use your role? I definitely would take into consideration of what the majority of people say, as the majority is town. I would probably try to see what people influence me to sniff out mafia.

first scum claim of the game btw, this implies you're going to merely be "influenced" into lynching scum and not take an active role in it.

also the first sentence is really weird because why would you follow what the majority of people are saying? if ur actually town it's not like you know who's town or who's scum, 5 people could be saying to lynch someone and 3-4 could be mafia with the other 1-2 being town and wrong.
